Can I get a decent spit of insight as to what yaboot command to give to get the install to actually proceed? It's an nVidia and I am just trying to get Mint 16x on the old hag... cheers You Aces !
>>58846058
wut? what do you see?
I have tried the video=ofonly, the nosplash, the nouveau.nomodeset, the noveau.modeset=o, the noveau.modeset=1, and the video=1920x1200@60-32
...all to the result of a scotched up screen with green, lilac, white and dead end written all over it

I did due diligence research, but all the cutsie threads are either in C3PO or not applicable. It's a drag, 'cause this old beast is perfect to be my freezin' cold kitchen space heater / media friend while making meals or doing apartment chores. It's too good to deep six or put Leopard back on.

Hello /g/
I'm graduating soon (~2 semesters) with a degree in Computer Engineering. I want to start monitizing my projects, embedded systems and side code projects. I through shit on my github frequently and get some pull requests, but I'd like to make some money off of my work if at all possible
So how can I do this? What is the workflow from generating an idea to getting it licensed and available to download to consumers?
pls help lads
Wow there you already gonna be on you last semester and your telling us you don't know how to do this on your own
>>58845906
take it OFF github and put it ON shopify.net

Does a usb drive weigh more when it is full than when it is empty? How much approximately does 1 gigabyte weigh?
Same weight
>>58845716
Then why don't scientists make airplanes and such out of the same material that they make usb drives out of, they could literally be almost weightless
>tfw you're proposing to make a plane out of flashdrives
>not running glorious Debian Mate on a Thinkpad T60
What is your the battery life on that?
>>58845867
2 hours give or take

Why do magnetic drives from 10 years ago outlast current drives?
>>58845584
Modern drives are deliberately engineered to fail prematurely.
Higher rotational velocodensity, while better at slowing bit-rot, also tends to prematurely kill the platter motor.
>>58845584
Everything is a constantly changing topology.
When consumers realize how to get the most for the least it's abused to sell them the least for the most, you pretty have to update what you know EVERY TIME you seek to purchase.
Not just go with "what I did last time"
When you delete a file, where does it go?
to hell
On most filesystems, nowhere. You simply tell the filesystem to ``forget'' about the file and to stop holding its place.
Lucky for you vsauce already made a video for that.

Which IDE or Text Editor does /g/ use?
Over the past couple years I've used a fair number of meme editors (Brackets, Atom, Sublime) as well as IntelliJ, but I'm starting to warm up to Vim and Emacs. Geany isn't bad either if you have Ubuntu
>>58845506
Vim, my man
i'm pretty happy with notepad++
emacs in evil-mode, best of both worlds
Where were you when GPD announced the best modern UMPC in the market?
>>58845481
Finally one without the gaymur bullshit. Now they just need to release a slider model with a thumb trackpoint and it'll be perfect
>>58845540
Hopefully we'll get more and more of these beauties in the upcoming years
>>58845481
OOH!
Looks nice.
I'll be keeping an eye out for that one!
that's it /g/, that's it. I've been watching a lot of Alex jones lately and I'm ready to break free from the globalist mind control agenda and forge my own path
From a technological perspective, what kind of steps can I take to separate myself from "the man"
Obviously the main priority at the moment is to stop using any American web services like Google
And any closed source operating systems like Windows/Mac and iOS.
What else? I've switched to QQ as an email host. It's Chinese, but at least it's not NSA

Thank you /g/. You are the best board.
>>58845299
I've had nothing good out of /g/
I was using Linux way before coming to /g/, in my main machine
I knew how to do programming beforehand
I knew how to use Vim already.
Although /g/ introduced me to SMPlayer, which is pretty nice.

I will not fall for the linux meme
meme is such a fucking stupid word
god this board is an embarrassment
The memers over at altright.com were complaining on their latest podcast about not being able to use social media because they keep getting banned. Richard Spencer wants an open platform that isn't controlled by a leftist corporation. That perfectly describes gnu-social. I don't have a throw away email or Twitter account right now, so it would be great if you passed the message on.
