Yeah. It looks like someone installed a virus called Windows on you machine.

Nah, botnet is comfy.
Yeah, your Ethernet is not connected.
I just bought a house out in the country. Are there any good internet options in rural areas or are they all as shit as they appear?
There's a really shitty DSL provider for $30 that gives blazing fast speeds of 6mb/s down and has a reputation for going out all the time and terrible customer service, satellite for ten times the price and only twice the speed plus the latency that comes with satellite.
The only option that seems like it has the potential to be good is a WISP, where they mount a dish to my house that would point at a tower 5 miles away. It's expensive too but supposedly has speeds in the 15mb/s range (which is still garbage compared to what I'm used to) but it's also expensive. No idea how reliable it is because I've never used it.
Any rural anons have any advice on what, if any of these work halfway decently?
They're all shit.
>>58665165
Just moved out of a rural area and the best advice I can give is to find something somewhat local.
My ISP was one that only operated in the area I lived. While speed was absolute trash the network was consistent and issues were taken care of quickly. If you can deal with downloading things at night (or whenever you sleep) it isn't the worst.
However if you have a family then bandwidth is so small it hurts.

What type of connection did you have?

Macfags of /g/
After using Android as my mobile OS of choice since the very first Android phone, I decided to try something new and bought an iPhone SE when I switched carriers last week. I'm enjoying it so much that I'm considering buying a Mac.
The thing is, I don't know if I'm going to like it as much as I do the iPhone, so I'm looking for a minimum investment. What's the cheapest Intel MacBook that will still run reasonably well today? Like basic web browsing, YouTube, watching movies, etc. I'm not really into gaming so that's not a huge concern, and the screen doesn't have to be huge, I can live with 11-13".
Just trying to spend as little as possible while entering the Apple ecosystem until I'm sure I'm going to like it. If I do, then I'll probably buy the newest mbp that isn't just a tiny incremental upgrade from the last.
If you buy second hand, the sky's the limit. I wouldn't buy anything from before 2012 though.
I'm using an early 2011 MacBook with SSD and i7 (probably upgraded at some point). It's working quite well despite being busted here and there (the previous owner didn't take good care of it). With Mini-DP and a modern display it feels snappy and modern.
>>58665120
anything from 2010 forward, just make sure you get at least 4GB of RAM and be prepared to install an SSD. a white 2010 macbook runs about $200-$250 these days

Do you think it would be possible to make a social network like facebook that is anonymous or doesn't tie your real life information into it?
You mean like 4chan?

>>58665060
I was honestly amazed when I found that Facebook makes it mandatory for you to use your real name. How can something so massive force its users to link their online habits with their real name. It's insane.
what gpu is /g/ pissed off about today
Nothing. I'm convinced it's just one group of shitposters that changes sides more often than they change their underwear.
>>58665045
all of them
I'll start by saying that i'm not an expert about hackers, DDOS or stuff like that, i'm just a random dude, also i'm not a native speaker so I apologize if there are any grammar mistakes here. I used to spent some time on the /b/ board different months ago (yeah i know, i'm an ugly person), but i stopped immediately after something really weird happened: i posted a comment with the bait meme in a thread (like i used to do), a few minutes later another user answered me in the comments section and he said:<<This meme is older than you *******, it's late, go to sleep>>. Know I don't care if some jerk managed to get my name on a site in which i am supposed to be anonymous, but i've always considered /b/ just as a place where you're totally free to post whatever the fuck you want because nobody knows who you are. Do guys know how did he manage to know my name? Am I in danger? Can someone steal my private data just because I posted a comment in a thread? Do you think I should stop using 4chan or just stop using the comments section?
Fuck you, nigger.
>>58665073
Well that was helpful
>>58664998
was it just your first name?
some /pol/tards use common first names from other countries as an "insult"
>Am I in danger?
nah
>Do you think I should stop using 4chan
just do yourself a favour and stop browsing /b/
How do I go about using 2 monitors on my laptop that doesn't have an hdmi slot? Cheap usb/vga adapters have terrible ratings and the ones with good ratings are too expensive for me. Any ideas?
What model is your laptop?

/g/ in a nutshell
Who's the retard that keeps shilling against more than one monitor?
>my wallet
Probably some autist poorfag who doesn't want to use mismatched monitors.
I have two and sort of want to get rid of one of them, it's just pretty pointless when it takes a millisecond to change workspace. The second one only enables procrastination.

updating is annoying so i've been ignoring the 7.1.1 update for weeks now
No update available for my phone

I'm actually curious, what does 7.1.1introduce from older versions? I just upgraded from 6.1 directly to this version, never tried older ones.
