KEK. At least with the Mac you get an OS masterpiece that doesn't crash on you - ever + incredible screen and touchpad.

Microkernel should be a requirement, not an option.

My mom has an HP Spectre x360 and holy shit it's fucking awful. $2,000, absolutely shit-tier build quality, weird uneven display backlight, 2-hour battery life MAX, horrible trackpad, confusing side buttons, shitty keyboard, muffled speakers...just worthless.
I wouldn't have paid $200 let alone $2,000 for it. The quality of that thing was fucking Chromebook-tier, holy fuck.

NEVER again. HP is a scam company.

Daily reminder that OOP is an exceedingly useful paradigm for designing large, scalable systems.

So my cousin is deciding between the Razer Blade Stealth and the ASUS UX330UA.

On amazon, the Razer is going for 900 and the ASUS for 700.

As far as specs are concerned, both will perform very similarly (gaming aside) and the most glaring difference is that the ASUS more storage (256GB vs 128GB) but the Razer has a Thunderbolt 3 port.

I ask you, /g/ents: is Thunderbolt 3 really worth less storage and 200 more dollars?
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Thunderbolt is only worth anything if you actually need it for some purpose. With the razer you can use thunderbolt to connect an external gpu. So if your cousin's actually planning to do that you could consider the razer, otherwise you're just paying a big premium for a led keyboard or whatever compared to the asus.
>>
If money is a concern, It's too early to buy thunderbolt. Wait until it's a make or break feature, then buy the cheaper option. For now, it's still novelty status.
>>
thunderbolt if egpu.
otherwise asus

why the fuck does nobody want me overriding the web developer's """vision""" of a site with all 8-12px fonts? is there a fucking browser out there that let's me set a minimum font size and actually enforces it? I don't want to have to use plugins manually enable an accessibility feature on a site by site basis, I want every site to be legible as soon as I get there.

I'm not expecting sympathy for this but when I was wiping the thermal paste off my laptop GPU (Which is an "N13P-GLR-A1" nVidia GT 635M) I managed to break off one of, what I assume to be, one of those miniscule SMD capacitors. I wasn't using excessive force but you know what factory thermal compound is like... Fucking cement.

Anyways I bridged the missing component with solder, thankfully the pads were intact but the system doesn't boot. I was hoping you guys could help find me whatever component it was that I managed to chip off in the vague hope that I can source a new one and replace it.

Image is the exact GPU I did this too and I broke off the bottom left cap, roughly in the middle of the chip.

I took a look at the data sheet, and that SMD is not needed for a proper functionality. Go ahead anon.
>>
>>61838442
>I bridged the missing component with solder
why THE FUCK would you do that? these may be just decoupling caps and you just shorted the main power rail or worse, it may have been a cap separating a DC offset from some signal going elsewhere to the mainboard.
Anyway, most of these caps will be either 100nF or 10nF as it is the case with most digital stuff.
You may have fucked it up for ever but replace the cap and pray it works.
>>
>>61838579
Yes I was worried but I was sort of just upset and didn't think that soldering it would do any harm. Though looking back I wish I tried it without because if it doesn't work I'll never know

Using a bastardized rag-tag MSI GTX 460 Hawk "Twin Frozr II" gpu with a i5 3330... Nothing overclocked.

GPU fan broke and was replaced, with phyobia hegrease thermal compound replacement too

Because your government is retarded and refuses to invest in modern day infrastructure in the ways they should.

$50-100B and you'd have 75-80% FTTH by 2025.

The US isn't perfect, be we at least have a few decent choices if you look hard enough.
