Hey fellow /g/tards, I'm making a game and am adding multiplayer, I'm currently using a raspberry pi as my server but I now want to upgrade and get some better hardware but I know next to nothing about server hardware. My budget is around 200 or 300 if anyone would care to help or point me in the right direction?

Are you going to actually *need* or *use* the extra power?
Honestly, I'd just stick the pi for the time being or maybe get a 2nd hand laptop as the "server"
If you get a larger userbase you can always go up if you need the power
Buy a desktop from shopgoodwill.com

You're not gonna get anything done with 200 units of any currency. You need at least $1,000 USD to make a true server.
Ok /g/ we don't have an article in the wiki nor a pastebin, comparing the main features (format compatibility, internet video services available, Hi10 playback, power consumption)
Ideally, we should be able to list model-by-model functionality (Ex. PS3 Slim, Apple TV 2nd Gen, Roku Fifth Generation), so that we can empower our buying decision. Also, listing single-board computer and avaliable HTPC software for GNU+Linux, Windows and even MacOS
The closest thing we have for this is the wikipedia article, but it's clearly incomplete

Forayed a bit into C++, but rust seems like an interesting alternative.
It's too early to see if it'll take off.
I love Arch GNU+Linux
>I love a distro because a few pieces of software not necessarily related to said distro had a debloat update
is he our guy?

He was more proof there is a very thin line between genius and insanity
considering the fact that he died a virgin; yes, he indeed is. was.
I live in Canada and want to buy a 1060 but prices are really high and most stores are out of stock because of shitty bit miners. I've been considering buying one used but i don't know how legit that is. What are the odds my GPU shits itself? What do i look at when i buy it in person? What else should i be concerned about?
Ooh bby i got dubs

See if it works in person on their PC.
and if it does agree on a price and buy it
Need to upgrade my WiFi USB adapter. Currently using the Alfa AWUS036NHA.
What do you reccomend /g/?
>>61832761
any adapter manufactured by qualcomm. but what's wrong with your existing adapter?
>>61832791
I just updated my internet package and this device does not receive 5Ghz signals
The wifi adapter is one floor below the router or about 30 feet away

I prefer these

Only if it gets popular. New users might start using this. Old ones - doubt that, only because google is "convenient".

>Will YaCy Hurt Google Search?
No.
How can you boost views on things like youtube videos or sound cloud links… I know people use click farms but i am assuming there is some piece of software available that does the same thing?

Will open source software become old fashioned in the future?
>>61830727
Definitely not, the open source meme is getting more and more popular.
Note: open sores doesn't necessary implies free (libre) software.
>>61830727
Yes, because free software is the only future.
That image is so wrong. The whole point of the GPL is to make sure no one takes away the right to share software and source code.
Why is /g/ so constantly paranoid of botnets? When did /g/ become so fucking paranoid about botnets and how did the meme come to be?

Software that runs in the background keylogging/cryptomining
The machines are digging.

boring
I know about your dirty secret. The one that involves dirt. You know, digging. You dig?
Found a Pineapple WiFi at work being thrown out. Soldered a new button on it to get it working again.
So, now what do I do with it?
Install Gentoo on it.

Seems kind of a waste to ruin it from the get go.
Accomplish the exact same thing from any laptop, of any android 4.4+ that has OTG support.
I'm developing a saas app and currently considering pros and cons going multitenant vs single tenant.
I very much like the single tenant approach for its KISS and straightforward, performance will be better and scaling is trivial, just spin up another host with the app+db.
However I see most people prefer multitenant approaches but I don't understand what for? Having only 1 app running is a bit easier on the devops side and everybody runs the latest version all the time, but if it gets there it is much harder to scale and the application logic is more complex.
Any tips and pitfalls to look out for?
