No. It's also a chinese botnet.

No. Install Devuan + dwm

I have it as a dual boot on a chromebook I have xubuntu installed on. I mainly only use it to be able to play Hearthstone on it and it works perfectly. I wouldn't be too pushed using it as my main OS on there.

So, as we know, many people on /g come here and talk about how they need their computers for their games. They then say they care about telemetry and how Windows 10 is horrible. They say that the only thing to do is to stay on Windows 7.

My question pertains specifically to gaymers with their various software. How can you, in 2017, stand against telemetry while remaining on Windows 7 if you are doing any sort of gaymes? That just feels contrarian in my opinion.

What games do you play? Anything recent? If so, how do you avoid telemetry? You do know Visual Studio C++ 2015 has telemetry that you can't remove right?

If you try to install Java, read exactly what it says in the second paragraph. That is right, more telemetry, Please, someone, explain how to get rid of the telemetry from this so Minecraft (which is published by Microsoft and so probably has telemetry) can be played while you talk on Skype (do I need to repeat myself?).

Adobe Flash is somehow the good guy in all of this and though having a million security issues doesn't seem like anything has leaked about it having telemetry. But with Adobe adding telemetry to the latest Acrobat updates (is this just if you use Chrome or does it watch you on everything) can you really say you are safe?

Nvidia drivers also add telemetry. I am not talking about Geforce Experience, I am talking about the actual drivers for Nvidia having telemetry

Even if you had a hardcore version of Linux that protected you at the OS level, wouldn't the telemetry still exist due to all this software having telemetry you can't opt out of?

Needless to say, there are two types of people I see in the world. Those that play gaymes and should be on Windows 10, and those that don't who can protect their privacy. Unless you are an old school gamer on DOS, it doesn't sound like you can be safe anymore. So gaymers, why aren't you on Windows 10?

It was more directed at those that didn't dual boot with Windows, but even if you do dual-boot, I just don't see the point. Isn't the whole point of avoiding telemetry to make sure they don't know when and when you aren't on your computer? To see how long you play, the games you play, stuff like that? Doesn't that make booting into w10, at all, just as bad as normal?

>Free Spotify for desktop lets you listen any song you want, in the order you want, rewind them, whatevs, and you can block ads if you aren't computer illiterate
>Free mobile Spotify cucks you by not letting you listen the song you want, in the order you want, rewind them, can only skip 6 tracks for 6 hours and have to thank them for letting listen 30 minutes of uninterrupted music after watching an annoying video

Apply that for any mobile app that cuts functionality compared to their desktop version. Are mobile operative systems going to be always this cucked (youtube for example, and many more)? Why shouldn't I install loonix to some phablet and enjoy content without getting jewed?

The bottom line is you're still using Windows even if in a VM and all Microsoft cares about is if you use their products. Refusing to let Windows work well in a VM under Linux is a bad business decision as it alienates potential users.

My Dad is saying the scorch marks on the outside of the heating element indicate it is nearly burned through on the inside. That's not accurate?

Heating elements are basically a giant resistor. Test the resistance of the thing with a multi-meter. If it reads infinity or 0ohm the thing is fucked.

So I need help with a new mouse, but I don't want the shitty templates, I want some real thoughts on them. The first mouse I used that wasn't a dollar store ball mouse was the MX518 by total accident. I used it for probably 6 or 7 years before it died. I bought another, but the 2nd or 3rd rev at the time didn't feel quite the same. I've read some stuff about how the updated mice had angle snapping and some other tracking updates that were detrimental for FPS but I don't know if that was it. That mouse died after a few years, and I ended up with a Razer Deathadder. I didn't like it at first, but I tried 3 other mice that I ended up sending back and stuck with it. It finally died a few weeks ago, and I'm currently using a shitty CMStorm package mouse that has horrible tracking, delays out the ass, and just doesn't work for me. I was thinking about getting another Deathadder, but the price has jumped to $50 (Why is it more expensive than when it first came out?) and I've read some stuff about how the new Deathadders have the same "upgrade" problems if not worse than the newer MX518s.

I want a mouse that works well for twitch shooting and aiming. I don't use my whole arm and a huge mousepad, and I will never do so. I've been using a normal mousepad and wrist movements for almost 20 years and I have no intention of switching over, so I don't want the "objectively best mouse for FPS pro players", I want something that responds really well to flicking and reaction shooting for FPS games.

Do any kind anons have some suggestions?

Xornet, or incase you cant find the original, the new rev should be just as good. still have the original, dumped my G500s in its favor

I fell for the meme of a non-Logitech mouse "because it had a better sensor" and I almost got cancer. None of those kids that meme about that crap could tell a high-end sensor from another high-end on a blind test. Never again, Logitech forever.

And wireless as well. I'm willing to bet everything that they would find no difference on a blind test either. Let alone they can double as a remote from the bed.

Get fucked with your shitty memes about "superior sensors" when you can't see shit being different other than your memeing in your brain.

i assume you're a canadian brethren?
i have this exact laptop, bought it earlier this year; i did a lot of shopping around and for the price there's really not a whole lot to compare it to, in this price point you're gonna be stuck with a 960m; i got the model with an i5 because who really needs an i7 if you're only playing games, and a matte 1080p screen, and i honestly have no complaints whatsoever

go for it, buddy

(where are you located? montreal myself)

also, for a simple benchmark, i run overwatch on medium settings at native 1080p with 100% resolution scaling at close to 60fps
