It depends on what you need your laptop for.

Good thread, sir!
Sure I'll prove you wrong in just a moment

Why is /g/ so obsessed with pajeets?
>>58687333
because they're shit.
>>58687333
Because most of /g/ are code monkeys that fear pajeets taking their jobs.
>>58687333
sounds like something a pajeet would ask
get lost, street shitter
What happened to all those sites that let anyone stream their desktop to an audience? I remember them being everywhere some years ago. They were shilled on some boards here, too.
How's that different from Youtube livestreaming, Twitch, and the hundred other variants? They probably just can't compete with the big websites and die off.
>>58687365
I'm pretty sure those big ones don't allow private rooms and try to take down copyrighted shit.

Got any projects going, or into this stuff at all?
I've done some simple fixes on old guitars and amps. Getting deeper now, studying up on a '30s era cabinet radio in decent shape, might try to get it running.
>Sad.
>>58687373
Eh, it was one of the first things dude bought after coming off the boat and getting established. Gramps remembers it from when he was a kid and ain't gonna be around much longer, seems like a fun challenge. Gonna need a truck to get it to my place though.
>>58687373
>>58687416
I am the thread's only replier. What is wrong with it? What is the model of the radio? What else can you tell me about it? Do you have pictures?
Why do unix-hosted, "hardcore" nerd websites always have piss-awful download speeds?
200 kilobytes per second was good in 2004
I fucking hate nerds. Get with the times, increase your god damn bandwidth.
>complaining about free stuff
>>58687286
Lack of shekels
Just torrent your shit and save them some bandwidth

Google runs on Linux.
Fuck even Azure runs on Linux.
Dumbshit. YOU are the reason why winfags are looked down upon.
Why dont you use windows 10 /g/? You know its the closest thing we have to a functional and elegent cyberpunk aesthetic. There have been rumors in the past that microsoft had backdoors in the os but win 10 proudly embraces it. You dont want to join the wired?
>>58687206
Why, why even waste your time posting this?
>>58687246
Because I want to move this 90's looking website into the future.
I do not care for a cyberpunk aesthetic. I care about having a functioning machine for programming, and I hate Visual Studio with a burning passion.
Just found my old Droid 2. What should I do with it? It doesn't have an SD card anymore, and I don't have a spare.

Give it to your sister to play her shitty games. Also maybe give her a hug and tell her how much you love her.

Without going into quantum dynamics does anyone actually know how a quantum computer works?
Justin Trudeau does.
According to Trudeau, a quantum computer uses q-bits. Which are like bits but can have infinitely many states. Somehow this means they can do some tasks exponentially faster than traditional computers. Because reasons.

setting your screen resolution is marked as an "advanced" display setting on w10
As it should be. If your OS can't detect the display's native resolution, it's an absolute farce.
>>58686831
It's this shit right here that drove me to Linux years ago. It's rather insulting and infantile while ensuring a future of clueless and credulous end users who are fine with their pc owning them rather than having basic computer literacy in current year.
>>58686831
Windows is designed for computer illiterates. This is why /g/ likes it so much.

Isn't making or running desktop apps based on web languages a completely autistic idea? I mean, 99.99% of humans nowadays have internet access 24/7. Additionally you can't even secure your code easily if you have to run it on their machine but if you run it on your server you can more easily or faster sometimes.
>>58686692

No, it's a plebian idea...

Why make apps on the web when you can make desktop applications that don't have handicapped performance?

1st, I can offload my rending elsewhere
Hey /g/uys, just your friendly neighbourhood shitpostman here. I have a dilema. Perhaps you can help me out a bit?
I need a portable device for school. Something that I can code on comfortably, I am taking CS, as well as take notes.
I am torn between 3 options: Microsoft Surface Pro 4, Dell XPS 13, and the Razer Blade Stealth. I have a budget of about $1000, plus I am eligable for student discouts on these devices.
As it is required in my cource for program testing purposes, I will need either dual boot into Xubuntu or run a VM for it.
These specs saticfy me: i5, 128GB(not sure I'll ever need more for school), 8GB. Also I am avoiding 4K, to save battery life.
Here are the cons and pros I see so far of each device.
SP4
Good:
+Light. This is a major selling point for me.
+Actually usable touchscreen support for notes.
+Being able to type and draw, I can complete get rid of any paper weight in my bag.
Bad:
-Windows fucking 10. Don't want to start fking updating on me during a lab activity.
-No linux support.
Not sure about:
*Battery life. Have heard mixed things, anywhere from 3.5 hrs - 7hrs
*Possiblity to downgrade to 8.1?
*How well can it run a VM, and how draining is it on battery? (considering I will use the VM for 1.5hrs at a time)
*How powerful is it compared to the other devices? Does all that touchscreen stuff make it lag behind?
XPS13
Good:
+No bezel screen.
+I'm pretty sure it will dual boot Linux no prob.
Bad:
-Keyboard. Too small for my long bony fingers.
-Feels a bit cheap. The cheaply made plastic keyboard ruins the whole experince of the device.
-Dell has shit quality control, and I really don't want to deal with their shit.
-Coil whine seems to be a common issue.
Not sure about:
*Is coil whine really that bad? Will it be annoying me during lectures?
Blade Stealth
Good:
+Keyboard. Typing is a lot easier for me than on XPS13. Don't care much for the rgb, but I guess general backlighitng is a plus.
+Feels well made. It a minor thing, but hey, if it feels nice while being used, thats a plus.
+Pretty sure it can run RuneScape
Bad:
-Bezel. Don't really bother me though.
-Logo. Will have to get dbrand skin to cover that shit up.
Not sure about:
*Razor quality control
*Have heard some(not many) reports of coil whine. If so how loud is it?
*Linux drivers. Is dual booting a viable option, or would a VM be needed?
*Will the thunderbolt charger work with Linux? I have no idea how thunderbolt works.
DID I MISS ANYTHING?! If so, call me a retard and tell me what it was.
