Hey /g/!

What do you recommend for erasing one's digital footprint? I know it's impossible to be completely anonymous on the internet, but it would make me more comfortable if they know less about me.

I heard that TOR is not a viable option anymore, since goverment agencies are sniffing there. What should I use instead? Is SSH tunneling a good idea on a lesser known server, or is it dangerous because they can monitor my traffic?

What services / programs should I use that are secure and protect my anonymity to a certain extent?

Currently I'm using these:
> duckduckgo
> protonmail
> vivaldi browser
> aes256 encryption on every personal file I upload to online storage.

Are these okay?

You should teach yourself cybersecurity, or just start with basic networking and web development. You will quickly realize that anonymity is a meme.

>it would make me more comfortable
That is all you'll ever achieve. But they will know more about you: things they already know + the fact that you wanna hide them :^)

Hello guys I was wondering, spek is really limited, do you know some other spectros (for sound)?
Free and/or open-source and efficient.

What's the best way to create a dual-boot solution alongside Windows on a laptop?

Thinking of installing 1 or 2 OSes as an alternative to W10 as my laptop runs quite slowly. I was thinking of using Linux as a daily driver, and switch to W10 for programs that I still need.

I don't know Linux either, so I wanted to install a distro to learn Linux as well - what would you guys recommend? I was thinking of going Ubuntu or Debian

I just got my hands on 35x 320gb HDDs, 3x 500gb HDDs and 2x 1TB HDDs, what do?

I just wanna fuck around with those. Is it possible to make a kind of portable Raid-0 that you plug into Usb3/Thunderbolt?
9 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Also, let's say I want to connect 20 or in so in a Raid-1 environment, to put on my network as storage space, what kind of hardware are we talking about?
>>
>>58723173
>portable Raid-0 that you plug into Usb3/Thunderbolt?

yep, but you will spend hundreds on the enclosure/RAID controller
>>
>>58723173
Sure. You can go find a cheapo old PC, throw in a nice PSU, buy a few cheap $12 RAID cards, slam it all in, install FreeNAS, and fuck around with it.

If you like what you get, you can invest in a nicer case, a better RAID card, and make yourself a nice NAS box.

Or look around on CL for anyone selling a 8 bay NAS. Those tend to be very expensive new without HDs, but I'm sure you can find one under $200

Test those HDs first tho

but then again, hooking up all those 320GBs to make a decent size raid is gonna be a waste of additional resources.

You can always sell them on eBay on the very cheap for extra selling points.

Can you flash linux or android on this thicc plastic?

Which is more profitable, IC design or embedded systems?
10 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
i would say IC design could be more profitable because less people are able to to do it - but on the other hand there are way less companies doing their own IC design so it may be difficult to gain employment in the city you want

Software development intern at a large-ish company.

>apply online by filling in form
>they arrange a 'video interview' which was actually just me recording myself answering questions
>ask me to build a programmer to test my skills, file manipulation, took me a day or so
>go for in-person 'assessment day'
>4 of us there for 2 internships
>group exercise to see how we work as part of a team
>1 hour interview, grilled me on the code I submitted, this was pretty tough
>gave a 10min presentation on anything computing-related (I did distributed computing)
>called me a week later saying I got the job

Overall pretty long process but it was worth it. They pretty much started giving me real, non-bullshit work straight away so I actually learnt a ton.
