Does anyone know the name of those jackets that block photographs? I think they're reflective or something and they ruin pictures... Not sure of a better way to explain it

I saw a guy wearing one at Bsides but I was too much of an autist to ask him about it

what if I painted my car with that reflective paint ? would it be invisible to speed radars ?

Those things only work if flash is used, and even then with the super high sensitivity of sensors nowadays they could still pick out enough facial features if they saved the RAW picture.

>>42685912
They sell a transparent covering that can be put over a license plate for those cameras, either comes in spray form that is hard to notice for human eyes but causes a blur in cameras or you have the darker ones that are a transparent LCD panel that the driver can switch on to black out the plates when he knows he's in view of a camera.

And no your car would not be invisible to speed radars. Learn how aperture radar works if you want to beat them, it's an involved process.
>>
>>42686007
I always wondered why criminals in movies didn't have a mechanized license plat cover built into their trunk.

Like ok, you press a button on your dash and a little black plate covers your liscense for when your escaping cops so they don't know who you are. When you aren't on the run, you put it back up so cops don't stop you.

Actually it would work better if a stolen/fake plate came down and covered the real one.

>>42686037
Yeah the movie "The Transporter" depicted a rotating mechanism with several plates. The first movie was pretty good.

you best have deep wallets OP, the jacket in the picture is above 500 GBP.

also there was a supreme x north face colab which made the same style jacket with the reflective coat, but again they are a phenominal amount of money

Ridiculous, they use FLIR not thermal imaging, and can see the heat from your breath if it's cold outside. The only time you'll be subjected to a thermal camera might be at an airport if they're screening for signs of disease. And even then they're phasing out these systems since like every other security system at an airport it doesn't work and is only there to make the travellers feel safe.

Its called 'techwear', and it typically gets a thread on /fa/ every few hours.
The darling of techwear over on /fa/, btw, is the TAD ranger jacket. $450, goretex, wire mangement system, yadda yadda yadda...
>>
>>42688107
>wire management system
what?
>>
>>42688131
It's to make hanging yourself easier when you realise how ridiculous you look.
>>
>>42688131
See there are these things that connect to other things, called wires. Earphones to cell phone. Cell phone to backup batteries. Maybe a MP3 player to an amp, to a pair of headphones. The jacket has these folds of fabric, sewn in such a way to accommodate the connector between these 2 items... the "wire"... so it does not get jumbled up in your clothing.

Id be happy to explain any other big, confusing words that made your head hurt.

yeah, i mean just look how fucking ridiculous this guy looks... what an outragious and faggy looking design! Its like he thinks he's on a fashion runway!

... i know most people on /g/ are socially challenged... but has it gotten so bad that a fucking plain jacket is enough to get the mouth breathers on the offensive?
>>
>>42688265
>aviators
Have they come back in to fashion already?
>>
>>42688265
The problem is that you probably wear shit like
>>42686290 to your programming class in college. This is the same thing as cargo pants. Yes, they are practical—no, they're not fashionable.
>>
>>42688228
>backup batteries
>mp3 player
>amp
Sorry, I didn't realise people actually carried these things around with them
>>
>>42688323
Lots of shit is fashionable, just look at Apple.

Anyone that chooses fashion over practicality is either a fag or a woman.
>>
>>42688339
you didnt realize people used headphones and cell phones too? Are you one of those faggits who uses bluetooth headphones?
I honestly cant understand how someone could take issue with wire management in clothing. Have you never put a pair of IEMs in your head and thought "Gee, sure wish this dangling wire had a secure place to go so its not just hanging infront of my jacket, or inside my jacket where it gets caught on folds and tugs on my ears"...
Oh, of course not... because you dont have a reason to put a jacket on, because you never leave your climate controlled basement.
>>
>>42688393
I don't need a whole system to manage one wire (even though it confusingly branches into 2 later on) from my pocket to my head. Just wedge the earbuds in your ear, and they'll support the 0.1g of weight from the wire.
>>
>>42688265
so many zippers
>>
>>42688367
But it only becomes a faux-pas when you wear those clothes in situations where they have no use. Cargo pants are great if you're working on some electronics system and you have lots of little bits, parts and tools you need to have on hand.

Wearing cargo pants to a college class is pointless and an indicator of poor social awareness. Most of this applies to your jacket with built-in spaghetti dispenser as well.

You're right... everyone else who uses the system are idiots. And the wire management system us ususally just a tab on the inside of the zipper, and a sewn fold along the zipper to tunnel the cable through... Its not some fucking massive investment that took decades of R&D.

>>42688469
6. 2 chest pocket, 2 arm pocket, 1 wrist pocket. It was designed for PMC's so they are all arranged in important places for someone who is wearing a chestplate and vest.
I own the jacket, and i admit it is kinda weird looking since all the zippers have a dangling pull line(even more so if you lift your arms, since there are pit vents that also have zippers, and a vents on the back with 2 *MORE* zippers) but hey... you want a high end jacket thats made to be worn in really shitty conditions? You gotta take what they give(read:sell) ya.

I guess i could cut the zipper pulls off... but its a $500 jacket, so i think i'll just leave them.

Why is techwear so expensive? Pretty much every item on the /fa/ threads is $500+. I could understand that for high fashion clothing, but isn't techwear supposed to be practical too?
>>
>>42690105
no, techwear is high fasion, not practical, practical is sewing larger pockets on your cargo pants to fit your netbook or an open front forearm pocket for pokedex's
>>
>>42690168
That is the most impractical thing I've heard all day.
Cargo pants aren't even remotely practical, they're just a burden.

It's just reflective material. I've seen it mostly on athletic gear, mainly Nike. The stuff Nike uses is from 3M but I don't think its available to consumers as I could only find their tape.

I have one of the Nike jackets that's covered in the stuff. Not only do photos get messed up but you sort of glow under any light source.

Criminals are dumb.
That's why they're criminals.
If they were smart enough to think of something so incredibly obvious they would have been successful enough in life to not need to be criminals.

It seems, I've managed to not watch a ton of classic movies that do exactly this, heh.

you're probably american, i am too. eurobros have really gotten into tight pants the last decade or so. looks normal to them. isn't a /fa/ thing. they do prefer very tight and tapered pants though.

I made that mistake once. Skinny jeans on the bottom, saggy relaxed fit at the top. Both uncomfortable and unstylish. Never again.

but they cost 1000e. I was looking around that "acronym" and the strap the jackets have is brilliant. I think I'll fix one of those into my own jacket by myself

Since this is now a tech wear thread, I have a question to ask. Why are the majority of tech wear models Asian? I've went on /fa/ a few times out of curiosity, and seen tech wear threads where almost all of the models are Asian.
>>
>>42699104
because in future, we are all going to be asian. Either born to be or surgery-modified. You are asian or nothing

I don't see how that is possible unless they reflect non-visible light.
Any camera worth anything won't have issues with infared/UV light however.

No it won't make your car invisible to radar. Either stop speeding or get a decent radar detector and hope cops in your area don't use IO or laser.

Not in a jacket. The power demands to create a substantial EM pulse are pretty significant.
You need mains access at least, and a nice bulky EM generator
>>

IMO it looks ugly, reminds me of something a fifty year old cyclist would wear hiking or camping. I bought a brown canvas jacket. Its tough, offers a good shield from the elements, has a lot of pockets without the stupid placement, and looks a hell of a lot better than that science teacher looking garbage
