re-reposting:

looking for a nice tritium analog watch, quartz movement, not necessarily 'diver' style (huge large bezel, etc). not expensive either <$600. tritium in hands is a must, tritium 12, 3, 6, 9 dial would be nice.

extra points for stuff like stopwatch, solar recharge, atomic timekeeping etc, but i havent found anything like it so not keeping my hopes up.

They're worth it I think. I got an HMT Janata, same movement but different face style, a few weeks ago for $25. Really great simple mechanical watch. It takes about a week for it to lose a full minute, or ~9 seconds a day +/-, I haven't done much in the way of rigorous accuracy testing.

Not sure what model this is or much anything about it as I got it as a gift about 10 years ago. Some sort of eco-drive anyway.

It's been the best watch I've had though, while not exactly beautiful it's been working flawlessly through everyday use and seen water, sauna, dust, drops and all other sort of abuse. Glass is still scratch free and hasn't dropped a second as far as I know (kind of to be expected though?).

I've got one, and I'd say it's worth the price. There's nothing overly standout about it, but it's a rather nice size. If they did away with the rotor on the back and made it a handwind only it might have been nicer just to get it a little thinner, as it does stand relatively tall compared to the counterparts it's based off of. The white dial that it now comes with is really bland. It apparently used to come with a silvery type finish on the face, but that's not the case anymore. Still, can't go wrong for the price for a bauhaus styled watch with an automatic movement.

Correct, it doesn't look like that one. It would appear shortly before I got mine, they started shipping out with flat white faces instead of the nice pearlescent silvery type face. I was pretty bummed about it when I first got it. The concentric circles around the seconds hand dial are there, but god damn you can't even tell. I like the fit and finish of the whole thing, but the dial is very sterile, hence my reasoning for wearing nato straps with it to add a bit of 'pop'.
>>
>>44122580
roger that, thanks

yeah, with the flat white it does seem to look a bit too... 'spacious' or something. it would be less of an issue if it was smaller i think. especially the area at 8-10 to center and 2-4 to center.

might order a blue one, why not, it's a great price. it's really just so i can wear >muh bauhaus without worrying about losing it too much

Can someone recommend a good diver that's very cheap?

I'm talking about >50$ cheap, because taxes in Europe are huge and something that's $50 on amazon is almost $100 on amazon.co.uk.

Pic related looks great in my opinion, unfortunately I heard that it isnt produced anymore. On amazon.co.uk I didn't see anything. It has a product page but only some random YooKay seller offers it and I have to pay about 60 pounds for it. That means about $100 and then I also have to pay about 10 pounds for shipping, so that's another 15$ meaning I'd have to pay almost 120 fucking dollars for a quartz watch.

I'm not a fan of divers so I don't know much. But watchuseek's "affordable" section is full of, well, affordable watches. It's where I started to gather information on the hobby. Read the "what are you wearing" threads every day and you'll have a map of brands, types of watches, and prices in your head. It'll take a few weeks at least but you'll make a better decision than what I can say, I guess.

Interesting. Thanks again for your help. I forgot about amazon.fr and amazon.de and the others. That blue one looks great but I still like the mdv-106's look a bit more. I think you're right about the price, I recall that I wanted to buy the same model a few years ago and I recall seeing a "35" price tag, could've been euros or pounds I don't remember.

Judging from those names MTP and MTW are prefixes that they assign to diver watches, right? When I searched "casio diver" on amazon.com I didn't find those 2 so maybe that's why.

Like I said above the watch is fake. The dial and probably crown is likely Chinese made. The rest of the watch might be original parts pulled from who knows where but fit together into an unoriginal ugly combination. Return it if possible, otherwise I hope you didn't spend much on it.

If you still insist there's plenty of black and red striped natos. You could maybe also try olive green, but I can't tell from the picture how well it will match. That also means you could try the "James Bond" nato strap which is black, red, and olive or gray striped.

Depends what broke. The temperature shift could have fucked the mainspring. If it's not obvious when you open the caseback your best bet is getting another watch to swap movements with or a new watch all together. Servicing could cost more than that.
