Can we have an oldfag thread?
>2002
>just got my first computer
>get a problem
>go to techtv.com forums
>get some help and also get spanked by snotty nerds for posting the same question on both The Screensaves and Call for Help forums
>fast forward 15 years
>the OP's body has grown to morbid sizes but the mind is still of a child
>still ask for tech support, this time on /g/
>still get spanked by snotty nerds who tell you to read the sticky
prove me wrong OP

The old TechTV forums were more cancerous than reddit.
Couldn't edit post, make one spelling mistake, and everyone just roasts you for it instead of actually helping.

Hi, OP
I was one of those snotty nerds. I'm glad you remain triggered after all of this time, you kinda deserved it.
TechTV forums were a great thing. A truly beautiful stomping grounds not seen since.
Why is pic related even so common among most bigger distros?
Is it really only poetterings fault?
Also Linux thread, feel free to tell us about your favorite aspects on linux and the cons.
I'll start:
Pros:
> Its free and open source so i dont have to steal it
> The freedom to do whatever you want in your system
> literally no restrictions about custonisation
> perfect programming station and flawless integration with (spac)emacs
> no poo in the loo spies
> runs on almost every hardware
Cons:
> Some customisations are quite a dirty hack
> systemD
> printers are a fuck up
if you mind the missing games you belong to /v/, kiddo

Most printers made within the last 10 years should support Linux and CUPS is flawless.

>Facebook's Oculus lost a case against game maker ZeniMax, leaving the tech company on the hook for $500 million.
>A jury ordered Facebook to pay $500 million in damages to ZeniMax due to theft of intellectual property on Wednesday.
>Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg told CNBC's Julia Boorstin that she was "disappointed in certain elements of the decision." Sandberg added she was "considering our options to appeal," and the verdict was "not material to our financials."
>ZeniMax sued Oculus for allegedly stealing its intellectual property. The company claimed Oculus founder Palmer Luckey "commercially exploited" Zenimax computer code and trade secrets in order to develop its products. It also said Oculus' VR device Oculus Rift was "primitive" until John Carmack, Oculus chief technology officer and founder of a company owned by ZeniMax, improved on the device using his knowledge from his previous work as a ZeniMax employee.

Are you insinuating that the ribbon isn't the single greatest feature Windows has contributed to the computing world?

are resolutions determined by the inside of the monitor or the display themselves
i mean what's holding what back

>are resolutions determined by the inside of the monitor or the display themselves

>i mean what's holding what back
What are you even asking?
A monitor has a fixed array of physical pixels (e.g. 1920x1080=2073600 px) that gives the native resolution. The resolutions a monitor will support is supplied by the monitor to graphics controller in something called the EDID. The monitors firmware itself handles the transform of the input signal to the physical array.
So if I send a 1280x720 signal to a 1920x1080 monitor, the monitor will internally scale & interpolate the data to fit the physical array.

/GEN/ Game Engine Thread
Which is your favorite engine and why?
>>58754711
Game Maker is best for all the stupid little shit Unreal is best for when you actually want to learn stoofs
and of course this belongs in >>>>>/v/
Frostbite and id Tech 6
>>58754711
Unreal's blueprints are pretty awesome, performance is good, but it's got less documentation and things change a lot. Unity is easy and has a huge community, but it's lighting system is utter shite, performance is also shite in general.
Name a better looking case than a Fractal R5/Define Nano S.
