my laptop gets stuck at the "failure configuring windows, reverting changes" while doing windows updates and im forced to do a system restore
i just want to update to 8.1

So I'm testing out screenfetch on my macbook using osx while I'm away from my desktop for a day or two. I've installed it and can run it from the terminal by using it's full directory, but I want to create an alias for it so I can just run it from anywhere (Or so I think that's what should happen).

I've added

#Screenfetch alias
alias screenfetch="/Users/usernamehere/Documents/screenFetch-master/screenfetch-dev"

to my .bash_profile, but when I run the screenfetch command it just returns

-bash: screenfetch: command not found

Any idea where I'm going wrong? ._.

So I've just installed i3 and gdm on arch. I enabled gdm as my display manager by using

# systemctl enable gdm

in root and then rebooted. gdm started up and I logged into i3, i-i've finally made it. But then I was reminded of something; linux doesn't like to work.

i3 Prompted me to choose between using the alt key or windows key as $mod and I chose the alt key, that all processed smoothly. Once that was over I tried opening a terminal with alt+enter but all I got was a loading wheel for about 15 seconds and then it just went back to a cursor. I tried a few different commands and none worked. So I'm assuming this is because I haven't installed a terminal or any of the other programs and configured i3 to be able to access them.

My problem is, I want to return to root to configure i3, but each time I boot into Arch, it boots straight into gdm and I don't have an option to log in at root. Is there any way I can stop gdm from running so I can log in at root and fix my shit?
