Although I don't use Linux as a desktop. My laptop is a 13" MBP that I have been using for three years now without any problems. I think I will use it for two more years before getting a new one. Prior to that I had a white unibody macbook that worked fine for two years until I destroyed it by spilling tea all over it. My colleague sitting next to me is using a MBP from 2008. That's 6 years and counting, only expenses were getting a new charger and some rubber pads off ebay

They're fucking durable. I used to work in secret service and at one time i blocked a gun shot to the president head with a thinkpad. Too bad the president still got shot at the end. The second gunman shot him from opposite direction.

That night, i typed my report and my resignation letter with the same thinkpad. The only thing broken in that laptop was the hdd bay door. The rest of the laptop worked flawlessly.

I also have a 13" Macbook pro that I only use for editing photos, I'll never buy another because it's more than enough to run anything I need as is.

I also have two thinkpads that I take around town with me (not usuallly at the same time) that are also more than enough to do everything I need and are very durable and have good battery life, I estimate my computer usage is about 70% thinkpad and 10% mac, with my phone being the last 20%

I liek muh 'Pads because they are durable, easy to build from organ donors, easy to upgrade, have excellent Linux support, have hard drives which are exceptionally easy to swap, have Ultrabays for moar swappage, have well-designed docks, great keyboards, and in general are convenient as fuck.

I can scatter them everywhere to always have a PC at hand. I dock my main T61 and run external monitor/keyboard/mice while enjoying dat battery as builting "UPS" since power outages are common in my area. I have 'Pads in my shops, both houses, both trucks, and they don't cost squat because I build and sell other 'Pads. I have a faster Dell XPS and a desktop for AutoCAD but my X200 w SSD and 8GB also runs AutoCAD 2015 surprisingly well. (If you have a .edu email you can download it free from Autodesk.)

I can afford any notebook I want and not notice the expense, but 'Pads just work so that's what I use. I'm a conveniencefag.
