There is any way to be sure if my Q965/0RF705 mobo would accept a fucking xeon?
I'm using a E2180 currently and could buy a E6700 for just 4€ (the best "officially" supported CPU) but at the same price range the xeon pee on the core2duo/quad stuffs
The thing came inside a optiplex 745 and I'm using it as a r+ru seedbox in pretty flawless ways so far but the CPU sometimes crashes the torrent client if I add a lot of files to download (500GB+)
I want some 65w or less since Iits not stuck in moms basement and I need to pay for it
I'm waiting for the next gen to change this thing for some 6-10w apu/integrated cpu but so far you can rape the cpu of that things with a 5€ xeon
>>58881823
Yes, but it's gonna cost you 4 to 5 euros.
>>58881823
>the CPU sometimes crashes
You sure it's the CPU and not something else?
>>58882218
Yes, since before that I was using a pentium D and the crashes was when I added more than 3 torrents, seeding is almost idle but downloading the cpu go to 100% instantly
According to https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-OptiPlex-360-380-760-780-960-Xeon-LGA-771-E0-1067A-Microcode?page=10
I can only use 65nm ones so not even a core2duo, I only have shitty quad core xeons that are 10€ for pretty bad perfomance and from 80 to 160w
>got a new iphone SE today on a plan
>great phone
>but the fucking power button on the top rattles and is annoying as fuck
why is this allowed? should I take it back?
>plan
lmao fucking cucks
>>58881745
>was paying $30 month just for plan before
>now paying $40 month for 24 months for the same plan + new phone
There is a feature in the phone allowing you to lock it with a soft button
Is nexus 5 truly a perfect phone?
not as long the Nexus 6P is around.
>>58881692
Does it run Android?
Then no.
About hardware is good enough, but materials sucks, it fall from 60cm to tge ground and one of the corner edge bent because plastic. Mine is stil alive after 2 years of rape
So I'm able to upgrade my phone contract in 6 months. I'm going to be getting an iPhone. Is having an iPhone and a Macbook really as seamless as people make it out to be? Is it really as fluid an ecosystem?
Nah
>>58881648
I have an iPhone and a mac. It's ok. I like being able to text, phone and FaceTime through my computer.

If you puge Python from Ubuntu 16.04 it breaks it.
It breaks it so hard that Enable Networking in rescue mode doesn't work, so you can't fix it.
Posting from fresh install.
>do stupid thing due to crippling autismo
>shit breaks
>complain on a vietnamese foot fetish imageboard
pls terminate yourself
It just werks until you decide to delete shit.
It is not advised to install ubuntu without knowing what you want, because it includes a bunch of shit you might not need and when you remove it you have a bunch of dependencies floating around that you have to manually install or remove (don't you try autoremove, or you might accidentally fucking remove the unity control panel by mistake).
It's much better to get something like xubuntu core, no bullshit, just the desktop and what's necessary. I'm one of those people who do -not- like LibreOffice and now that shit gets bundled everywhere, for fucks sake.

Anyone got a nextcloud box?
Are they any good?
Do you mean did anyone buy a nextcloud box, or does anyone have nextcloud running on a raspberry pi with a HDD attached to it?
>>58881408
>only usable on local network
Why get this?
I just use plex.
>>58881408
so... it's just a microSD and a WD drive plugged into a raspberry pi, with the pi not included?
how much are they charging for this?
More and more people who don't have a passion or don't know shit about get into CS. What gives? Is it the premise of making good money? They literally know nothing about this field.
DUDE CS IS THE FUTURE LMAO
>>58881377
I knew nothing about computers and had never programmed before I started studying CS back in 2006. I'm currently doing my PhD and I have work experience as an embedded developer (so clearly I'm not in it for the money).
What's your fucking problem? Do you think literature majors have a deep passion for literature?
>>58881377
More and more people who don't have a passion or don't know shit about make babbies. It all rolls downhill from there.
Which is better?
1. Watching a movie on an IPS screen using a VGA connection
2. Watching a movie on a TN screen using a HDMI/DVI connection
The former

Was looking at making a DIY battery bank, but I've got a few questions.
I'm going to use probably around twelve 18650 batteries with a board to handle charging and that sort of stuff.
My questions are:
>how much should I be paying for legit 18650s?
>should I be using 18650s? is there a better battery that I can use? size doesn't matter, the housing is pretty big
Thanks
please ask /diy/

You should go with a reputable brand like samshit or something like that, don't buy the cheap chinese ones advertising capacities like 5600 mAh and such, in practice they literally have only 1/10 of that. Anything above 4000 is definitely fake, anything above 3000 for cheap is likely fake. Also, what do you want to use it for? If you want to charge your phone with it, you need some powerful step-down circuit to make it 5V. Also you should get a real powerful charging circuit, otherwise it will literally take 10 hours to charge the battery bank, and it should have discharge and overcharge protection (battery bank should shut off if the batteries get below ~3.3V and charging should stop if the voltage goes above 4.2V).
>>58882415
Also, if you have a laptop, you should make it compatible with its charger by getting the right circuit, because charging that thing from USB is not an option.

A free (as in freedom) kernel. A tragically cheap ripoff (made by a student) of some abortion called MINIX, which was a mediocre ripoff of UNIX.
