My mom gave me her old iPhone 4s but I just use a shitty ass old cell phone (pic related) as my phone cause I'm a loser and use one of those pay as you go type plans where you put x amount of dollars on it every month and it accrues.

I'd really like to transition the iPhone to get phone service on it, however my current phone doesn't even have a SIM card so I guess the # can't carry over, right?

I did get a factory unlock authorized through AT&T and I'm trying to determine the best provider to use with the iPhone. Are there any restrictions on the provider I can use? T-Mobile has this deal where all their SIM cards are 1 cent, maybe go with them?

Pls help

I haven't had a dual monitor setup since 2005/6.
I'm using an Asus R500A as my daily driver, I'm a CS major, don't plan on any remotely taxing games (IE integrated Intel graphics 4000 will be adequate).

1. Connections. My first thought was to connect the HDMI and VGA ports at the same time, however they're too close together to allow that. (pic related) Should I get some kind of HDMI splitter? Will the integrated graphics allow that? External GPU? Cut down the connectors by hand?

2. Monitors. I don't need anything fancy, I'm using an Acer H233H right now (1080p, 23") - looking to spend under $200/monitor. Any suggestions? Anything to avoid like the plague?

3. Mounts. This seems to be approximately what I'm looking for
>http://www.ebay.com/itm/271522420042?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D271522420042%26_rdc%3D1
Suggestions? Should I look into stands instead of the ones that kind of clip onto the desk? No wall mounts. I would like to be able to put one monitor in portrait orientation - makes writing essays and code nicer.

I want to improve my music listening experience with my pc. The headphone volume is usually low and weak with the bass, but I don't know if this has to do with my gear or where I'm plugging things into.

I've got these headphones: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826125193

Which I plug into the control for these speakers: http://www.amazon.com/Genius-SW-G2-1-1250-Speaker-System/dp/B0056BPUQC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405559658&sr=8-1&keywords=gx+gaming+speaker

Your PC should be able to draw enough power to break your headphones. If you cannot hear anything or specifically base, your headphones are just not designed to do so.

An amp will not help do anything but distort your sound. You can do certain things like 'enhance your music' using programs, but anything in general I'm not too sure.

Tbh with you, I am by far from an expert on sound. I am only telling you in general what your problem sounds like to me, and I could be way off. I bet /mu/ or a real expert could help you so much more than I could

I bought a Nexus 5 just barely a month ago and so far love it

I got a warranty from Best Buy because the employee who was setting up the phone with the carrier essentially said I can get a new phone for any problem, including "battery not holding charge", so in my mind I figured it's worth it as it'll save me any buyer's remorse if a newer or cheaper phone came out

does anyone know if there is, in fact, a phone in the Nexus 5's price range coming out that would make it worthwhile to switch to? the warranty covers the cost of the phone rather than just giving me a replacement, and in Canada the Nexus 5 is valued at ~$600

If anything to improve the bass, try to adjust the equalizer. You only need an amp if your headphones need more power in order to get to an acceptable volume, however, with more power comes more distortion. With higher quality amplifiers, their distortion usually goes down.

From the picture with that speaker system, I'm assuming you're plugging in the headphones into that jack on the front of the amplifier for them? Well with those they do have a bass control switch, and maybe you just turned it all the way down.

Other than that, you should just plug in the headphones straight into the computer if you can.

Or just not get gaymen headphones and a gaymen stereo, but that's for your next purchase.

Nexus 4 is dying. Need to replace the battery, audio jack and maybe camera. Now I can do this, or just get a new phone. I just use my phone to keep in contact when traveling and GPS. Battery is important, if it's android having a good Dev community is nice since I can flash roms, etc.

I can get a moto g, Nokia 520 or a one plus. The +1 is a bit of an over kill but it checks all my boxes, the moto g LTE could be good, but no idea what the Dev community will be like. And the 520 seems good, but what's the quality of the Nokia maps?

I'd assume you'd have to move the files you want to seed to the download location for the torrent, making sure none of the filenames are changed from the default from the torrent. Then just open the original torrent file that you'd use to initiate the torrent, and it should recognize that you have the files already downloaded.

At least that's what i'd think to do for now.

Tmo pay as you go is dirt cheap too. I pay 100 dollars per year, and thats good for 1000 minutes/texts, then I just use wifi for everything else. Ios8 will have wifi calling for tmo customers too. Its definitrly your best option

OK I'm not new to Tor or Freenet, I've been on both and I know EXACTLY what both have.

HOWEVER I am not as advanced as I wish I were. I have heard recent rumors that most of Tor's sites are NSA/FBI at this point and accessing them CAN lead into a lot of trouble as it has always been.

What about Freenet? I've not heard any rumors on freenet at all. I've barely heard any one talk about it. I know what it is, I have it on my mint machine but I don't know much more than the Linkageddon site.

It has turned into this debate that asks whether or not you are an autistic horse lover to a cartoon person. I love cartoons. I try any cartoon to see what the animation is like. I was watching my nephew while my sister was busy doing shit and was watching a show called "Umizumi." the show is meant for preschoolers and alike and is great for them to learn. >Debian Testing laptop.
>I am pissed off that Debian, which is praised for stability, generated a problem just from the basic commands that manage the updates.

You were using *Testing*, you fucking asked for it. If you wanted stability you should have stuck with STABLE. Don't shit on Debian for your own mistakes. Some random guys on the internet might have bragged about how testing/unstable "werks for them" but Debian has never advocated Testing or Unstable without a huge disclaimer saying "your shit will probably break."

Anyways, there's a good discussion about this over on leddit. Seems like the latest update removed NVIDIA drivers, so you should probably do what that one guy did and revert to nouveau for the time being.

What the fuck am I reading?!

Thanks. I lost my afternoon with this and I am quite depressed. I didn't mean to shit on Debian. I truly love it, but it bothered me that the updating process brought me here. I was a Stable user before, but many packages were missing (e.g. mpv) and I switched. I'll check reddit.
>>
>>43052373
I felt like I was almost a bit too mean there but yeah, testing breaks sometimes. Hopefully you'll get it fixed or at least come up with a workaround. If you want to be on the safe side run apt-get upgrade, that'll only install new software instead of removing and could have prevented the removal of the drivers. You should always make sure the proposed removals of apt-get dist-upgrade are okay before running it for this reason.

Personally I prefer stable. There are a few pieces of software like GNU Emacs and LLVM/Clang that I need the newer versions of, but you can often find either a backport or repo that offers new versions that still work on Stable. If nothing else, you can backport the software or compile it yourself. Just make sure you don't mix and match Stable and Testing/Unstable packages or you're in for a world of pain.

Ah, yes. They warned me about not mixing them.
I don't feel you were being mean. I also defend Debian or Linux in general when somebody tries to throws shade on it.

I will try to got back to Noveau (I just need the GUI, not gaming) following the advice from the redditors. Anyway, I learned something today: I will run the updates differently from now on.

Again, thanks.
