Would /g/ users prefer to have a setup like Linux PC + Gaming console, or just Gaming PC?
FreeBSD PC + bicycle.
rmbr + PS4 is the only sane option
"Gaming PC" is an antiquated concept.
Get a work horse desktop specced to do whatever you need (which for most peyote isn't much), and you can get an xbone and a PS4 for less than a gaymen pc
On my desk I have an unopened 7700K. I haven't purchased any components for it yet. Should I go AMD, or stick to Intel? I haven't read much into Ryzen, and I've heard the 7700K is hot as fuck.
>>62466706
AMD uses a lot of power and reaches a very high temperature. There's a reason why 90% of modern PCs use Intel. Stick with what you have.

The 1070 has seemed to drop in price finally to a decent asking price on Amazon. The question is whats the best one to get?

I had an evga FTW version that had higher 3dmark scores than some 1080s. It was an amazing card. I traded it in for a 1080ti for maxing out 1440p though

I've tried it. It has completely convinced me that communism doesn't work. I know a little bit of Korean since I have friends in South Korea that I visit a few times a year, so navigating the OS wasn't too hard. The interface and included applications are just shitty though and it tries to phone home to the Norks constantly.

When will they learn and buy business laptops?
Americans are still inherently racist, they may say they're tolerant but subconsciously they can't help but think NIGGER when they see black. This transcends even into black colored, nonhuman products, such as ThinkPads. Those who like ThinkPads are tolerant and accepting people, that's why is /g/ents are the best.

I'm pretty happy with my Dell XPS 9550 and it's not business class. I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't get such a great deal on it though. Not all consumer grade laptops are garbage. I will say that those HP folio elitebooks are pretty nice.
>>62466310
Well thats Dell, I was talking about Pavilion lineup which is the worst fucking thing ever. I mean HP business laptops, consumer HPs are just horrible

is there any reason to write programs in lisp
Yes, thanks for asking.
Well it's great for theoretical programming -- actually learning how to tell the computer to your bidding. Hence it is not a tale when people say learning Lisp will make you better program, even if you don't end up doing actual work with Lisp.
There's this talk about "grokking Lisp", which I haven't felt yet. I'm working my way slowly through SICP 'cause I'm catching up on the math as I read, so I'll probably take about a year to do it.
Anyway, people say that Lisp allows you to "become one with the computer", that "programmer and program become one", that "the computer becomes an extension of your mind". There are talks about lisp being the programming language in most harmony with Nature, and that it would be the language God would have used to program the Universe should he have used a programming language. I haven't felt this yet, though.
However most probably you won't find much support except for stuff like Clojure, which is not very liked because it is Java with extra parentheses.
I think Scheme and Common Lisp are your best bets. You'll probably find programming more fun in it because when shit fails it's your own fault because you are the one who implemented the mechanism that failed. You create your own Lisp every time.
I don't see it being used much besides in Emacs and CAD software. I have seen some videos of people programming OpenGL applications with Scheme, though.
Well, I think it's worth it. I didn't feel like Adam on Snakes while programming but I surely find it beautiful to write Lisp software every now and then.

Is coffeelake benchmarks accurate?
I might pull the trigger in ryzen if its real
Unfortunately yes. Somehow a 6-core coffinlake is barely better than a 4-core cuckylake
My advice: get an R3 1200, OC as much as possible and wait for Zen 2. It's rumoured to feature 5 GHz clocks out of the box and boosted IPC over current zen.

turbo wasn't working, which from what I've read is meant to be 4.3ghz all core turbo, so 3.7ghz was what the cinebench runs were at. desu I don't think 600mhz will make much of a difference at all to the grand scheme of things considering that the 8700k will probably be a 370$~ chip placed just under what the X299 6-core chip is, while offering even less features but of course will require a z-series chipset so motherboards will most likely cost 160-200~ on launch as well.
I personally think the R5 1600 is the sweet spot currently in terms of price/performance, and if you really compare the two, Intels offerings aren't worth 50% more.
>>62466075
Even with turbo you're looking at most 1340 instead of 1230 cinebrunch points.
I will be able to get a new phone soon.
