I'm pretty familiar with ifconfig but I guess not well enough.. I'm trying it on a device named mon0 which is in iwconfig mode monitor of course..

Most sites have some sort of Facebook integration these days which is probably what those calls are, I imagine they probably do use data collected from it for other purposes though.

Also, if friends on facebook try to tag you in photos but you don't have an account, facebook keeps track of that and logs that they know you. You really can't escape it.
