>Chinese overlords incoming
I'm no doomsayer but I would not be surprised if we never become a type one civilization.
Shit is just too fucked.
99% of research data that comes out of China is completely fabricated.
It's nothing but a make work job in a communist country to boost numbers on global scores in education. This isn't going to shock the physics world because they know everything that comes out of the faculty at Chinese universities and science institutions is complete bullshit.
Well they already have the fastest supercomputer in the world I'm not really surprised.
I won't deny that a great of scientists in the field of physics are coming from China, but to think that they won't cut corners where ever theoretically possible, when building a particle collider, is immensely naive.
its such a shame its a shit place to live in terms of human rights and safety from not being raided at a moments notice cause you were doing something some one with money didnt like
>not implying america is much better, america just does it in a different more subtle way that upsets less people.
Also, in their rush to expand and develop, they've completely disregarded the environment.
No, not just the animals. It's a health hazard to humans as well. Everything is polluted, and and most don't have the option to avoid it.
Let's see what a quick search for "chinese fabricated research data" brings up
>A new study from Wuhan University, for instance, estimates that the market for dubious science-publishing activities, such as ghostwriting papers on nonexistent research, was of the order of 1 billion renminbi (US$150 million) in 2009 — five times the amount in 2007. In other studies, one in three researchers surveyed at major universities and research institutions admitted to committing plagiarism, falsification or fabrication of data.
>The most valuable statistic a scientist can tally up is SCI journal credits, especially in journals with higher "impact factors"—ones that are cited more frequently in other scholars’ papers. SCI credits and impact factors are used to judge candidates for doctorates, promotions, research grants and pay bonuses. Some ambitious professors amass SCI credits at an astounding pace. Mr Lin writes that a professor at Ningbo university, in south-east China, published 82 such papers in a three-year span. A hint of the relative weakness of these papers is found in the fact that China ranks just 14th in average citations per SCI paper, suggesting that many Chinese papers are rarely quoted by other scholars.
>The Chinese government is being called on to do more to ensure the scientific integrity of its researchers after UK-based journal Acta Crystallographica Section E was forced to retract dozens of papers describing over 70 crystal structures found to have been fabricated by Chinese researchers.
In the academic and corporate world Chinese research data is regarded as junk. Even researchers in China prefer not to use it.
>chinks fuck around with quantum particles too much
>'accidentally' create mini-black hole
>it expands at 1000mi/s, quickly consuming earth
I always knew the chinese would be the end of us all!
>The most valuable statistic a scientist can tally up is SCI journal credits
That reminds me of this:
Basically this thing automatically generates a fake research paper filled with absolute rubbish and the people at MIT and other schools sometimes submit these fake papers to places just to get a laugh.
They probably won't even bother turning it on unless news crews or foreign researchers are visiting.
They make bullshit up and get well paid for it because of how the bureaucracy for furthering scientific research is done in China. It's nothing but a job to them, the same would happen in the west if the system were set up that way.
I thought you were talking about the USA at first
China is proof that democracy sucks. They have an efficient government, that can't be influenced by bullshit like the kike lobby or feminists. They just do what needs to be done. While Ameriburgers fight about MUH DIVERSITY & MORE WOMYN IN X, China is building genetically superior citizens.
Everything is made in china, including top quality products you god damned idiot.
You pay shit, you get shit i.e. rip off nike shoes. You pay good, you get good i.e. Apple Iphones.
The chinese now have plenty of experience in high level manufacturing. Why can't they use that experience to design high level engineering projects? I'm sure they'd hire foreign engineers if they decided they needed other talent.
Because that's not part of the policy. The plan was to offload manufacturing jobs from the west to china and the west transitions into lighter jobs like computing & scientific research. This is why you're seing job cuts.
>Why can't they use that experience to design high level engineering projects?
They can, but experience manufacturing xboxs most likely will not translate well in to creating a collider.
>I'm sure they'd hire foreign engineers if they decided they needed other talent.
This might have been true in the past but these days, wages in the manufacturing class have been steadily growing and in some cases, the wages are doubling every year. The wages are still comparatively cheap to western wages but workers do leave their current manufacturing jobs to higher paying jobs.
Looks like some scientists are finally realizing the nonsense of continuum mechanics and infinitisemals. Black holes don't exist, at least not in the traditional understanding of black holes. It turns out that they have finite density after all, and gravitational collapse stops right on the surface of the event horizon. There is no infinitely dense singularity.
It's been an ongoing joke in science fiction for decades now, nobody takes the idea seriously. Well asides from those that actually watch the history channel, as the poster above said. I thought it was a joke but a search on youtube shows a 40 minute documentary about black holes on earth from the history channel someone uploaded from his cellphone.
And some scifi that makes light of this trope:
The Chinese can manufacture top quality products. They will manufacture anything to any spec. They will manufacture top quality stuff or low quality stuff depending on what the designer wrote in the spec.
