yeah. his most recent one was blown out for absolutely no reason. I couldn't work out why that could possibly pass a preflight let alone be published. they are better than a lot of channels in the production department (their lighting exists, which is more than other people), but I don't know if it justifies having so many employees.

there's a market for a "serious" reviewer. out of my circle of friends there's a definite demand for somebody who reviews things properly (not just reading the specs off the box and the front page of the reviewers guide). linus almost gets there, but falls back to making stupid jokes and just glossing over the details to keep the length down. I'd take a 20 minute review of a case rather than linus' insane 8 minutes of ramble, 10 seconds of graphs shown on the screen, and 2 minutes of advertising. luke's videos are rambling but more interesting, he actually seems to want to describe how he uses things (not his portion segments, the videos he does the whole thing), but doesn't quite have the confidence in front of the camera.

That's actually the point I was trying to make, sorry it's late... He started out as "just" a youtube channel for NCIX. He didn't have too much responsibility there and could do stupid bs. The stupid bs attracted lots of (I would imagine younger) people who built his core audience, sadly. I get this strong vibe from him that he really wants to outgrow this and that he would love to just trash half of his audience, but he obviously can't do that because of image and financial reasons. I would also like some longer and indepth videos from him, I think that he's actually a smart guy, but that would probably not fare well with the attention span of the average youtube user. I really think that he should scale everything back, keep decent production values and start over. Currently he's reinvesting so much money (apparently) and it will all be for naught.
