Is the T-Mobile $30/Mo Prepaid No Contract, Unlimited Data, 100 minutes + Google Nexus 5 still the /g/ approved optimal non-deprecated phone + contract config?

and for people who actually use minutes i think you can even use voip or some google voice or some shit to basically get free minutes? (may or may not require wifi)
>>
Anyone?

I have SERO at the moment and debating dropping it
>>
>Nexus 5
>>
yes. get it. Dont believe in any one in here who parrots

>muh specs
>muh ilag
>>
>>42946192
>>42946250
what other android phone would people ven say to get

i know /g/ has had some samshills

iphone's not even an option
>>
oh and i'd like to use cyanogenmod, does it have a good/stable nexus 5 release?

i'd guess that it does.
>>
>>42945711
IDK much about TMobile but I recently got a Nexus 5 and it's great
>>
>>42946478
did you root it/install a custom rom?
>>
>>42946499
going to this weekend sorry
>>
>>42946516
me too, probably

well, i was gonna order it online, can you / should you buy it from store?
>>
>>42945711
Only if you never actually call anyone. Which, for you standard /g/ member, is not a concern.
>>
>>42946420
Xiaomi Mi-3?
>>
>>42946523
I ordered mine online, I imagine it's a lot more expensive at a store
>>
>>42946432
the nexus has the best dev support so yes it is stable
>>
>>42945711
Now you have more options.
Walmart has a cheap plan for those that need more minutes.

Also I really want an LG G3.
>>
>>42946560
of course not

you know even normalfags text like crazy instead of calling too, right?
>>
>>42945711

Yes, I got one a month ago. Came from VM, so far getting better coverage at a cheaper price and this phone has a lot of dev support. Every app I've shown at it so far has worked smooth like butter.
>>
also that 30$ t-mobile is iirc is unlimited butonly 4G for like the first 2GB/mo and 3G thereafter or some shit, right?

still way better than most shit plans

makes me wonder when it will disappear since it's prepaid and not contract.
>>
>>42946829

It's actually 5GB of 4G before it hits 3G.
>>
>>42946829
Its 5gb at 4G then it kicks down to 3g after
>>
>>42946858
>>42946856
>>42946829
has anyone ever heard of getting into trouble for tethering with it?

since technically it's supposed to be phone only data
>>
>>42946868

They don't care, in fact they endorse it.
>>
>>42946894
well, they'd totally care if i downloaded 24/7/365 with it, so there's a limit somewhere

not that im gonna
>>
>>42946903
Of course there is a limit but it's not like VM where they disconnect your service for using a hotspot.
>>
>>42946921
What is VM?
>>
>>42946903
>>42946903
>>42946903

IT'S NOT
NOT
NOT
NOT
UNLIMITED

I REPEAT NOT UNLIMITED

5GB of data is at up to 4G speeds

The rest of it is throttled to 56k speeds
>>
>>42946934
It's 3G, not "56k"

It is unlimited. Just the speed goes down
>>
>>42946932

Virgin Mobile AKA shrint
>>
>>42946856
No it doesn't. It throttles you way way slower than 3G speeds bro. Don't believe the lies.

My average speed after the 5GB is 0.1mbps. I've tested it.
>>
>>42946934
Its 3G speeds man. Take it easy
>>
>>42946944
see
>>42946955

I can vouch for it throttling you to insanely low speeds. I think they throttle you to EDGE, not to 3G
>>
>>42946952
shrint..?
>>
so i have to go to a walmart or some place in person to get this plan right?
>>
>>42947010
It's his funny way of saying sprint while badly attempting to integrate the word "shit"
>>
Only the first 5GB are 4G. The speeds afterwards are horribly slow.
>>

2g.png
51 KB, 510x400
It's 2G after the first 5GB. Not 3G.

Don't expect anything remotely usable for anything but checking one random google search if you need to quickly.
>>
>>42947035

Just order a Nexus 5 from their prepaid site?
>>
>>42947054
ah i see

i have sprint and they suck so i can agree with that

i'm done with SERO
>>
>>42947133
>>42947121

>2G

highway robbery
>>
>>42947134
i aws going to order a nexus 5 from google online

but i mean for the sim card and plan

or can i order the sim online too
>>
>>42947145
For $30 i can't complain. 5GB is enough to get me through a month
>>
>>42947035
>>42947134
No no no.

Buy a nexus 5 from wherever. Used on ebay, directly from google, whatever you want.

Make sure you have an appropraitely sized sim card of course. Should come with any new Nexus 5.

Then go to the T mobile website and set up your credit card to auto-pay the $30/month plan with the 100 mins. Or just buy one month manually.

The walmart shit is another plan. I don't even remember if they still have it. It's like unlimited talk unlimited text but like no data at all.
>>
>>42945711
>T-Mobile $30/Mo Prepaid No Contract, Unlimited Data, 100 minutes

What kind of unlimited data?
>>
Even if it does dip down to 2G after you use 5GB on 4G it's still a significantly cheaper and more generous plan than the ones offered to you by the other major carriers.
>>
>>42947145
5GB for $30 for phones is a really good deal on its own (along with unlimited text)

Still fuck them for 2G.
>>
>>42947133
what the actual fuck?

they might as well say it's a 5GB plan, looks like unlimited data is kill in burgerland.

better than AT&T's $45 for 2GB though kek
>>
>>42947172
The point is, to the people wanting to tether from the phone for anything but an emergency or when your ISP goes down:

Don't.
>>
>>42947152

It comes with a sim on the prepaid site with a $30 refill card.
>>
>>42947160
wait, so the nexus5 if i buy it online from google has a sim installed, and i just can setup t-mobile online?
i thought you needed a sim from t-mobile
>>
>>42947324
Oh you're right. You need a micro sim from t mobile. I just remember my nexus 4 came with a t mobile sim but I think it's because I bought it from t mobile themselves.

Literally only the S5 until the Moto X1 gets released.

>AMOLEL

>Google bloat
>bloat
You know it's stock android right? Literally a piece of shit like an S4 is going to have google "bloat" IN ADDITION to samsung bloat and bloat from the provider.

no microSD sucks but no removable battery is a common thing these days so it's not a deal breaker.

Camera on the 5 is decent. 4 was shit.
battery life is decent too
screen is fantastic you're fucking ignorant
build quality on nexus devices is really good partially because no removable battery or microSD slot lead to more solid build with less flimsy parts. Waterproof is a gimmick. You would never ever go in the water with your phone even if it was advertised as "waterproof"

For the money it's an excellent value until the opo restocks
>>
>>42947372

>google bloat

Funny since I've never installed gapps.
>>
>>42947436
>opo restocks
what's opo?

Oneplus One

>Hardware to rival or surpass phones like the HTC One M8

Been out of stock since release. You can only buy one if you know someone who knows someone
>>
>>42947477
>chink
fucking knew it.
>>
>>42947566
Be as biasd as you want. I don't care how closed your mind is. Just about every single review gives it two thumbs up. Not to mention 99% of phones are made in china.
>>
>>42947588
>company LITERALLY founded in 2013

nice try conflating "made in" with "DESIGNED IN"

chinks are ok for building shit

not designign shit

this phone stinks of something going on

We know literally everything you just said dumbaSS. Do you think you're special? Do you think you're the ONLY GUY IN THE ENTIRE WORLD who figured something out? Gee wow you're so smart.

EVERYBODY was skeptical. Then the review copies came out. There is no catch. None. Not one single fucking person has been able to find an enormous flaw with it.
