Hey /g/
I'm curious if anyone knows of any 7.2 ch receivers that accept 480/720p/1080p over component.
I can't seem to find any. The Pioneer VSX-80 accepts up to 1080i, which is fine, but it's pretty expensive. I checked some Onkyo and they seem to only accept 480i for some dumbass reason.

>1080p
>over component
for what purpose
Component to HDMI would work wouldn't it?

Anyone else using an older xeon workstation for a daily rig?
Currently on an athlon 750k/7870le
I can pick up a dell precision t1650 with:
e3-1270 v2
16gb ddr3
Quadro 2000
For $190
Im planning on swapping the psu for a standard 600w+ silver one and either a 1060 or 470
Initially I was waiting for ryzen, but lateat news says theyre only releasing their 8core model soon, while the 4c wont be out til mid march.
Anyone have an old workstation and if so what do you think about it for modern usage (yea including games)
>>58694200
>games
I was waiting for that
No
Your CPU doesn't even match a 2600K in terms of IPC and per-core performance, it's weak in anything but fully multithreaded tasks that can use all cores.
And your GPU is pretty fucking weak if you're trying to get games through it, it gets smashed by a 750ti in both games and basic OpenGL compute, it's basically the worst of the old quadro series, which weren't very good in the first place. You might be able to accelerate some graphic design programs with it, but you'd have better luck playing games on a 1050ti or something
Is that ram even ECC?
>>58694200
Single socket Xeons are not much different than the normal i7s you find in consumer PCs. It's pretty much the same shit without an IGP.
>>58694271
seems like you read the article but didn't understand it.
Various sites that ran comparisons show the e3-1270 v2 is actually tied with an i7-3770k
Im planning on upgrading the gpu and tossing the quadro,
So really whats wrong with a 3770k 16gb ram fulling running rig for $190?
Would it be a wise decision to replace the 6x 14w cfls in my house with 9w leds?
>>58694155
No.

yes
I've just put a 15w Auroglow daylight LED in my kitchen. Best lightbulb I have ever used.

I applied a patch provided in the russian forums I mentioned last thread and now I get the following error:
case '116' is not a valid value for switch of enum 'PrefsCollectionUI::stringpref' in line 471 of c:\presto\adjunct\desktop_util\prefs\prefscollectiondesktopui.cpp.
>>58694208
The patch in question is available at http://forum.timsky.ru/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=21&sid=55ede3267fcd8d519b2a05d4c3e1f6bd.

It takes that and removing plugin compatibility to kill the browser. Firefox will die this year.
>>58694006
What's the alternative? I've used Firefox since I discovered there were browser others than IE.
>>58694015
I could tell you about a couple good alternatives, but then nu/g/ would complain about muh botnets.
Would it also be libre?
>>58693999
libre and open source are not the same thing. You can have proprietary software under a license with restrictions like you cannot sell it for money and still be open source.
>>58694026
he clearly knows that, hence the question.
What are you working on, /g/?

Fuck this shit is time consuming.
If you can, don't do it yourself and just hire someone, because it takes way too much time that you could spend better otherwise.
