Can I use semen instead of thermal paste?
>>61986314
Just need to close the airgap, so yeah why not.
>>61986314
Semen is the new mineral oil cooled PC.
>>61986314
I don't think semen has good thermal capabilities, I wouldn't recommend it. Plus it'd smell really bad.
Is the Purism Librem a meme or what? Why do I have to spend so much fucking $$$ to get a supposedly secure computer?
Because someone went out of his way to order non-mass produced or irregular components.

>tab width:8
>Tab width: 3
Our professor suggested we all set the tab width to 3 in Sublime during our introductory classes, when we were learning Python. I go to a shit college so half the class hadn't programmed before, and the prudish girls who take everything seriously despite being dunces were scribbling down the professor's every word. The professor explained that using 3 spaces is "more efficient" and they hurriedly wrote this down. It was kinda pathetic.
hi /g/ I'm going to build a my first pc and I've been reading pic related is great but it doesnt work with emulators. is this true? if so, what cpu should I get?
you should get the intel i3 3100 for emulators. my dad works at Intel and he says it's the best
>>61986170
Only game that was having issues with emulation on Ryzen was BotW on CEmu and recently performance improvements have made it just as playable as Intel.
They work great with emulators.

Just installed Linux Mint. It's a good choice for new users from what I've seen so far.
OK so. Manjaro+openRC has been my recent fave go to for Linux because the architect installer is easy enough for me as a Linux noob to figure out, but I get to use AUR and make it relatively lean with minimal XFCE. But they've dropped it to move to Artix Linux now and merged with the systemD free Arch whatever it was called. And now from their page the install page is missing and only migration is left up. I wanted to do a base install but it's just a live ISO... I can boot that obviously but I have no idea where to go from there because it's a totally new distro and the regular Arch Linux installer guides all use systemd references. Where do I go from here cause I'd like to move to Artix and figure it out more but I really don't know what to search honestly. -_- tia

GNOME or KDE?
Is it worth it to overclock my 3570k and buy a new cooler or should I invest in a new cpu?
>>61986112
im pretty sure a new motherboard and cpu costs way more than a cooler. not to mention having to buy overpriced ddr4 ram.
it depends on what you want to use it for

I'm working on a swap meet style site to preserve old tech & keep stuff out of landfills
Focus would be on having a place where you could find a person to donate to instead of landfilling, or swap with someone else, or sell for money (but just purely selling wouldn't be the encouraged focus)
Something like that but with also location options and maybe a way to show your 'collection' of old tech and which items are up for donation / swapping / sale.
It could end up with a lot of good information and guide, a community of people to help preserve stuff, possibly even get some custom firmware hacks for things to keep them going into the future.
Any /g/entlemen able to dev stuff like this? I'd rather pay one of us than a pajeet from hotscripts
i-i made a dumb little imageboard but it's just for some ideas and stuff until i get the actual site going
>www.salvaged.tech
no intentions of stealing discussion from /g/ or the old tech generals, just making a place to list & swap old tech with the whole interwebs
would you guys check out the eswap script and see what sort of options i might have to develop something like it from scratch?
>>61986018
Programming aint my deal but if the site is up and running im willing to mod or dedicate one of my systems as a serveri dont need to get paid ill do it out of charity because it sounds like a great idea maybe create a discord to discuss courses of action
>>61986018
The biggest market for that would be older people who just want to get rid of old systems but don't want the trouble of selling it on craigslist. A lot would be willing to donate but plenty would refuse to not accept some form of payment for their legacy system for some reason
I would say offer an appraisal service somehow that would tell people how much their system is worth and offer them the money for it right then and there
>>61987283
well, not just systems but any old or outdated tech, old logitech speakers, mice missing a wireless receiver, etc. old ram, old motherboards, stuff like that.
i like the feeling i get when something goes to someone who wants to try to do something with it, rather then take it straight to the trash. even if it ends up there eventually, at least we tried.
>>61986954
cool! i don't know about discord, it's easy to set up, but also the most serious and autistic /g/entlemen will refuse to use it, and those are the ones who probably have back rooms filled with old tech that they'd be willing to swap and give away
i believe my best option will be to host an IRC
So I drank the Kool-Aid and installed Linux. Ubuntu, specifically.
I got a virus almost immediately--the screen went black with a thin, broken yellow line flashing at the very left hand side of the screen. I hadn't even opened up a web browser yet when it happened.
Not to mention it was a total botnet with a shortcut to Amazon on the tool bar.
I can't even believe how cucked Linuxfags are. They call Windows 10 a botnet, but Linux is a botnet too and at least Windows doesn't get viruses and die within 2 minutes of installation.
Oh, and I tried to dual boot with Windows and Ubuntu wiped all my Windows data, so I lost 50GB of films and images. I'm incredulous, frankly. Was Linux a troll all along? Well, you fucking got me good, faggots.
install gentoo you cuck
>>61986005
haha wow i really hate linux now bro :-D
sage btw
>>61986019
That's the distribution that has no graphics, isn't it? Not a chance. And you're the cuck, Linuxcuck.
What's a reliable/stable distro for college? I'm going in like a week for CS.

You are not in the wrong, bit you aren't right either.
People are free to spend their money, or their parents money, in whatever makes them happy. It doesn't affect you at all. He could have gotten a pc similar to yours and nothing would have changed in this story.
