Is moot just appeasing the Jewish overlords with an empty promise? I'm sure by the time they've gone through the bureaucracy of the process required to issue a notice about a specific thread it would of 404'd anyway.
>>
>>44025125
Obviously. No one is going through all those bullshit steps just to request that something be taken down.
>>
>>44025125
>>44025147
You realize that a DMCA takedown is basically just a template right? Shit I could write you a script that generates a valid one given nothing more than an input section for "what was 'stolen'" and "what URL is it at".
>>
>>44025147
I think it's companies/ their lawyers that go through the bullshit steps, the same people that clearly haven't a clue how this site operates.
>>
>>44025172
I didn't realize that no, however they're still going to have to employ someone to monitor the site 24/7 and be fairly quick to the punch with the request to get a thread or it's picture purged. I hope moot employs some kind of notice to the users when the DMCA rule is enforced so people can repost the fuck out of the offending material.
>>
>>44025216
>threads don't last for weeks

Even some threads on /g/ have lasted for a week or longer.
>>
>>44025125
I thought that was a bit tongue in cheek considering thread life is so low on 4chan.
>>
>>44025125
>by the time they've gone through the bureaucracy of the process required to issue a notice about a specific thread it would of 404'd anyway.
That's the idea. Der Juden get their fancy doom button, all moot has to do is sit on his ass for a few hours and let the thread die on its own.
>>
>>44025242
how many boards are there? how many threads per board? The shit that seems to upset people normally comes from /b/, has a thread even 24 hours in the last 5+ years on /b/?

I just don't see how this is going to work.
>>
Didn't moot just extend the length of time a thread's content can be accessed? As in, it can still be accessed for a couple days after the thread dies?
>>
>>44025296
wat, how? Purged threads don't 404 on refresh?
>>
>>44025296
>>44025310
I just found the place I read that. It's just on blog.4chan.org

>We’re trialling delayed thread pruning on specific boards. While not a true archive, threads on /a/ and /v/ will continue to be accessible for a period of 48 hours after being pushed off of the board index. We may roll this out to additional worksafe (blue) boards in the future, as well as increase or reduce the retention period.
>>
>>44025317
>/a/ & /v/

not that we need it now but confirmation that it doesn't work for /g/.

>>>44023066
>>
If there's any truth to this in terms of Moot actually enforcing it then say goodbye to /t/

That whole board is one big DMCA notice.
>>
Why wouldn't he? More income from the traffic and advertisers that are attracted. As if you wouldn't shit the bed when you're staring down the barrell of a Hollywood jew lawyer who might threaten legal action because he has no safe harbor.
>>
>>44025380
Does it apply since the material is only linked to but not hosted on the site?
>>
>>44025380
It's mostly Japanese porn and they don't tend to care. Besides, it's not like there was anything stopping content owners from sending DMCA notices before.
>>
>>44025380
I doubt much of /t/ isn't going to be removed. Moot only added a dmca because he was afraid of being sued due to recent drama. If /t/ had caused him trouble in the past, he'd have added the DMCA notice earlier.

Either way, it's complicated.

And those little changes stay. They have influence. 4chan hasnt been a quick paced website any more since reCaptchas. >cover his butt from JLaw's lawyers. This'll pass later when everyone cools down.
If 'law' trumps free speech, and if 'law' knows no end which it will legislate, then censorship doesn't end here; this is only the beginning.

If Moot was under some sort of pressure, then I wish he'd turned to the community for support. A front page explanation and plea would have gone far. Yet there wasn't even a blog post about this? Does Moot really even believe in copyright? I don't know. If this is just a face-saving measure rather than practical (automated) implemenation of takedowns then I'd be happy.

The idea of 'illegally shared material' is atrocious. 4chan has always emphasized sharing, images in particular, but video and audio abound aswell. A restriction on sharing is a large change in culture, a change limited only by the imagination of the US copyright system.
>>
>>44027389
>They'll give up when they realize they can't win.
They never give up. 4chan will just get shut down or moot will go to prison, just like with the pirate bay.
>>
>>44027362

Yes, and just think - that company will have to pay that guy every day to do nothing but browse 4chan... and they STILL won't accomplish a damn thing.
>>
>>44027404
moot hates us. He does not give a shit about us. He is a coward and a thief.
>>
>>44027409

>Just like with the pirate bay
Last I checked, the pirate bay is still up. Also, they can't hold Moot liable for his posters. As long as he deletes posts whenever they send a valid DMCA request, he is acting within the requirements of the law.
>>
>>44027413
What they will accomplish is the precedent that they are in the right. They shift the battle from fighting against free speech to enforcing it's death.
>>
>>44027389
>Do you really think companies are going to waste their resources filing DMCA requests
They already do.
There are companies like Remove Your Media and Web Sheriff whose exclusive job is to send DMCA requests to people.
What do you think it will stop them from sending removal requests for here?
>>
>>44025283
Sing.: Der Jude
Pl.: Die Juden

Learn it, if you're gonna use it.
>>
>>44027470

But they will not accomplish actual censorship. A file, once removed, will be replaced quickly, and they will rapidly find that if they want to get rid of a file, they will have to expend a great deal more resources to make it stay that way. Furthermore, if they are spending a great deal of resources to remove a file, they will only exacerbate the problem, because people will begin posting that same file onto other websites, forcing them to hire even more people to keep an eye on even more websites, just to keep one or two images off the net. It will eventually grow to a point where the cost of censorship will be to great for them to keep it up, and they will give up.

The Streisand Effect has worked time and time again because the precedent is, and always will be, that those who attempt to censor the free flow of information are not in the right, but in the wrong.
>>
>>44027481

The point isn't that they can send a DMCA request. The point is that they have to repeatedly send DMCA requests. The point is that the cost of keeping a file from being disseminated grows exponentially over time. The point is that even if they can remove something once or twice, they cannot keep it up. They will lose a war of attrition every time.

For instance:
https://www.chillingeffects.org/notice.cgi?sID=1119964

Completely removing things from the internet is not their objective.

But they will waste resources to remove their content from popular places (e.g, 4chan) to make it less accessible to regular people.

>>
>>44027671

Your link shows that the links were removed from Google, but the files were not able to be removed from the sites listed. Further, Google still links to those sites for other purposes.

A person might not be able to find, say, those bleach episodes by googling for bleach episodes, but if they searched for torrent sites, they might find kickass.to, upon which they could find one of those links that Google removed.

Also, anyone who removes their content from 4chan will find it available on more popular sites than they had initially wished to see it on. If they DMCA'd a file, and then DMCA'd it again after it was re-uploaded 5 or so times, they would find it would make its way onto Twitter, Reddit, Tumblr, Facebook, etc... and the Internet would make a stink about how that company has been trying to censor shit. It's a fruitless endeavor.

>A restriction on sharing is a large change in culture, a change limited only by the imagination of the US copyright system.
This is why there's a movement to promote a society where we share FREE culture. Stop supporting the jews who produce restricted culture. Stop paying attention to that sort of culture. Instead, look for culture where you're encouraged to share with everybody.

yeah, go to anon-ib
>>

I've seen threads on /3/ last for months.
>>
I'm not sure why people are blaming moot for this.
Blame the lawmakers instead - it's not like moot gets a choice on whether or not he follows the law.
>>
>>44026850
Not everyone watches jewish movies anon, especially battle royale ripoffs.
>>
>>44028972
Yes they do.

You hipster neckbeards just want to seem cool, and you think not knowing who world famous celebrities are will achieve that. Truth is, it won't, you just sound like a shut in that never leaves 4chan.
>>
>>44029051
>Yes they do.
No, they don't. Back to plebbit with you faggot.

Yes, they do.

That go back to "x" argument is pretty useless, considering I never leave 4chan.

wut? I thought he did the opposite with thread pruning? Right when a thread 404s now I can't even hover over thumbnails. I remember being able to awhile ago
>>
>>44029964
You can still do it if the images are cached.
>>
Can this bitch just be defamed? You faggots remember when scientology tried to get tom cruises shitfest video removed from the internet? This is getting to be pure faggotry, and honestly the overnet is dun fur.
>>
>>44030026
why aren't my images being cached? On a couple of particular occasions I knew a thread was going to 404 soon so I clicked the button "expand all images" after that I manually scrolled through the thread to actually make sure all images were expanded. Then 5 minutes later when the thread was 404ed the expanded images reduced to thumbnails and I couldn't hover
>>
>>44030052
Increase the browser cache?
>>
>>44030060
like I said earlier, i remember about 4 days ago right when the leaks were happening someone made a thread saying moot changed something and disabled thread pruning. not sure if it was true or not
>>
Upon a recent query of mine into how much time you have to respond to a request, there wasn't a definitive answer.
This leads me to believe 24 hours is practical for a site of this size/administration.
Given that most threads don't even survive that long, you could in theory ignore any and all dmca requests and just have a script ensure any image links/ posts are terminated around the 18 hour mark just to make sure the request is technically complied with, even with archived threads and such.
If anything the response time is too quick given the inevitable autosaging.

Didn't this shit happen with the tom cruise video??? DMCA notices everywhere!

This is all just a way to get 4chan or /b/ constantly monitored by the police (Which it probably is anyway) or taken down.

The governments of the world are afraid of /b/ because it brought a new enemy that they simply didn't know how to fight. Anonymous.

Now they spend crazy amounts of money making anon-e-moose memes and other shit to tear the users apart. For fuck sake did they not just get ariana grande to sing the national anthem to make her look more innocent just to outrage more people over these leaks??

Somebody needs to make a good infographic explaining why all this is apple's fault and spam it across the web

Lawyers gonna lawyer.

>This is all just a way to get 4chan or /b/ constantly monitored by the police (Which it probably is anyway) or taken down.
No-one cares about /b/, and there isn't any plot to pull it down. If there was, why would they bother being subtle?

>The governments of the world are afraid of /b/ because it brought a new enemy that they simply didn't know how to fight. Anonymous.
Pffffttt.

>Now they spend crazy amounts of money making anon-e-moose memes and other shit to tear the users apart.
Pretty sure 4chan can do that on it's own.

>Somebody needs to make a good infographic explaining why all this is apple's fault and spam it across the web
Uh.
Did I just get trolled? If so, well done.

4chan is capable of doing that retarded shit itself.

"ANANAMOUYSE" with the retarded V for Vendetta mask was originally fail guy, a perpetual failure no matter what he did, and the way those fucking retarded faggots claiming to be Anonymous act, I would say it is true to form.

Oh holy guaccamole fuckshit cunt with chockolate-pisstains all over it do none of you kids know how to operate a search engine!?

I had not even heard of 1chan before and after 10 seconds of google and 3 minutes of lurk, I managed to figure out that
>1chan is sign-up and invite-only
>1chan is active, but slower than /f/
>1chan is roughly the same as 4chan, except all boards are red for some reason. dunno if that means nsfw ahoy. also some weird tagging system instead of boards
>the ED article is part of the diversion tactic
