I need to format a MicroSD card (Used in my phone) as I was advised it might fix an issue of disappearing files. It's probably due for a clean out anyway.
Do I need to do anything special so I don't brick it?
My mom gave me her old iPhone 4s but I just use a shitty ass old cell phone (pic related) as my phone cause I'm a loser and use one of those pay as you go type plans where you put x amount of dollars on it every month and it accrues.
I'd really like to transition the iPhone to get phone service on it, however my current phone doesn't even have a SIM card so I guess the # can't carry over, right?
I did get a factory unlock authorized through AT&T and I'm trying to determine the best provider to use with the iPhone. Are there any restrictions on the provider I can use? T-Mobile has this deal where all their SIM cards are 1 cent, maybe go with them?
Two things. I'm techno-illiterate.
1) How hard is it to assemble a computer for someone who never did it before?
2) How can I learn the basics of different topics? How geeksquad fixes computer issues, hardware, email servers...etc.
Someone please tell me the defaults for every one in the dropdown list.
Is there a better laptop satisfying these conditions than a Dell XPS 13-9333 ?
>no nVidia, if Intel graphics then the 5000 (i.e. not 4400 or 4600)
>screen between 11.6" and 14.1" with 1920x1080 resolution
>ULV processor, but highest-end available
Don't bother, you will save yourselves tons of hassle by just reinstalling.
Has anyone ever had trouble connecting a Virgin Mobile Supreme to their Windows 7 PC? I have it set to media device, but it doesn't show up in Computer. It's worked perfectly fine until now, I don't know what the problem is. I tried re-installing the drivers but it still can't connect properly.
At normal volume, my left speaker doesn't make sound unless I turn up the volume a lot, after that I can put it back on normal volume with both speakers working, how do I fix that? is that a problem coming from the speaker? or the synthesizer? it's a Panasonic sa-dh55 (up)
should I replace only the speakers? or get a Logitech z506? (down)
sorry for all the questions I just don't know what to do
android rooted, have greenify, now i'm not getting email notifications until i open the email app (open it, say i have 3 emails, the notifications pop up as i'm opening the inbox). assuming it's greenify that's killing the notifications but the native email app doesn't show up in the app list to whitelist it in greenify. wat do?
does it kind of 'pop' in when you crank it? try changing the speaker wire before trying anything else, this happens to the monitors at the place i work sometimes and usually means the cable is crapping out, but if that doesn't fix it might mean the amp channel is crapping out
I installed debian on my laptop and during the install it was connected through ethernet, but after the instalation when I boot into the OS he recognizes the wired connection but cant connect, i have set managed to true and added auto eth0 and the other line to etc/network/interfaces
maybe it is due to gnome? any help?
Why should or shouldn't I buy this:
Also is there any reason I couldn't use it to let other devices (like another computer or beagle bone black) piggyback off my desktop's internet?
how can I set chromium's new tab page to an html file on my hard disk?
Is there a youtube tutorial on how to root the Moto G LTE?
Why do people say getting the compTIA net+ cert is easy when this shit is actually really really hard? And no I am not retarded but some of the questions these tests ask man....
If I want to build a computer that will have SLI should I choose a power supply with twice the recommended power plus a bit or should I get a power supply with sufficient power for one and 2+ 12v rails?
Like the switch on the case itself? That's what I'm hoping all it is..any way to test a motherboard without the switch? I don't know if there's a dedicated power up button on this one, but I should be able to just short the pins on the board itself right?
If he wants to extend his network then he should just get a switch but if he's trying to make his own network so he can use tor to download cp then I don't see how he'll be able to do it without being noticed.
hi guys, winfag here trying to get into linux
all of the screenies in the esktop threa look nice, how can i make mine look like >>43041138 ?
i assume those are app tabs?

How does pushbullet work? Does it transfer the files over the wifi, over bluetooth, or through the pushbullet servers? I want to know if my files are uploaded to the cloud before being downloaded again to my phone.
I just want more ports, they have something like 5 ports in the room, but only have the number of occupants active (my triple only had 3 ports active), often in inconvenient locations. I want to have more ports for the faster wired network and also for say a little server and a raspberry pi, or bbb, or something.
Also, the wired and wireless are on different subnets so you can't into lan or putty
I haven't had a dual monitor setup since 2005/6.
I'm using an Asus R500A as my daily driver, I'm a CS major, don't plan on any remotely taxing games (IE integrated Intel graphics 4000 will be adequate).
1. Connections. My first thought was to connect the HDMI and VGA ports at the same time, however they're too close together to allow that. (pic related) Should I get some kind of HDMI splitter? Will the integrated graphics allow that? External GPU? Cut down the connectors by hand?
2. Monitors. I don't need anything fancy, I'm using an Acer H233H right now (1080p, 23") - looking to spend under $200/monitor. Any suggestions? Anything to avoid like the plague?
3. Mounts. This seems to be approximately what I'm looking for
Suggestions? Should I look into stands instead of the ones that kind of clip onto the desk? No wall mounts. I would like to be able to put one monitor in portrait orientation - makes writing essays and code nicer.
My weeb friend just built placed this order without asking me what can I do?
Are there any (free) windows 7 compatible video editors that will allow me to edit MKV files, specifically trim or append them, or strip out subtitles or insert them, without re-encoding the video?
Having a GUI would be very much preffered, I'm not /g/ enough to use command line stuff unless I have step by step directions given to me.
I'm a pussy, so I dual-boot Linux and Windows. Currently all of my music is stored on the Windows side, but I want to access my collection on both without having to copy it, as it's quite large. Can I make some sort of partition or folder that both sides can use?
What do you think of this build? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/VfXndC
Intended use: Light to medium gaming, mobile application development, undergraduate computer science work, media consumption, internet browsing
that should have been the slightly updated picture
is there any android app that makes it possible to crop an animated gif and keep it animated?
My external HDD that had my music on it died, unfortunately no backups. However I have all of that music on my iPhone. Is there any way to get my music off my iPhone and the playlists I created? I've been researching this but all I can find is paid software that might or might not work.
Not tech support, but my parents' computer has been kernel panicking (flashing caps lock and scroll lock). Memtest for 35 hours found no errors. Replacing the hard disk and reinstalling the OS did nothing -- the issue persists. At this point should I just replace everything?
E-Mails, e-mails, e-mails,..
I thought it's a given that the sender's IP will be added to the header. How come e-mails sent from cock.li using their web mail have these weird headers? Is there a name for this practice?

sup /g/, I'm moving my PC ~40 mins by road, what precautions should I take? should i take my graphics card and HDDs out? anything else?
Why is TeraCopy better than the default Windows copier? Why are Microsofts default programs so shit? Why?
Also, do you guys recommend Antergos (Arch linux; http://antergos.com/) for a beginner? I'm just going to dual boot it with Windows 8.1 (for games and certain software) I'm going to install Linux once I remove this leftover System Partition. (I must have left the boot files there before I got a SSD)
Unless you're going on significantly bad roads for the entire 40 mins and won't be driving slow, you'll be fine.
Your parts were transported around the world in worse conditions than you'll ever put them through yourself.
I want to improve my music listening experience with my pc. The headphone volume is usually low and weak with the bass, but I don't know if this has to do with my gear or where I'm plugging things into.
I've got these headphones: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826125193
Which I plug into the control for these speakers: http://www.amazon.com/Genius-SW-G2-1-1250-Speaker-System/dp/B0056BPUQC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405559658&sr=8-1&keywords=gx+gaming+speaker
What should be the first things I consider to improve things? Is an amplifier generally a good investment? Should I get my hearing checked?
Your PC should be able to draw enough power to break your headphones. If you cannot hear anything or specifically base, your headphones are just not designed to do so.
An amp will not help do anything but distort your sound. You can do certain things like 'enhance your music' using programs, but anything in general I'm not too sure.
Tbh with you, I am by far from an expert on sound. I am only telling you in general what your problem sounds like to me, and I could be way off. I bet /mu/ or a real expert could help you so much more than I could
I have a Verizon XT1029 Moto G, Apparently its IMPOSSIBLE to unlock the bootloader. Any Ideas on how to do it despite everybody (including Motorola) saying i can't? Is there any way to edit the code for the bootloader itself? I desperately need this because i hate stock android, and wanna flash Paranoid Android on it. Please help /g/
How do I use the SOCKS 5 proxy from Private Internet Access ? I tried plugging it in firefox' proxy setting but I cant connect to any websites and it never prompts me for user name and password.
This is a DAW question
I'm using FL Studio, and trying to use Reaktor 5, but I'm getting no sound.
I have the main .dll for Reaktor 5, and 3 other .dll files that are Reaktor 5 Surround, Reaktor 5 FX and Reaktor 5 FX 2x8. I've tried uploading these all into the mixer, but I still get no sound from Reaktor, can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?
So about a week ago i downgraded from Debian Sid to Testing because there was a bug with the latest fglrx drivers, basically apt-get wanted to remove it.
So after a week of being on Testing and assuming that it wouldve been fixed before moved into Testing repositories, today i do apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade and again apt-get want to remove fglrx.
What is this bullshit?
Should i just downgrade to stable? will this happen again in Stable?
What is the program that people use to show the temps of the various components of their desktop computers that I always see here? Grey background and simple layout, often cropped and posted with pictures of peoples battlestations.
I bought a Nexus 5 just barely a month ago and so far love it
I got a warranty from Best Buy because the employee who was setting up the phone with the carrier essentially said I can get a new phone for any problem, including "battery not holding charge", so in my mind I figured it's worth it as it'll save me any buyer's remorse if a newer or cheaper phone came out
does anyone know if there is, in fact, a phone in the Nexus 5's price range coming out that would make it worthwhile to switch to? the warranty covers the cost of the phone rather than just giving me a replacement, and in Canada the Nexus 5 is valued at ~$600
also inb4 >buying warranties
Where can I find a build script to compile gsdjvu?
The official script only compiles using an outdated GhostScript, but the outdated GhostScript hangs on my PDF file and the mainstream pdf2djvu converter is too dumb to achieve a competing Djvu file.
If anything to improve the bass, try to adjust the equalizer. You only need an amp if your headphones need more power in order to get to an acceptable volume, however, with more power comes more distortion. With higher quality amplifiers, their distortion usually goes down.
From the picture with that speaker system, I'm assuming you're plugging in the headphones into that jack on the front of the amplifier for them? Well with those they do have a bass control switch, and maybe you just turned it all the way down.
Other than that, you should just plug in the headphones straight into the computer if you can.
Or just not get gaymen headphones and a gaymen stereo, but that's for your next purchase.
tried to update windows 8 on my laptop, got this error message and it seemed stuck there forever so I reset my laptop to factory settings. If I try updating win8 again, will i get the same error message? i just want to update to win8.1
Is µBlock confirmed for better than AdBlock Plus on Chrome yet? It's got some weird lists out of the box, so I'm not what the hell to make of it.
Nexus 4 is dying. Need to replace the battery, audio jack and maybe camera. Now I can do this, or just get a new phone. I just use my phone to keep in contact when traveling and GPS. Battery is important, if it's android having a good Dev community is nice since I can flash roms, etc.
I can get a moto g, Nokia 520 or a one plus. The +1 is a bit of an over kill but it checks all my boxes, the moto g LTE could be good, but no idea what the Dev community will be like. And the 520 seems good, but what's the quality of the Nokia maps?
whats a good firefox script/add-on that can be used for image hover that you can actually disable on here and other websites i'd rather use inline extensions.
i am using mouse over from greasemonkey and that shit still goes even if i add excluded pages
I have a bunch of torrent files and their associated files and am making the jump from Utorrent to deluge. How do I set the torrents up so I can continue seeding? Google yields spotty results and occasionally a file called resume.dat that apparently is necessary for something.
should i worry about fragmented files when downloading torrents ? what torrent client for linux
will avoid getting my files fragmented (which one has the best implementation of preallocation)
I'd assume you'd have to move the files you want to seed to the download location for the torrent, making sure none of the filenames are changed from the default from the torrent. Then just open the original torrent file that you'd use to initiate the torrent, and it should recognize that you have the files already downloaded.
At least that's what i'd think to do for now.
I need a new notebook >500eur. will mainly use it for some excel, words and photoshop/lightroom shit.
what's good these days? which brands I should look out for?
please note that I also appreciate the design factor. so please no ugly ones.
T mobile is definitely the best carrier in the us, for sure. I actually used an iphone 4s with my tmo pay as you go plan and it was blissful. I had no data service, but it doesnt matter for me, as im almost always within a trusted wifi network.
Tmo pay as you go is dirt cheap too. I pay 100 dollars per year, and thats good for 1000 minutes/texts, then I just use wifi for everything else. Ios8 will have wifi calling for tmo customers too. Its definitrly your best option
that's called design factor.
some people cares about aesthetic some neckbears permavirgin not. why do you need to judge?
>just how it looks
not "just". like I said I ALSO appreciate the design.
and <500eur. and on side note I only have had bought 1 apple product b4. so, no, I'm not a macfag but still I can appreciate aesthetic and value.
Can I sue over this fan noise making my bedroom unusable if the decibel measurement is below the legal limit, or will I need to tear out the carpet to get it loud enough?
How do I change the settings on 4chan SS + Oneechan?
Whenever I click the Oneechan option it just makes the screen turn dark and no options pop up
Doubt it. Searching the IPs leads all over the place, and the same addresses have been reported for doing the same thing for years. My firewall blocks/drops/denies all the attacks, just curious as to why someone would attempt it.
Just get the universal theme patcher for windows 7. Then install a luna vs like:
Then you might want to get an XP startbutton and install it with W7 Orb Changer, you also get it from deviantart, look it up.
I guess that would be enough?
Mediamonky is a player, derived from winamp. One feature is the ability to generate tags from filenames and vice versa. Also it does this: look for album with match songlengths online, use that albums metadata for local album.
There should be other tools doing that. google for mp3 auto tagger
Does it make a difference to boycott the google search engine if you still use their other products like youtube and recaptcha? I've tried using free page, it's decent but clearly inferior to google.
it makes a small difference. youtube can be used anonymously, I suggest to switch away from gmail. During the migration-process you can redirect email to any other email-provider.
>At least your researches aren't recorded, right?
I don't know about Google, do they record researches. But your ISP does.
> But does it make a difference for my privacy if use gmail and youtube and a ton of their other products anyway?
i am wanting to upgrade my motherboard and case to a corsair 350d (window) and an asus rog maximus 7 gene (matx) but i have crossfire r9 290s (tri x from sapphire). will it be safe to run the cards so close together?
I use youtube a lot so I can't turn away from it. I regularly follow a ton of channels and also use it for cataloging music before downloading full albums. I guess I might as well be a good goy and keep using google.
Yes, there is a point. Most of the things you would search for on YouTube would be relatively harmless linked to you. Use Startpage.com. They get Google results anonymously for you.
What is meaning of this 'a'.
I'm using chromium on linux mint.
there are no big free services. If you don't pay with money, you pay with something else (usually ads and/or data).
As long as you are aware of that, everything is fine. Not everyone values their personal information as high as some people do, so for others it's viable to use those services.
OK I'm not new to Tor or Freenet, I've been on both and I know EXACTLY what both have.
HOWEVER I am not as advanced as I wish I were. I have heard recent rumors that most of Tor's sites are NSA/FBI at this point and accessing them CAN lead into a lot of trouble as it has always been.
What about Freenet? I've not heard any rumors on freenet at all. I've barely heard any one talk about it. I know what it is, I have it on my mint machine but I don't know much more than the Linkageddon site.
Do they want to achieve the same thing as Tor was suppose to?
I have a .tar.gz file of a firmware I need to install on eOS. It's a wireless card firmware so I have no internet connection to download firmware from so I have to do it manually offline.
My question is how do I use the terminal to install it? Or can I unpack the file into the /firmware/ directory and have it work that way?
I really don't care about FaceBook, Google and other big fishes in ocean,
What I'm really concerned about, is, lil wannabe hacker boys and similar.
Big fishes don't have time to spy on me neither they have some plans against me,
But lil guys, maybe.
So, just use YT or whatever, but make your privacy info very strict.
When using mega, it always says "Don't share the link with the key it will undo our cryptography blah blah".
Is it seriously harmful to them to share links, or are they just trying to dissuade people from using it as a file sharing site?
>I really don't care about FaceBook, Google and other big fishes in ocean,
>What I'm really concerned about, is, lil wannabe hacker boys and similar.
>Big fishes don't have time to spy on me neither they have some plans against me,
>But lil guys, maybe.
I'm the opposite. I don't want the government to start searching my computer or my browsing history. People have had their lives ruined just because they torrented games/music/movies or doujins a little too "osé".
>People have had their lives ruined just because they torrented games/music/movies or doujins a little too "osé".
I'm more scared of hacker boys then big hacker boys..
I don't know what to say.
Also use it as proxy for shitposting.
>that feel when no one will answer your question
Also, I tried to extract it manually but it won't let me for some reason. I assume it's because I need sudo permission to extract files to the /sys/firmware/ folder.
Can someone take pity on me and please answer?
It's because neckbeards who gave up on vagina go full retard and spammed the ENTIRE-FUCKING-INTERNET with this shit with their right hand, while rubbing one out to it with the other.
I make a thread once in a blue asking /co/ their thoughts on MLP, however I do not condone to being an autistic faggot. I actually like to see what /co/ thinks on the subject. I will agree like you most likely, we both hate almost all bronies. The show doesn't suck, it's not even technically for little girls. Lauren Faust stated that the show is meant for everyone to enjoy. So a family could sit and watch it.
not even at all. did you completely skip my most on purpose or are you this dumb?
It's this hole "Tolerant" bullshit lately that everyone wants to be into something that the other sex would love. Girls love cars, guys love fashion. Men want to be woman, woman want to complain about rights and so on.
It has turned into this debate that asks whether or not you are an autistic horse lover to a cartoon person. I love cartoons. I try any cartoon to see what the animation is like. I was watching my nephew while my sister was busy doing shit and was watching a show called "Umizumi." the show is meant for preschoolers and alike and is great for them to learn. What I do like about this show (in general) is the cgi and how far cartoons can go so far. But original animation is best to me.
stop being dumb anon
How do Boolean expressions work on integers? Do I have to convert them into binary and then go ahead?
so for those with private music trackers and are super anal about tags, how do you keep seeding while having accurate tags?
One solution I see is having separate copies of music files, but copying from torrent to collection folders is tedious. What solutions are there?
Okay so I have this Thinkpad running linux, the fn combination for turning off screen simply won't work (I think that's fn+f7) nor the tiny lamp in top of the screen (which was really funny and I loved).
I know "xset dpms force standby" works just fine, but how do I make it so that command is executed whenever I do fn+f7, I know can configure that with rc.xml bu I'm not sure how to do it.
Debian Testing laptop.
Yesterday worked perfectly. I just did apt-get update and dist-upgrade. It seems that it removed some packages. Now on boot I get a black screen with the login prompt. startx won't work.
>loading extension GLX
>Fatal server error
>xinit: giving up
>xinit: unable to conecto to X server: connection refused
Is there any way to go back in apt?
I am pissed off that Debian, which is praised for stability, generated a problem just from the basic commands that manage the updates.
Any tips? Googling, but hell, I am in deep shit. Any help would be more than welcome.
Visit /g/ and /sci/ every now and then. Dont follow the drama.
You seem like a cool guy anon.
Why did people get so mad about it? I dont care much for anime. Anime is spammed all the time on /g/. I dont get upset everytime I see an anime pic.
The max resolution of the monitor is detected incorrectly (1600x1200 instead of 1920x1080). Reinstalling drivers does nothing. Some anon yesterday recommended to restore the monitor to factory defaults but I'm not sure how to do it.
I have R9 270, Windows 8.1 64 bit, my monitor is Flatron E2241V-BN.
NVidia geforce 105M (Laptop)
Can I just try and install all what it might have gone missing with the update?
Maybe apt uninstalled some essential elements to xorg?
What do you suggest?
I usually only install software from the repos. I switched to Nvidia drivers almost a year ago. I don't remember how I did it exactly.
I am sorry if this doesn't answer your question, but I am not quite linux savvy and I don't know what to tell you about binaries.
The website says otherwise. You sure you didn't misread the product number?
What then? Should I kill myself? Stick to the windows partition?
I fucked the x. Help, /g/.
Hello /g/, I currently have a nokia lumia 920 but it's a piece of shit so I was looking at getting a Nexus 5 or the LG G3, however I don't give a shit about the 2560x1440 on the G3 and think that it will shit up the performance and battery life.
My question is the nexus 5 worth getting?
Alternatively this. Under your monitor properties.
just use google. seriously. you dont have to worry if youre not some l33t h4x0r
and if you ever want to do something illegal then think about if its worth the risk and then use tor or whatever is appropirate for your purposes
I currently own a GTX 580.
I'm thinking of upgrading to an 880 when it comes out. I know it's not a very smart idea to buy it on release considering the fact that they're going to be using a new chipset and everything.
What problems would I encounter?

I have to put 1080p as maximium manually through Catalyst in low resolution video mode, because 1600x1200 doesn't fucking fit on the screen.
Some anon said it's because old fags love him and because muh sekret klub.
>How hard is it to use Linux for someone who has never used it before
It depends if you're capable of looking shit up on google, and following instructions.
If you can at least do that, you'll be fine.
>should a common Internet user like me even care about linux
Sure. GNU/Linux will provide you freedoms that Windows takes away from you, and allows for more customisation.
Less than half of my games work on Steam for Linux.
At least Dota 2 is for Linux but not CS:GO.
Okay, serious question guys. I created really simple chatbox on my page (in php, fuck me, right?), it works but I set a script that load every second content of db to the chat window and this probably isn't the most efficient way. But how can I run this loading script for all who have chat window open, only when someone post message (= insert data into db) without nonstop checking?
Search it during the day when there's light. You probbly wont be able to locate it when its dark (for example a blackout), because you'd need the flashlight for that.
How can I prevent Google Chrome to show porn in my most visited pages when I open an empty tab? It even does that at work.
This is the
I cannot remove
no matter what.
I am going to try and reinstall the Nvidia Drivers, but the mentioned package seems to be blocking this.
I tried all kind of shit and I am in desperate need. All begun with a simple update; afterwards I just get the black login screen.
If there is a way to undo the upgrades from apt I would be very grateful to know.
>Debian Testing laptop.
>I am pissed off that Debian, which is praised for stability, generated a problem just from the basic commands that manage the updates.
You were using *Testing*, you fucking asked for it. If you wanted stability you should have stuck with STABLE. Don't shit on Debian for your own mistakes. Some random guys on the internet might have bragged about how testing/unstable "werks for them" but Debian has never advocated Testing or Unstable without a huge disclaimer saying "your shit will probably break."
Anyways, there's a good discussion about this over on leddit. Seems like the latest update removed NVIDIA drivers, so you should probably do what that one guy did and revert to nouveau for the time being.
What the fuck am I reading?!
Thanks. I lost my afternoon with this and I am quite depressed. I didn't mean to shit on Debian. I truly love it, but it bothered me that the updating process brought me here. I was a Stable user before, but many packages were missing (e.g. mpv) and I switched. I'll check reddit.
I felt like I was almost a bit too mean there but yeah, testing breaks sometimes. Hopefully you'll get it fixed or at least come up with a workaround. If you want to be on the safe side run apt-get upgrade, that'll only install new software instead of removing and could have prevented the removal of the drivers. You should always make sure the proposed removals of apt-get dist-upgrade are okay before running it for this reason.
Personally I prefer stable. There are a few pieces of software like GNU Emacs and LLVM/Clang that I need the newer versions of, but you can often find either a backport or repo that offers new versions that still work on Stable. If nothing else, you can backport the software or compile it yourself. Just make sure you don't mix and match Stable and Testing/Unstable packages or you're in for a world of pain.
I'm a faggot who wanted to into crypto, and I installed trisquel. Did I fuck up? Every program recommended on the /g/ wiki seems to be for fedora, and occasionally gentoo or something. Should I switch to one of those OSes?
Ah, yes. They warned me about not mixing them.
I don't feel you were being mean. I also defend Debian or Linux in general when somebody tries to throws shade on it.
I will try to got back to Noveau (I just need the GUI, not gaming) following the advice from the redditors. Anyway, I learned something today: I will run the updates differently from now on.

I remember threads about firefox addons, which also had Adblock filters for google analystics and stuff. Does anyone have a pastebin link or some other info regarding this ?
