I don't have any idea why, but xiaomi pistons give me the biggest boner ever. Anyone else have this problem? I just ordered a pair on amazon, what should I expect?
Decent sound and build quality for price and for a chink company. There are other that are arguably better, but these are pretty damn good, and if you really like the aesthetics of them, then there's no debate there...
They sounded good already out of the box, and now that it's been a few months and well past the burn-in time, I'm very impressed with how they ended up. Especially considering the price point. Plus they feel solid in the ears and look really premium. I've gotten a ton of compliments and questions about them.
Thinking about doing the filter removal mod but I'm afraid I'll fuck up the metal grates. Has anyone done this successfully, and is it worth it?
Neatly presented and cheap, really nice cord.
Knowledge Zenith DT3 are better for ~half the price, but they don't look as fancy or have the fancy cord.
Below ~$17 it's probably a fake.
Just got these today. Best $25 I've ever spent.
So you think an item that is worth $0.01 more than a $0.01 item would be at a price that isn't negligible? You're making a sweeping generalization and it shows your ignorance. Also you're a poorfag if you can't even afford or save up for a pair of earphones less than $100.
You're a poorfag not because you're buying something that is priced at $25, but for buying a product that is inferior to others at a slightly higher price point that anyone who is a wise consumer and money spender would be able to afford. I don't even care if this is bait, you really have no clue yourself.
People constantly buying pointlessly expensive gear are the ones that tend to be frustrated poorfags.
Either way, I can recommend the Xiaomis because they're really neat in terms of how they are built and presented as objects.
But the KZ I have now definitely have better sound properties and comfort is fine on those, too.
hey /g/, /fit/ here
not an audiophile or anything but I'm interested in buying a decent pair of earphones/iem that look good, have okay sound quality and wont break within a week
they will be used with my iphone (hur dur le apple fag) for music while im traveling to and from work
im willing to pay up to $75 but would much rather pay under $50
I have these
They're pretty good, not really bass heavy but great presentation.
Original Xiaomi Piston 2.1.
I'd also mention the KZ again, but I really don't know how fast they might break (or not) yet.
OTOH I severely doubt you can break enough of them to incur significant cost, either way. Not the ~$10 ones anyways.
Thanks for the recs, if any one else has any it would be appreciated
These look very nice, a bit apprehensive of dropping $75 on earphones though
Will keep them in mind
> Original Xiaomi Piston 2.1.
These look nice and are very affordable
Will keep them in mind
Don't like the look of these unfortunately
> These look nice and are very affordable
And they have kevlar under the TPE (and at the bottom, under the TPE + braideds), so the cable is hard to break...
> Don't like the look of these unfortunately
It's a brand. Lots of different phones. Of course not all of them are great, but there a bunch of different ones that are quite good...
I'm in Switzerland and I didn't order them from Switzerland.
They arrived here from China by ways of postal services.
Shouldn't be a problem in the USA, either?
>It's a brand. Lots of different phones. Of course not all of them are great, but there a bunch of different ones that are quite good...
Oh oops, sorry.
I'll check out their other products.
Thanks again for the help.
I've had mine for about three months now, and i just love how detailed the mids are. Don't really care about dat bass, but it sure is bassier than every other sub-$100 in-ear I've had.
Build quality is excellent as well. It is just a downright, well-made product. Srs
>Thanks again for the help.
No problem. Be careful if you end up on the Xiaomis.
There are lots of convincing fakes being sold, anything below $16.3 or so should be obviously suspect because that'd be below the Chinese price (at least at past exchange rates)
> is probably eaisier for you to buy chinaese things in switzerland because they can send them via mule or whatever
Hehe - no, airplanes or ships, same as they send them to the USA. Shipping anything across Eurasia by land is actually a PITA, or so I heard. Almost no one who doesn't have to does it.
Personally, I'm neutral about their looks (and the alternatives are more fancy to me).
Decent sound quality for the price.
Pretty nice design.
Very good build quality for the price.
Decent longevity (~18 months).
You're getting a typical $60 earbud for $25.
Not much more, not much less.
>You're getting a typical $60 earbud for $25
Or ~$20, which is what I paid for the originals (seller was apparently content with ~$3.7 or so for his profits and shipping)
And you still get a bit of kevlar braided wire (and 3 control buttons + a mic if you're using a compatible smartphone) extra.
But yea, they sound like average $60 earphones picked at random in a store might.
why are there so much people buying poor fag Chink crap? get Beats By Dre like a sane person.
> In general, is the sound good?
Yes, but I stand by my assessment that the KZ-DT3 are probably better for most people (by sound).
> will i notice any diference coming from the EarPods?
I don't have any of the recent ones (last time I used Apple IEM was with an itouch 2 that I won, and it broke after ~1 year).
But people told me that those still are kinda shitty.
So my guess is that yes, Xiaomi Piston 2 sound better.
> Also, is it true their lifespan is below average?
No, I don't think so.
Clearly, you've never even touched the pistons based on your statement. Sure, the earpods are "decent", but to say that one won't hear any difference between it and the Pistons is just plain ignorant. They aren't even remotely in the same league of tonal quality.
The Beats user. Beats users will take pictures of their gear with their face in it, while users of other more premium brands usually don't. That other image is also relevant.
>asks "does it really matter?"
see now you're just grasping at the straws. it is a very, very good in-ear given its price, and obviously, one would always want the best product possible at ANY given price range. dont forget, earpods cost more, and they sound inferior.
listen to the Pistons first, then try making that statement again. they truly are not even remotely close in quality. i almost regret purchasing some 150-dollar in-ears i have, when some of them are matched by the Pistons. srs
I don't know what's so amazing. Sure I do realize that the frequency response as well as soundstage and imaging are much better, but it's not at all impressive. I feel like you guys put this sound quality thing on too high of a pedestal when all you're doing is listening music.
I'm not too sure, but I think this is the real one.
Reasonable price and positive reviews.
Given the price ($3 extra to the price I paid), photos and the reviews, I'd say that those are real.
It's not like the Chinese sellers have big problems sourcing real Xiaomi Piston2s at ~$16...
This. The Beats Solo 2 has been reviewed and confirmed by the guys at innerfidelity and other places as being genuinely good. Now it's safe to actually recommend Beats, though only the Solo 2 at the moment.
>not having both
They each have their strengths and weaknesses. I'll be over here enjoying my rich, powerful yet accurate bass and crystal clear midrange and treble.
Probably. It's the only thing they do.
Arguably you could also get some other bassy headphones. Beats do essentially what all Chinese $10 bass headphones do, too.
[I mean the usual beats - I haven't heard or read about any Solo 2 in detail yet.]
Is that so you can wipe the nigger cum from your chin?
How much better are these than the Monoprice 8320's?
My 8320's have this terrible fabric cord. I tried the white ones but one side went out within a couple months and I want to try something different.
I owned a pair of jays back when they cost $200. Now they're under 100, and there's no excuse to not try them. I did end up returning my pair that went bunk, but refund wasn't a hassle and the quality was well beyond the shures I had up until then.
Indeed. China is good to have around. I also got them for $7, and ordered as second set immediately as present...
They're neat if you don't need (or don't want - I actually wear them often because prolonged use numbs my ear drums less than other 'phones) much bass.
What do you think about the brainwavz delta(pic related)? Are they good or better than the Xiaomi piston?
Got these. I hardly ever use them since I drive everywhere and I have good speakers at home.
DT3, R3 or EDSE for a bit more bass. Those are just about how I like it.
DT5PE -or even more so- PLE or GK-LP (these last ones aren't IEM) are reported to have a lot of bass. [I don't have *any* of these here because I wasn't looking for much bass, personally.]
Also see this random forum post for a brief but incomplete overview:
70% off holy shit
Holy shit, these things are amazing.
I thought I lost them on friday, and today as I was putting my bags in my car I noticed a cord on the ground.
Found my earbuds, had been sitting in the the cold and rain over the weekend.
They sound great and are apparently indestructible.
Well, there also are many older and newer models (for example, LP Plus and LP2 apparently came out, don't ask me if that's a seller "rebranding" or actual new products).
It's about the normal price, no matter how much rebate they indicate and how much some of the other rip-off traders demand.
But the overall deal -irrespective of sales tactics employed- is just fine, if you ask me. Rather decent IEM for $12. Wouldn't call them "professional" in this case (too bassy), but yea.
be wary of the fake ones
asides from that enjoy your boner
so I am seeing a bunch of links here. am looking for good budget earbuds
these look nice
also had my eye on
2 of 3 are in this thread...dont know much about earbuds...what do you guys think?
>buying non-chinese headphones in 2013+1
the TTPOD T1-E come with a metric fuckton of buds too, it's awesome.
you can even get them in clear
whats everyones opinion on say any kind of Skullcandy? are these just really bad or are there some good ones? I was thinking of getting these...
