What is /g/'s opinion on coding boot camps? Worthless? Revolutionary?
>>58668554
Effort to devaluate the programming career by churning out codemonkeys who dont know shit, and who have way lower expectation for salaries.
>>58668554
what do these coding boot camps teach? im studying at an university and i would never learn the knowledge of math/data structures/algorithms i do there in my spare time.
guess they are probably teaching basic programming courses like python and webdev stuff?
>>58668610
most of them focus on web development it seems

>s8
>There will be two Galaxy S8 sizes, as rumored before. The smaller model will have a 5.8-inch screen, the larger a 6.2-inch display, both of the dual-curved Super AMOLED variety, and both with an unusual 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Thus Samsung too is ditching the traditional 16:9 aspect ratio, but it's made the S8's panel even more elongated than LG for the G6 (which has 18:9 ratio). The S8's display will be pressure sensitive (think 3D Touch), but strangely only in its lower part.
>The small S8 will have a 3,000 mAh battery, the bigger model getting a 3,500 mAh cell. That's not a lot, considering the huge screens here, so it helps that no matter where you buy an S8 from, it will sport a chipset built on a 10nm process - be that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 or Samsung's next Exynos. Both phones should come with an 11% increase in performance compared to the S7, 23% faster graphics, but at the same time 20% more energy efficiency. So hopefully that will translate into good battery life, even with the aforementioned capacities.
>5.8 inch 3000mah
>6.2 inch 3500mah
wat, what's up with those ridiculous sizes and the small batteries? No way that this is real.

currently have the htc m8, is upgrading to the s8 worth it? the small bezels rumored got me by the balls
I want to write C++ that compiles for any system. No windows specific libraries.
The question is: where can I find a guide or a list of things that can be used for any system and are not windows specific?
Have a compiler that compiles for every system, or make a VM for every system like Java
what kind of program do you want to make? what libraries do you need?
>>58668230
if you stick to standard C++ it will compile with any C++ compiler without the need for platform specific libraries. that is the whole point of the standard.
if you want to do GUI stuff then you are gonna have a bad time.
I have to type a report on someone who's dead and is either famous or infamous. I thought about Dennis Ritchie and Ian Murdock, being the tech board does any body have any suggestions on which dead tech people to write about?

Are you running LineageOS on your smartphone, /g/? I just installed it on my Nexus 4. Word of advice, don't bother with the "experimental" migration build. Go directly with the nightly. Don't forget to get from extras the root access thingy, and (optionally) gapps pico.

Works really nice (: I updated from CM13, btw. It kept all my applications, settings, files, etc.. From what I can tell it's only missing the option to set the anymations to 0.7. It has the stock defaults 1; 0.5; 0; 2; etc.
Warranty.
Are there themes? That's an important part to me, lol.
I'm running a ROM for my Moto X Style, since Motorola hasn't updated this phone to 7.1.1 yet.

I don't use them, but I think they aren't Settings application can't find them through search.
Why are HDDs still relevant?
Why is the happy merchan allowed to keep technology stuck in a shitloop/5% improvement year?
They're more reliable for long term storage and cheaper than SSDs still. There.

I would guess the number of people using it is tiny. 32bit x86 has no place anymore. Low power is ARM, cheap is ARM, legacy OS are run in virtual machines.
Just upgrade sempai
