people say they can't afford a new flagship gpu every 5 years?

they can't afford $0.33/day

who are you /g/ ? negros in africa?

>>
Which website sells electronic parts and lets you pay it off daily for 5 years with no interest?
>>
For the last 2 years you'll be using a POS that barely competes with the new $100 50-series. Better to buy a mid-range GPU every 2-3 years, then you're at a consistently decent level of quality.
>>
>>61937466
Flagship GPUs are a waste of money and a meme.

>>61937660
Just put 2$ aside every week for 5 years. Then buy the GPU. Congrats!

DuckGoGo is pretty much like Chrome in the sense they're in the business of selling ALL your personal data
>>
>>61937163
No they don't block porn. Just disable safe search.

Got it. Starts up no problem. After about 5 minutes of regular use (web browsing) GPU fan kicks to maximum overdrive and I lose all GPU peripheral signal (HDMI, DVI).

Any thoughts on this? I'm going to request a refund but i'd rather be able to fix it myself. Thanks.

>Any thoughts on this?
You're an idiot because you bought a prebuilt
>>
>>61937133
Shit cooling. If you are unable to see the front case fans, therein lies your problem. If you don't have more than one front case fan, there is your problem. If you suffer from both of these, this is why you properly build your own shit especially when it only involves plugging in cables. They pick the shittiest components and cut corners. If it boots and doesn't meltdown, they ship it.
>>
>>61937133
Trump was right.

Get real, /g/. Nobody is interested in GNU/Linux because it "respects your freedoms" or even that it's "free". Unless you're a freetard with some contrive pseudo-socialist tech hippie ideaology or an insecure desire to fit in with /g/ because you can install Gentoo on an ancient laptop that your NEET ass can't afford to replace, the only way Linux is going to appeal to someone in its current state is either cyber security and privacy, or RICING. Windows has looked like absolute fucking garbage since Vista and Mac OSX is as customizable as its hardware. You can visually do anything you want with Linux and that's fantastic but you're never going to get the "year of the linux desktop" until a few requirements are met

>user friendly
if you have to touch a terminal even once in your life it is in no way user friendly

>mass produced, available in every tech store, advertised, and comes pre-installed on machines

if you can't even achieve this like Windows and Mac you have no hope

>GAMES
you can totally ignore those other two requirements if you had fucking GAMES

and no, nobody gives a shit about the garbage steam library that linux has, Gamers (a large majority of PC users that usually don't need an OS to be very User friendly) who aren't just fucking children (I know alot of dads and middle aged men who like to play simulators and have alot of expensive hardware that linux wouldn't dream of having drivers for) want the new shit they want the obscure shit they want the triple A titles, they want the big MMOs. Linux still prides itself on CS:GO and that's dated at this point. Shit talk gamers all you wan't. they're the ones you want to appeal to if you want to see Linux become a big thing. Gaben tried, it lasted for as long as everyone got their free Tux in TF2 when that was still even a thing.

At this rate, outside of being a development environment, a server host, or a hobby box, just accept the fact that Linux is just a toy OS.

I heard this was the place were all the leet hax0rs come so I was wondering if you could help me crack a 128-bit password-protected PDF. It contains personal information so I can't share it, but I'm looking for a good free program with GPU acceleration that could work well. If you think it isn't doable in about 12 hours I'll call it quits.
I have an i7 4770k CPU at 3.50 GHZ and an Nvidia 780Ti GPU.

You forgot to mention the gold standard for mining the RX 580 is already down to 23.838, so 35.861 on shitty beta drivers before any real optimization is pretty impressive.

tl;dr minerfags aren't going anywhere.

I want to use old laptop as a home server/media center. Don't have much experience with linux, only used lubuntu before. I've read that debian or centos would be most suited for a server so I'm thinking one of these. Biggest problem is, I have no idea how to run a server, and everywhere online it's just people recommending one or another shitty program for that, what would you guys recommend? Should I go easy mode and use something like freeNAS? My aim is mainly to be able to stream music/video to my phone and tv.
