Has anyone here built a laptop or upgraded their laptop's hardware before?

Is it worth trying? I have an old toshiba satellite laptop I bought back in 2010. It's good to browse the web, watch videos, do homework, etc. I can even play some less demanding games with 30fps

I'm thinking of trying to replace its CPU and GPU to modern versions

Can this even be done?

Not that I know of.

What I have done a few times is swap in an SSD and add more RAM. Granted I don't game on laptops so I don't judge on that basis, but pretty much any dual-core processor backed with an SSD and 4+GB ram is solid for modern casual use applications.

Underage b& has no idea how laptops work.

GPU won't be possible for about 95% of laptops.

Most laptops these days have a soldered in GPU and CPU, but you might be able to upgrade the CPU depending on the system.

CPU upgrades would be limited to the socket type and what is recognizable in the BIOS.

Is it better to game on a console for vidya, but be full freetard on your actual computers or dual boot windows for games?

You should grow up and stop playing games >>>/v/

Found this stuff in my garage while my old man was trying to throw stuff out. Is it worth anything? Or atleast give me a name for what it is in case someone is looking for it? I have more pics. I have no lead or any expertise on these things. Figured /g/ had guys that were into retro tech? Better yet if there's a use for this stuff let me know

I still use old stereo stuff like that. I find it has better sound quality than a lot of new stuff. Just get some good speakers.

I built my last computer eight years ago and aside from replacing my HDD with an SSD (only because the original was failing), I have not upgraded it at all. It works more than fine for everything Ido including games.

People on this board are consumerist pigs, so I would like to dedicate a thread to those who NEVER UPGRADE. This is your safe haven from Vega whiners, this is your shield from amd vs Intel.
