Meatspace thread.

Discuss hacker spaces, excellent brick and mortar stores (I'm particularly interested in used parts stores in NYC), physical hacks, anything related to /g/ and leaving the house.

Pic related, Chaos Computer Club.

CCC would be even cooler than DEFCON, but the trip would be so expensive...

yes dyed orange hair looks awful
I have no idea why he's wearing a hood like that. Maybe he's camera shy, some people are just like that.
german hackers seem to like covering everything in stickers, especially laptops. I like the clean look of a work laptop, but I understand the desire to show affiliation with meaningful projects such as Debian and the EFF
none of those laptops are 10 years old, and half of the thinkpads are post-chiclet keyboard
club-mate isn't beer, it's a caffeinated drink popular in germany, especially at the CCC. What's wrong with craft beer anyway? If it makes you cringe then you should avoid most European countries.

Quit worrying about how other people live their lives and attend to yours. Those people are winning. They were at CCC working on cool stuff and meeting hackers while you were at home cringing at stuff.

been to the last 2 def cons. from what i know theyre pretty much another massive lan party but you can buy the most insane things there from independent sellers. a lot of its homemade, but normally real high quality stuff. last year i actually decided to buy things and i went home with one of those assault rifle mega mousepads but with gabe n on it, a raspberry pi and arduio for $20 combined (brand new), some neat little objects turned into usb drives, and multitool i got for free. i dont do any super heavy programming but it was a 9/10 and cant wait for this years.

Yeah same here 21, and yeah you are right teaching yourself is more rewarding but it also takes more time. Plus I am a firm believer that two brains work better than one, so the amount of ideas that could pour out of each other could potentially bring a lot of financial stability to the two of us, or to a group of us.

As someone who has a degree and CISSP, no.
Employers care way more about actual skills than what pieces of paper you have. If you can reverse/analyze malware employers will suck your dick even if you dropped out of high school.

Apparently you are living in Bangladesh, but again: Unless you are specialized in process management, automation tools, AI/machine learning and big database managment, your qualification means shit for every serious employer. Don't even try to argue how efficient you can reverse engineer malware, the codemonkeys at Kaspersky do this for minimum wage already. And don't imply any company will hire you for reverse engineering random crapware lol. Thats just ridiculous and again proves me right with you not knowing anything about the IT market.

have fun competing for the 5 jobs that require that. Then try not to cry when they decide to cut that job because they have to pay you too much and instead outsource it.
Have you ever worked outside of fast food before or are you just regurgitating what the recruiter for your retarded "almost computer science" degree told you?
>>
>>42877425

>>42879278
You are pretty naive. Have you ever done any traveling? I have worked on three different continents in the tech industry and the office politics is completely different, depending on the culture.

Also, the reason I said that is that article is about America. So don't try to construe the authors comments to mean that they apply everywhere.
>>
>>42879309
>have fun competing for the 5 jobs that require that.

Nice joke. Any more Bangladeshians wanna report in? Aside from not having to compete anymore, being employed fairly long already. The fact that you had not a single argument plus your ad hominem rage just proves me even more right.

But at least it's understandable to rage for these neet pleb tier codemonkeys.
