Redpill me on refurbished corporate computers /g/
I've read your wiki and you said it's OK when it comes to Chinkpads and Latitudes, but is it OK when it comes to desktops?
My laptop is on it's last legs and I need cheap shitposting station. Found great deal - USFF optiplex with 22` LCD (pic related). Figured out I might install HDD and wifi card from my laptop to save even more. But I don't know how long is going to last. Should I go for it?
Redpill isnt a verb

Most important thing you need to know: They'll always have shitty proprietary power supplies, which means you'll never be putting a video card in it because there's no upgrading that thing.
How do I block these ads? I already have adaway and I don't need to risk drive-by downloads.

You fucking retard.
i currently have a broken GTX 1080 in my hands and i wonder what i should do with it, i got it from my friend today for $50 and i thought it would be a good deal(i knew it was broken).
all i wanna know is if its worth it trying to fix it or if i should sell it as defective on ebay or something.
the problem with the card is that my computer wont boot with it installed (my friend's computer wouldn't either). however, the computer boots if the card isnt recievig power.
i already have a 1080 and that operates just fine so its not a limitation on the powersupply side and all bios and drivers are up to date.
TL;DR I have a broken graphics card, gib advice
thank you.

Install Gentoo on it.

Post /g/ approved chairs.
I have pic related and i'm looking to change it out. I've had it for a few years and it's kind of cringey.
steelcase, herman miller, other high end office chair makers
You cringe at a chair? Are you, dare I say it, /autistic/
>>58870267
This, but you're gunna get sticker shock when you first start shopping. Then realize that some of the models have 10 year warranties on parts and labor, which means you wont need to buy another chair for 10 years. For a long ass time i was just buying new shitty Office Depot chairs every 18 months for $200 after they broke.

"There's a problem with the high-end Ryzen TDP. 8c 3.6/4.0 at 95W TDP seems impossible with final stepping."
So, ready for literal 150W chips? This also means the non-X version won't be 65W either but probably around 95W. And keep in mind AMD measures TDP differently from Intel, so expect at least 20W more under load
doesnt really matter, as long as they hit desired performance, and cost less people will buy it since they probably already have firehouse running PSU's at 750-1000W
>>58870151
I don't think anyone gives a fuck if the top binning slips to 110-125W TDP or whatever, especially since nobody thought Zen would even hit 3.2 GHz a few months ago.
Intel had the Jew dial turned up to 11 for too long, when they could have trivially killed Zen hype by making Kaby Lake 6 core and <$400, but they didn't and fucked themselves, so now I'm laughing.

Say something nice about Linux.
It's a good kernel for operating systems aimed at people living in poverty or smartphones in India.

it's literally impossible

Oh, you don't need logs to talk about your inner life drama on Facebook and twitter as the usual normies do.
Why include it in the OS? lol

My brother is having a problem w/ Chrome's (56.0.2924.87) new extension that doesn't allow to connect to sites using SHA-1
I have the same version of Chrome, though it doesn't give me the same "error", although I'm using Windows 7, he's using 10.
Any suggestions on how to solve this abomination?
>>58869900
SHA1 TLS certificates have been ofdicially deprecated since 2016-01-01.
Google is slowly disabling support of them in their browser. Slowly, gradually, not for everyone at once. It makes dtecting and fixing potential problems better.
There's no "extension" here.
I don't see the problem here. Do you want to have this feature too? Do you want to decrease the browsing security for your brother and make him vulnerable?
>>58869941
The thing is: he's having problems with sites that are under GOOGLE
YouTube, Google com (or .it, in our case), Google+, Gmail et cetera
Btw he had had such problems for 2 years, +/-, but recently it started blocking most sites, like 90% of them
An I repeat, I don't have such problems. I tried to google the solution but it just directs me to google's (((forums))) full of shit that helps nobody
P.S. Installing other browsers like "Opera" didn't solve the issue
If you use xinput to disable a certain input device, does it disable it on a hardware level (completely shut the device off) or does it just stop the OS from communicating with the device?
>>58869809
Stops X from using it. xinput just maps a device to an X session, so you can have multiple devices for multiple sessions. You can unmap devices, but not disable them completely.
I don't really think you can really disable a usb device, stop giving it power. Most, if not all, motherboards just have the 5V and GND pins in the usb always connected to the power supply.
>>58869890
But what if it's an internal device, like a touch screen on a laptop? If there is no option in the BIOS to disable it, then there is no other way to disable it on a hardware level (without disassembling it and stuff)?
>>58869968
Internal devices are commonly juat connectes ti the same power supply as the reat of the compouter, without any on/off switch.
Why do you need to stop giving your touch screen/keyboard power? Does it make any noises?
What was the response of Richard Stallman on the "microsoft loves linux" meme? Did he turn totally autistic that day? Did he screech?
Let's find out. Nope. A google search brought up nothing.
Did he hide under the pillow?
RMS probably got an autistic hissyfit, and doomed the world.
RMS hates Linux because it's gotten all the fame. But he also need it, because without it GNU and the GPL would've just been a fart in the wind.
>>58869757
Maybe farted 10% longer than usual.
>>58869816
RMS doesn't hate Linux, stop spreading FUD, microshit shill fuck off

Does anyone have recommendations for a decent win10 intel tablet?
Im looking for a cheap brand one, kinda like this fucker, but that actually works.
the thing was basically perfect except for the small internal memory that the windows 10 install eats completely, and the fact that its internal reader came crapped out already, and every one of these is the same.
There must be SOMETHING, at least an atom x5 8300-8350 tier.

i bought pick related to avoid hauling around my behemoth of a laptop.
the shit can't even handle office 365 and is so shitty it goes BSOD every 5 minutes because the hardware can't handle the wireless driver.

check out tech tablets for reviews. I have a Chuwi thats pretty baller, and the shitty internal storage isn't bad once you start throwing sd's at it.

How is it possible that chinese tablets actually work well?
The reason i bought the lenovo is because it was a brand one, one that actually shouldn't have problems cuz it was built with quality in mind, crap like i had with the lenovo is what i was actually to avoid with a brand tablet.
