Checked Catalog, didn't see Dwight.
When is Seaweed gonna fix his damn 4chan X fork?
My Moto G doesn't work with my cars FM transmitter. The transmitter works with other devices, and the Moto G works with other aux devices (headphones). I'm thinking the aux plug on the transmitter is too short, but it really does fit in there snugly. Not sure what to do.
I'm wondering if there are any Android launchers that support diagonal icon layouts. I have a hexagonal icon pack and it doesn't look great unless it's diagonal to one another.
(Pic is not my layout; i just post updates of it in homescreen threads for shits and giggles)
>Reposting from autosage thread due to post limit
Anyway to prevent Windows from searching certain folders? It doesn't have to be TrueCrypt-level protection, just to prevent family looking for vacation photos from finding lewd photos.
Currently I just have them hidden with the folder options set to not show hidden, but that's like the first thing you turn off if your looking for anything. Also indexing is disabled.
Finally making the switch and putting Ubuntu onto a mini-notebook that I have. I chose it after doing some research and learning that it is the most user friendly.
Right now im downloading the Ubuntu 13.10 ISO 64-bit version and will mount/install on my 16gb thumb drive. I've already set booting order to USB priority on my laptop.
I chose the "Desktop" version. It will work on my laptop, right?
Also, the laptop has 2gb of ram. Its an Acer 722 Inspiron One. Only about 3 years old. Is 64bit the correct version?
I got bluetooth question(s):
1: Is it possible to link my phone to my computer as a call feature?
2: I'm trying to run my wii remote on my computer. I've seen people do it and I'm getting no where doing it. help?
3: What is the best bluetooth mouse app? I've looked thru a lot and I can't figure anything out. I've tried to set servers up and everything and nothing will connect
Anon, what are you running? w8? then get fl 9 you are fine. If you need any more help, I'll send you some screen shots. I use FL.
basically just Location at most. Not complete pin point but general location like
•Ben allen live in Tyler, TX
you wont know EXACT GPS but you know
a lot of great artists use it. It's not bad. Just don't over use Nexus and try to hard to sound like Cascada or Basshunter and leave it to them. You are good.
They both basically do the same thing but Albeton is a lot more work to play with and not everyone wants to take that much extra time when FL is not complicated it's just time consuming. It took me almost 2 years to get where I am. I didn't know for at least a month that I could hit the keyboard and make things.
>INB4 Dubstep is created this way
On TPB if you see a skull next to a person's name it means they have uploaded enough trustworthy content to know that you can go with it basically. what ever they upload will most likely work.
if that sounds like it's crackling, let me know and I'll post my stuff for FL. Some settings have to be played with. I got it all down.
I have a stock Galaxy S
The model number is SAMSUNG-SGH-I897
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Kernel version: 2.6.29 jetaek.lee@sep-11 #2
I don't know what any of this shit means, as I do not have any experience with android
How can I manually update this device to latest whatever?
My brother in law gave me his old iPod and i was wondering a few things that i cant seem to find answers for online. Its one of those small square small ones with the touchscreen, gen 6 or something.
>Can you configure songs on a playlist that are out of the normal song queue?
I have an album that i would only rarely actually want to listen to and don't want the songs to come up unless specifically selected.
>How do i stop the weird flow feature that eases songs seamlessly together when one is about to end?
Its just annoying, some songs have memorable beginning or ends that i want to hear on their own, this feature is retarded.
Just browse around, I'm partial to Corsair cases because they've always been well made and lasted me. Just about any quality case you buy from a respected manufacturer is going to have good cable management options.
How can I view an image's MD5/hash?
Foolz has this feature, but I'd like to be able to view image hashes without using foolz.
personal advice, take it to the police. Ask what your options are. If you can't because of shit on your pc you SHOULDN'T HAVE well see what the blackmailers want.
aside from that, you can always jump IP's by getting another internet provider
just let them flow like normal auto updates. its easier. Since you don't know anything anon, its better to play around and not take it seriously, you will only fuck your phone over. Depending on what OS it has at the moment depends on how stable it is. If it's Kitkat...I'm sorry. That OS is a piece of shit.
call Apple. No seriously.
yeah, follow the instructions. Like I said, W8, use FL9.Window's 7, try 11 and see if it works. Don't ask me why, I've been trying to get shit to work. Last time I tried FL11, It bugged, so I went to 10.0.9 (i think it was). So see what happened. You might get wonky audio but that can be fixed with playing with settings.
But for real though. Am I going to jail?
It was the reverse for me, I found FL to be really cluttered and unintuitive especially when making beats. Maybe its because I started on Ableton so thats how I "wired" myself when working with DAWs
Anyway, my question is should I bother with a Bluray drive for my build. The only real use for it would be watching my limited collection of bluray movies and maybe for backups
1:yeah I suppose, everyone tells me they all start at FL and goto Albeton later as like a learning tool. My computer has to worth like almost 2k or more with how many plugins, movies, music I've gotten over the years.
2:IDK jack about blue-rays. Everyone seems to love them and they are going down in price at least. That's a plus. If anything just get a ps3/4 and go from there.
they are most likely idiots that don't know jack shit. It's most likely the crack file. It's built very close to a trojan. It's not. I have plenty of friends who use FL and know it's not. Don't worry anon, they are retarded on the bay. A lot of them are.
I am the 2nd main uploader of the sims complete collection. I get people asking how to install it all the time. I leave a read me in it and explain EXACTLY how to install it. I even left in the comment section what the hell to do and they are still fuckwads.
to what part? I just answer what I feel I can answer anon. I try to help out if I'm able to. I don't troll on 4chan. I may joke around but theres a big difference
Did I do something wrong when I last installed Debian? I had to dual boot and when I went to install it, it said I needed ~200gb for the partition. I didn't really have a use for it when I first installed, but now I can be a lot more casual with computer use . Can you guys recommend a light distro that's very simple to install?
How do I set 4chan x to redirect me to the catalog when I click the board index? I've been trying to find the setting, with no avail.
they can't prove you are or not. They would have to have some serious proof. Back up your shit and then take the rest there. Just clean up your browser, cleanup your torrents.
Torrenting itself is not illegal. torrenting is for the need of big files.
I was talking to my dad about this today. I was thinking of ripping my real windows 7 starter disk to my dad. I was going to rip, turn it into an ISO, then make a torrent, then send it too him on facebook. NOW because it's from 1 person to another not a bunch of people, then it's not "stealing" like everyone wants to believe. It's more or less making a copy for PERSONAL USE and not resale or anything, The police cannot arrest you for torrenting itself. The content yes. but they have to have REAL proof of you torrenting illegal movies. For all they know you could of borrowed the movie, or gotten it from red box. ripped it yourself and kept a copy. Now are you selling it? no. Are you torrenting it yourself? most likely not. see the point? They can't say anything to you that they don't know. It would be like blaming someone for a murder who had an alibi.
I don't know if this helped or not but I tried.
I want to watch True Detective at my house, and download it at my college. I got an infringement letter on my school account already from GoT, so I was wondering if it is possible to download files from HBO GO, that I have an account on. My internet isn't good enough at home to stream it, and I don't want to sit at school and watch it either.
I just figured out how to install a fan for my PC.
First PC I've built. Not really a question, more of a statement of me being ridiculously happy I don't have to hear that fucking jet engine of a stock fan my card had anymore.
To you guys this is probably pre-school shit, but god damn I feel accomplished right now.
How the fuck do I hide / disable the Android status bar in 4.4 KitKat?
It's not rooted, by the way.
can someone please check these answers for me?
ive literally been googling for hours and havent found a question even remotely similiar, and since simplifcation is all "use whatever function works" i have no idea if im even doing them right.
please /g/. i literally emailed my entire fucking class 5 hours ago asking them to compare answers and no one emailed back,..
Fucking thanks a million for this.
seaweeds randomly stopped working and I couldn't quick reply, so I tried another one which had a neat feature with a drop down list for catalog, paged threads etc but its just too cumbersome
This one was the best, nice to find a link to it again.
I have no idea why seaweed stopped working on it, its the best 4chan x.
I have a couple questions,
First: I know I am limited to 4 primary partitions for HDD's but what about SSD's is there still this stupid limitation?
Second: can I hackintosh onto an ext4? (I decided I am going to have to try it out if I am going to continue to insult people who use it)
Also the one I was using as a substitute had the oneechan and 4chan x settings icons for the header on the top left instead of top right.
Such horrid design
yea it is, it's also the basis of electrical engineering, computer engineering, and mechanical engineering.
feel free to major in business though. that's if the math isn't too hard for you, of course.
Business is fucking boring though, I was thinking something more like
art
these questions really arent "hard" i just have no idea if im doing it right and its frustrating because i cant find any way to check it. i asked reddit, yahoo answers, and now /g/ and no one has responded
if you google for boolean simplifications there are some insanely complex questions which people seem to be doing fine, so i KNOW these are basic basic boolean questions but again i have no idea what im doing besides using laws that barely fit
How is my build? I didn't include a mobo because pcpartpicker didn't have the mobo I want on the list.
I plan on getting the GIGABYTE GA-970A-JD3P
Does anyone know the compatibility of that mobo and the rest of this build?
Just landed myself an interview with Amazon next week.
The interview will include coding on the spot.
What can I expect? How should I prep? Any resources for handling this?
>install Comodo firewall and Avira
>post log in desktop load takes noticeably longer than usual
>searching both gives results indicating that either could be the culprit
I'm going to uninstall one and see what happens, what could I replace Comodo/avira with shoudl they be the cause?
What do you guys think is the (realistic) percentage of people who buy a computer, being mac or pc, that don't know what they are buying into?
They both CAN do amazing things but people buy these machines and don't know the first thing about them. They never use them for anything but picture and a few songs and then the interwebz
I would say just stay cool, use what you know and continue studying what you need as in coding. If you think you need something go for it!
I maybe getting a job at a pretzel place at the mall, what helped out is I went to culinary in HS. So ya know, go for it anon! I hope you get the job man!
I would think so. Not sure how great OS runs on a thumb drive. Never tried. Did you try live CD first? If it is too heavy. Try Mint out. It's light and very somple. Same concept as ubuntu as well. software/updating etc
Mint is running fine on some shit 1 gig ram desktop i got for free the other week
Appreciate it man. All these years of hard work finally paying off.
Also nearly everyone who purchases a computer has no idea what they are doing. Like the overwhelming majority of people. Internet Exploerer controls roughly ~60% of the web browser market, just to put things in perspective
talking to another friend, I didn't know what the chrome book was as in OS based and he said it's gentoo. I about cracked up laughing.
why is /g/ not all over the chrome book and trying to raise it like a foster child?
I'm a little confused about tmux - I'll want to install on my SERVER as opposed to locally on my PC, right? I watched and read some guides about how to use it, but some of them kind of confused me. It makes sense that I only need to install it on my server - I don't see why I would need to install it locally since I have a gui and I can just open multiple terminal windows/tabs, but now I'm not 100% sure.
anyone know the name of that one site where people post their visual styles or their desktop setups? im trying to find it but i havent been on /g/ in months. sometimes people posted their phone homescreens but mostly it was their desktops
i know it seems like i'm just talking about /g/ but there was another site that served as a good inspiration basis for desktop setups. i just cant remember the name, the site employed a very minimalist style from what i remember
so i'm making my own website. i fucked up somehow, and apache autoloads index.html if you go to a subdirectory. because my website allows users to upload to it, this is a huge problem.
how do i fix this?
a very basic file server, just to replace the need for something like dropbox
i host it off my raspberry pi
i use h5ai for file uploads/download interface.
the folder is named main, and if someone uploads a file named index.html to main, instead of loading h5ai, apache loads the index.html
This might more go in the programming general or whatever, but I think it's pretty dumb to ask this, being a programming noob in general.
If I want to release something like a standalone command line utility for all platforms, for Linux or Mac OSX, how would I go about doing that?
In Windows, you can provide a .exe and if it's static, everyone can run it as a command line tool with no problems in terms of dependencies, end of story.
For Mac OSX, do I use a .dmg to distribute something like that? What about Linux? tar.bz? Are they really standalone?
Upgrade path for a faggot with a AM3 (non-plus) motherboard.
Currently my system is:
955BE @ 3.6GHz (c2 stepping, awful overclockers.)
8GB of DDR3-1333 corsair cheapo ram.
MSI Radeon R9 270 gaming.
My choices seem to be:
Dump a 1090t on my current motherboard.
8350 and an AM3+ motherboard.
Core i5 4670k and a 1150 motherboard.
Obviously, the 1090t is the cheapest option, but will give the smallest boost in performance compared to my existing Deneb.
The Intel CPU and motherboard will set me back a few quid and while not a fanboy, I do have a slight soft spot towards AMD due to having been buggered by intel & Netburst in the past.
Just wondering but generally what are differences between mobos - what differentiates one from another besides the socket? Like why is there big price gaps?
The only features I'd really need are like SATA and USB 3.0 along w/ all the normal stuff like audio ports etc that pretty much all modern z87's have.
firefox is too slow for me.. yada yada yada i have more than 8 gigs of ram yada yada.. it's just so slow.. my processes show 3 gigs of ram being used alone when it's running.. i keep my pc on all the time, only restart it when I have to and play games on it.. Should I be turning it off every night or what?
You should definitely get the i5 4670k. Intel progresses every two years, unlike AMD. AMD just adds more cores to their processors to compensate for the shitty architecture. Compare the i5 4670k to the 1090t on AnandTech Bench and be amazed.
Is there a way to clone two hard drives into one that has enough space to hold them? Or any other methods of doing full backups of 2 drives into one?
Im a poorfag, im planning on getting a 1TB drive for backups of my system and data drives.
Just swapped the mechanical hdd in my laptop for an SSD, currently installing arch.
It's got an i5(haswell series, can't recall the exact model this second) 1.6ghz - 2.6ghz
Is adding another 4gig ram going to amount to anymore speed inside arch?
It's pretty lightweight and I can't see myself hitting the 4gig anyway.
So keen for them lightning speeds.
So, my PC at work has only an HDMI port and a VGA port, and I'm not allowed to modify the hardware.
What's my best bet for connecting a 3rd monitor? Can I make the HDMI output different stuff to 2 monitors? Or would I have to go for USB / displaylink stuff?
displaylink adapter. I have a usb monitor that has one built in, it's really good. I can actually game in eyefinity with it, it can be anoying a little due to the 16ms delay between it and the internal on my laptop, but I would imagine 3 wouldn't be as bad. Dont expect to do anything with colors though.
So I'm using some code libraries and infront of every variable there is 'm_'
What does this mean?
I do own a dp monitor for studying at the library - it's mediocre at best, but that is probably because it has no own PSU and gets its power from USB too.
The thing is, my workplace only supplies 2 screens max per person, so I'll have to buy a 3rd screen and that adapter myself. Oh well.
I was wondering if someone could give me some ballparks on some PC parts my sister wants to move. I'd post her speccy but when she sent it to me she decided to do it by taking a picture of her screen with her phone and it's blurry, barely readable shit:
>Intel Celeron G540 2.5GHz
>4GB DDR3 RAM
>ASRock B75 Pro-3 M
£50+, seems like a decent board.
>ACER P205H 20 inch LCD monitor
Couldn't find anyone selling one. They still sell for 100 or so quid new so I was thinking somewhere in the region of 80 quid. She barely uses it, it's good as new.
>Samsung SSD 830, 119GB
And that's all it really has no. Graphics card other wise I'd buy it off her at a cut rate to mine with.
I have symptoms of a common cold (coughing, feeling weak, runny nose, occasional sneezing) and had it for around two days now. However, the mucus color is dark yellow/brown/beige.
Is it just a cold? Internet indicates it could be something more and that I might need antibiotics or something. I usually ride these things out.
>asking on a technology board
nope, it's the 14" portable lenovo one. TN panel, too. But, it's damn light and portable. Not sure what to feel about it, I'd say the good and bad aspects negate each other to an overall indifferent feeling.
You only need antibiotics if you have an infection. The easiest way to tell is if your throat is dry and swollen. Otherwise it's just a cold. I was sick a week ago, lasted 4 days.
I dont think running Ubuntu will be a problem. The processor is fairly capable. Win7 was running alright, and is considered bloatware considered to Linux.
I am restricted to USB since the laptop doesn't have a CD drive.
Which folder do I have to copy to /var/www to get Munin to work?
I see >pic related instead of a working website. PHP works, the other websites work also.
I have tried copying the /var/cache/munin & /etc/munin folders, but no luck.
Im trying to get Apache VirtualHosts to work. Zabbix & Wordpress work, exept Munin.
I just installed lxappearance on a fresh Arch install. (I use herbstluftwm)
I configure it tu use numix as GTK theme. It works for a lot of things, but the buttons and tabs still ugly as before. What do?
I have a problem whit bblean, the thing at the top of my browser is covering my tabs, any one know how to fix this?
If I wanted to learn computer science on my own, what would you recommend watching/reading? I'm already watching the MIT open courseware stuff, and I'm planning on reading SICP (obviously). What else would I need to learn/read/watch?
When I drag and drop image from exhentai they save as image.jpg
but when I right click and save as they save as their real page name
How can I make the drag and drop method have the proper real filename?
Do all Dell UltraSharps have HDMI in? Amazon doesn't mention it.
In the ports picture in the gallery I see a HDMI, but even that site doesn't actually mention it.
So I'm a long time usenet user (20 years or so). Recently the past years usenet has been hit with various dmca trolling so it has occasionally been a pain downloading stuff. Generally scene releases are easy to get with the req id. But I have serious problems downloading the 25GB+ bluray rips. All of them are passworded and have obfuscated name like 0844c579-8039-44f1-a63b-480361507efd.rar. How to I get the password?
I'm not especially fond of donating money to MPAA honeypot #45 indexer that will go out of business within the next 3 months.
What's best suitable for an average gamer, i7 4770K with 780ti or i5 4660K with 780? It's about $300 more to spend on the first alternative and I'm wondering if it could be worth it? BF4 in 50 FPS seems low?
Honestly it depends on how high you want your framerate. I think the 780 with the i5 will handle anything you throw at it for the next 5 years, but if you want that extra couple FPS go for the i7. I wouldn't get the 780 ti, I would just get the i7 and the 780. I use an AMD FX6300 with a GTX 760 and my framerate is where I want it to be.
a lot of those were on a specific MPAA honeypot indexer that is now no longer functioning, so I would ignore them at this point, since no one saved the passwords
my question for you: how do you find the req id list? is there a request site?
>a lot of those were on a specific MPAA honeypot indexer that is now no longer functioning, so I would ignore them at this point, since no one saved the passwords
Well there are tons of releases that are passworded every hour. There are plenty of 22-50GB releases which I suspect are bluray rips. They are also named with hashes which implies there is a database somewhere with correct release name and password.
>how do you find the req id list? is there a request site?
It's all on irc. I use:http://abmoovee.allfilled.com/reqs.php?fetch=posted&page=1
It works for the normal sd, 720p and 1080p re encodes. Just paste the req id into binsearch or use the links.
I just got my hands on some older servers and drives that I plan to transfer over my mail server among other services to. What utilities should I use to format everything? Can I trust the formatting of a Debian installer to wipe, partition, and arrange arrays or should I use a bios booted utility to do all that? I want to make sure I follow the most secure and full proof method for wiping
dban to wipe and gparted to format. when you mention "arrays", i assume you are aware that virtual volumes like raid or zpools have to be set up by the os, there is no other way.
Mint is better. Mageia includes a stupid as fuck "Mageia Control Center" that is slow to load and overly complicated. It's one of the worst distros out there because of all the custom bloatware it includes.
a regular PC (either laptop or desktop) that is running OS X
OK. Some servers have a dedicated raid card so I am not exactly sure how they will be implemented. I am used to Debian GNU/linux. Which *BSD should I give a try? Anything else?
Thanks for the advice on the utilities. I need to do some wiping.
First time owning server grade hardware
no. virtual volumes are managed by the os, one wouldn't be able to see the other.
nas are worthwhile builds. i would seriously consider whether or not you need any sort of raid, it's probably the single most misunderstood topic discussed on /g/. hint- raid is not a backup solution.
depends on what you are doing, freebsd has the best support overall. i'm really not the person to ask though, my only bsd experience is freenas.
it is, but the code is different enough that they each have their own packages. ubuntu and debian use separate repositories with their own package managers. i've never personally tried mint debian, but i've heard good things about it.
regular backups either to an external hdd or over the network to a nas. raid provides redundancy, so you're server won't just go down in the middle of the night, but if something fucks up your data like malware, accidental deletion, or even memory errors or corruption, it's just mirrored in the array or zpool. in it we have a 3-2-1 rule for mission critical backups- make 3 backups, on 2 different types of media, and store one offsite. you don't have to get that crazy with it at home though, i personally keep my nas backed up to a 3tb usb drive.
Just a quick note to anybody who is considering doing a hackintosh: Absolutely do not use iAtkos, iDeneb, Leohazard, or any of the "precooked" ISOs. They're basically packed with a ton of hacks made that do way more harm than good to make their installation "one size fits all". What you want to use is myHack, which is a utility for installing a raw copy of OS X. Also use Multibeast to get your hardware working post-installation.
Best HTPC linux distro? I intend to play my Chinese cartoons with dancing texts, play music and possibly remote control the music via a web interface (mpd + some web gui?) and browse the internet (200" screen makes for perfect couch browsing).
In addition to that I intend to run a virtual machine that will act as a gateway, dhcp server, firewall and possibly wireless ap. Pic related, it's the computer I intend to use for all this.
>In addition to that I intend to run a virtual machine that will act as a gateway, dhcp server, firewall and possibly wireless ap
dumb... on a number of levels. so many it would actually be difficult to squeeze them all into one post.
