Hey /g/
friend wanted to throw away a laptop figured I'd salvage it:
>128GB SSD
>4GB RAM
>i5 1.5Ghz
>slick and portable as heck
>Ubuntu 14.04 installed
>no working USB ports
>like literally 0 working USB ports
any suggestions on what I do with it?
Plex server.

>>58715661
interesting... but I live in a small apartment and I just watch movies/TV in my monitor
>>58715700
they don't work because the serial pins got bent out of place (on both USB ports)... like somone decided to shove a usb at a wrong angle and pushed the pins back....I tried to use tweezers to align them back... snapped 1 pin from 1 of the port, the other 1 still refuses to work.
I will have to disassemble and replace the ports myself...but that's too much work for something so old... it's a Vaio SVP13213CYB

Fast enough
laying in bed on my chiclet laptop, a good 60.
If you aren't at least at 100wpm you don't belong here.
>/g/ says x distro is bad/shit
>x distro actually turns out good
What's her name?
>>58715432
Solus!
>>58715432
Gentoo and all derivatives
literally any os, it's almost like /g/ is not a person/hivemind
Why has technology gone to shit, /g/?
>>58715407
It hasn't. Its more amazing than ever.
Normies are however now too dumb to even barely grasp how amazing most shit is, still flawed as it may be.
Thats the source of your problem.
>people have made clocks as wide as a couple of strands of hair
>some inbred retard hipster is putting a old, decrepit piece of crap on a plaque on the wall
because of people like you
>>58715449
>old, decrepit
I don't think you understand what those words mean. That plaque is also pretty awesome.
What's the best RAM Disk software for Windows?
I want something that automatically creates it on boot and backs up files to the HDD prior to shutdown.
ImDisk

>>58715400
why have i never heard of this: ramdisk?
>>58715400
"SoftPerfect RAM Disk" if you're a winbaby and want something easy.
How do you pronounce ASCII, /g/?
>ass-key
>ask-two
>...?
ass-key
Are you too retard to use a search engine?
"Ass-kee" is the correct pronunciation.
ass-key
I'm trying to make a program that loops through all of the characters in a string and replace each one with a corresponding alteration of the character. How should I start going about this without creating a rule for each separate letter?
ie. cin << "Big Dogs" ---> cout >> "_B__I__G_ _D__O__G__S_"
/dpt/
/sqt/
>>58715284
iterate though your list of chars, uppercasing and adding a _ before/after it.
>>58715304
is this a shitpost?
/g/entlemen, is there any non-bait way to obtain spotify premium for free?

Need for my girlfriend

>Need for my girlfriend
well then have your girlfriend ask the question, not you.
>>58715039
Free as in freedom? You are free to pay for it.
What is the best free screen sharing software that has no delay?
>>58714646
If you're gonna be transmitting the data anywhere, there's going to be at least some delay. No getting around it. Even within the same network, it can be enough to notice the mouse cursor being slightly behind your movements.
>>58714725
Im ok with a second or two delay. I want to stream you don't know jack on steam and play with my cousin who is like 3 time zones away.
>>58714646

>ANOTHER day wasted shitposting on 4chan instead of learning programming
>>58714641
iktf...
what can we do to fix it? lets go ask reddit
>>58714674
we can gain some self-control I guess?
You guys need some "learn programming" copy/pasta?
>Apple CEO Tim Cook assured workers that >Apple does not support Trump's immigration >policy and the company is prepared to lend them >aid.
>"Apple would not exist without immigration, let >alone thrive and innovate the way we do," Cook >said.
That's the whole problem, Tim - you should have hired more American workers...
>wanting American workers
kek, the reason every tech company is against the anti-immigration bills is because there just aren't enough good or even decent American programmers.
>>58714636
From my experience, there isn't many good non-american programmers either.
Palemoon finally supports Watch with MPV! (and a shitton of other addons!)
BASED
PMKIT
https://github.com/JustOff/pm27-sdk-addons/blob/master/PMkit.md
Literally change 2 lines in install.rdf and it worked. The only issue I had was that the button was fuckhuge (in the toolbar), however, after removing it, the context menu works perfectly. I now have literally no reason to use Firefox.
>Firefox will drop XUL extensions
>Based Pale Moon can now pretty much run all of them anyway
Why aren't you using Pale Moon, /g/?
(In order to get pmkit, you'll need to be on the unstable channel of pale moon)
>>58714547
>Why aren't you using Pale moon
Because I like timely security updates
>>58714584
You only need to worry about security updates if your primary security is defective, ie: you.
>>58714584
The security updates are timely. They're fixed as soon as they're reported, and all Mozilla security issues are backported.
Moonchild cares about security.
>Implying you're even likely to be attacked by an exploit anyway if you're running an adblocker that blocks known malicious hosts / you have decent security in the first place
Fun fact: Chromium, Firefox, and Opera all have / had security issues.
What did he mean by this.
GREEN IS MY PEPPER
Kill yourself, you fucking retard.
>firefox on windows 10
>works flawlessly
>firefox on linux
>takes forever to open
>black screen blinking while transitioning between windows
>hangs if you open too many tabs
Why would anyone use this garbage piece of trash again?

>Windows 10
>works flawlessly
>Linux
>slow and buggy as shit
You're surprised?

What are you working on, /g/?
