Are ultrawide monitors 21:9 some niche gamer shit or actually the future for pcs?
They seem to have a heap of QC issues with backlight bleeding and they aren't cheap (assuming you dont want some poverty 34inch 1080p display)
Niche gamer shit. There is no future for PCs, every normie uses consoles and their phone.
>>61830218
I've been hearing that for decades
>>61830202
Ultrawide isn't for gaming, its for productivity. Having multiple windows open side by side.

Gud, a lot better than the original talos, but still out of my price range for what it does.
How much deposit do they want for pre-orders?

https://videocardz.com/71776/amd-is-trying-to-sell-radeon-rx-vega-64-at-a-higher-price
>From Europe to Asia, retailers are told that Vega 64 will be sold at higher price than first advertised. It appears that AMD is trying to sell both blower type cards for the same price, which is 599 USD.
AYYMD IS FINISHED & BANKRUPT
AYYMDPOORFAGS CONFIRMED ON SUICIDE WATCH
And they'll still sell out their stock.

can anyone fill me in on M2 SSDs?
i bought a cheap netbook for my son's speech & debate club, and i tried to upgrade the SSD. its a lenovo N22 and it does have an open M2 slot, but i installed a samsung 960 evo and it wouldnt detect in the bios or windows 10. the differen interfaces are confusing me as well the one in the laptop looks like the top one, but other options im looking at look like the bottom. the 960 evo was an NMVe drive, and it didnt detect, so should i go for an SATA m2?
>>61830006
I had a similar problem, but it was a fresh install of linux on the M2 SSD. In the end, I was unable to fix it without wiping the SSD through gParted and while plugged into the laptop, then reinstalling the operating system via usb after wipe.
This may or may not work for you, especially since you are closed source windows scum. also >>>/g/sqt
Beware of nvme vs sata compatibility.
>>61830006
Read on the differences in M2 B and M type connectors
You might also want to read about NVMe and SATA
If you can't find any info about the laptops NVMe support try taking out the current SSD and seeing its model and finding out what kind it is

Like today I can create a private chat for 250+ people on whatsapp or on kik but what did people do 10 years ago?
Did private chat exist then or is it something new?
IRC was of course available but it had issues with anonymity and usability by the common person.
I looked into MSN messenger but they didn't release private group chat until 2008.
Facebook chat was not created until 2008.
Skype existed then but I am not too sure if they had group chat back then? I think it was a feature that was added much later.
AIM had chat rooms but did they have private chat rooms?
Nice reddit spacing, fag.
MSN messenger supported group IM in like 2004. I used it myself then. I was 14.
That said, people didn't really do constant group chat. There was no need or want. No phones supported it, and laptops were expensive. Teens would use it on their desktop mostly, and even then that was more than likely a family computer, not a private one.
>>61829878
i space like that because i have terrible eye sight and it makes it easier for me to read my own stuff
>>61829890
that's interesting but didn't the group chat end if people closed MSN like it wasn't continuous after someone created the group chat?
did it have a save and push feature?
what are the advantages of this? If I am already running arch what would be bonus of running this. feels like a pain to rice again
Better security.
>I am already running arch
Oh, in that case don't bother, you probably don't do anything productive that requires you to be secure.
>running arch
>rice again
Do you do everything 4chan tells you?
>>61830223
>use defualt i3 for 6month decide to rice it to my liking with compy
Fuck you fag it my computer and I can do with it what I want, and if i want a custom i3 I will do it that the whole point of linux fag
What would an OS use/look like if it used the most cutting edge technology available to us (from a software angle)?
I mean most Linux distros use tech that is in some cases decades old. I know we are supposed to not go too far ahead because either that hardware hasn't caught up or the software is too unstable and untested (such as the case of SMP on BSD until recently, i.e. it was ass).
But there is tech like SSD which at the moment doesn't seem to have enough specific software ready to cater for the change. That's just one example, I know there are more.
What if we designed an OS using existing software that hasn't been mainlined yet to show what could be done if we pushed things to the limits of current tech? Ditching things like the Linux kernel would be fine if there was a worthy successor in place. I know some faggot is going to mention Plan9 here, that's fine but please mention how it would help us be at the cutting edge. There are many other design concepts that Plan9 hasn't really helped bring about so it's not the only solution but it's one of many possibilities.
It would look like Windows XP with he security of Windows 10.

You can thank the memeium miners for that.
nobody cares poorfag.
is AMD officially dead in the consumer GPU space?
https://videocardz.com/71776/amd-is-trying-to-sell-radeon-rx-vega-64-at-a-higher-price
>I normally do not post about graphics card prices before they are confirmed, but we have at least 4 independent sources claiming that there is little to no difference in pricing for black and limited editions of Vega 64
>Don’t look at the prices as if they were final, look at the trend where black blower cards are offered at the same price as limited edition.

Who turned AMD around?
It sure wasn't Rory Read, Dirk Meyer, or Hector Ruiz. It was Lisa Su, who is a brilliant engineer with a bachelor's, master's, and PhD from MIT, who is also an excellent leader that oversaw one of the greatest tech turn-arounds this decade.
So shut it with all this "women can't code" "women can't be good leaders" crap.
Don't degrade Dr Su and reduce her to a mere gender you fucking cretin.
Man or woman Dr Su is literally one of the smartest and most respectable people on the entire planet. The top .0001% of humanity. She isn't representative of women, she isn't representative of her ethnicity, she is representative of herself alone. You might as well not even be the same species. Go fuck yourself.
She chink so it make sense tho

Ever get tasked with something that isn't really in your job description?
I've been working as a C++ dev for 10 months now without any hiccups and now my boss moved me to a project that involves digging out a 2 year old Django project with no documentation and salvaging features from it to create something that's going directly to the client, with a 3 week deadline. This happened mostly for political reasons (internal conflicts between him and my team leader). Should I stand up to him and tell him to fuck off? I fucking hate python and I don't want to be looking for a job again.
Start looking for a job if you hate it or just suck it up.
Django is a piece of shit
Django is great. Made a couple projects with it.
