What is /g/'s thoughts on Purism?
With the whole revolt against google thing going on it's been hard to find an alternative to Android that isn't IOS. The timing of this was too good to be honest.

pls no bully, he covers stuff I care about more than LTT and I don't know any other tech podcasts
I've been ignoring Purism because I heard their laptops aren't actually secure or free at all. Not sure how much I'd trust a phone from them, or even if I'd be able to afford it in this lifetime.
I'm supporting postmarketos first, and I'll look into this if this comes to light.

*specifications are subject to change
You're basically just going to get bait, and switched while having to wait for a low end smartphone.
>>62140980
Vapoware until it actually drops. Fuck off marketing shill.

yes, MB42 makes less of a thud when you drop it on concrete.
As I understand it, no.
Don't buy them, get cheap office speakers and save up for monitors. Currently own them and regret it.

what
I'm starting to realize (inb4 slowpoke macro) that manufacturer updates to the next Android os are just ploys to make you want to upgrade to the next gen device asap
my Motorola Droid 2 worked just fine on froyo but became a glitched out mess on gingerbread
my htc One M9, aside from the infamous thermal issues with the snapdragon 810, worked fantastic on lollipop but slowed down significantly on marshmallow
my Moto Z Force (current phone) went through everything like it was nothing on marshmallow and now, with nougat, I can't use maps, listen to Apple music and all of a sudden receive a call without it nearly committing sudoku
so now I'm gonna get a note 8 and not even have the thought of "oreo" in the back of my head l
>>62140825
>listening to Apple music
Don't make bait so obvious it's not fun
>>62140825
>my htc One M9, aside from the infamous thermal issues with the snapdragon 810, worked fantastic on lollipop but slowed down significantly on marshmallow
I run 6.0 on my M9 and it's fine. I have another one with 7.0 installed and it works fine.
>>62140825
>instead of rolling back the OS I will buy a new device
So how do I go about wiping every trace of my video drivers off my PC?
My PC crashes all the time because of it and I've already tried DDU. It works until it crashes again somehow and I have to do the same process all over again.
Install Gentoo
Uninstall the drivers as recommended by the manufacturer. Now go away.
>>62140730
>backup important files
>wipe hdd
>reinstall wangblow$
>install graphics drivers from manufacturer's site
>windows 10 formatted the hdd instead in usb

this seems like it's your own fault.

Too sexy

It did, but it has it's very specific niche. It's not a mouse replacement you dip.

I would kill for this. I make some chump change doing color reworks on sets of professional photos my sister in law takes and sells. Maybe an Arduino and some potentiometers?
Why the fuck is this happening?

Can some of you fags help.. I'm trying to buy this cam to set it up as an "interior dashcam" for my car.
However I can't find a single fucking video of it in the night. Can someone show me footage of this thing in darkness? Supposedly it has IR and can view up to 15 feet... But I want to see it in action.
>>62140076
Sure, newfriend. Allow me to Google this for you.
>>62140437
I Google.. No shit came up
Have you thought about...humor me for a minute here...buying an actual dashcam? I know, I'm nuts.
How to make a batch file that will send all of my email contacts an email?
Don't do that.
>batch file
Manually sending the email to every address would be as productive, and less painful.

I want to make an Android app. Nothing fancy just a kind of fake text messager.
Problem is, I'm kind of a newbie when it comes to programming and I don't know where to start learning Java. Any good sources?
I am not a Pajeet, nor do I intend to become one. So how do I go about doing this?
Just continue being an idea guy. There's a shortage right now.
>>62139975
Well this idea of mine isn't to make money or anything. It's more of a personal thing

Microsoft makes shitty products like Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer/Edge, Bing, Cortana, Windows Phone, and others that have superior alternatives.
Out of those products, only the first two are dominant. Windows and Microsoft Office are inferior to Linux and Libreoffice, but are dominant because of marketing reasons.
If it wasn't for those, Microsoft would be irrelevant in tech*.
The next time you're thinking "Microsoft supports this practice should it must be good" keep this post in mind.
I'm aware Microsoft also makes Xboxes,
but I consider that a different industry.
