Alright /g/. My sister has a MacBook Air which she forgot the password for. I have tried resetting it by pressing command + r and resetting thru there but it won't let me select a user. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is there another way to reset the whole laptop?
Thanks guys

It's inevitable. Anyone with a pulse is starting a phone app company now. The scary thing is they are attracting investors still, for some of the most mundane ideas.
>>58884915
Phone app bubble probably, but tech in general? No way.
The digital revolution is a fucking joke, it has not improved economy nor quality of life since it started
is this book going to make me better programmer?
is it wort the effort?
>>58884602
its a good idea if your into encryption or physics programming.
math will only make you a better programmer if you have a reason to use it.
If you do html programming or the like, dont bother unless if you just enjoy mathematics

any of you fags ever restore a model M before?
if youve got stains in the plastic, will a bath in denture cleaning tablets get rid of them?
if not, how do you clean something like that?
with regards to bolt modding:
does the rubber membrane really need to be separated from the barrel before you drill through?
how viable is doing it with a cordless drill?
>>58884596
Those tablets are really really mild bleach. Use stronger stuff for bathrooms. Be prudent.
Try soapy water plus toothbrush first. Some alcohol may also help.
>>58884743
ive tried with a toothbrush and isopropyl with no resutls
>>58884719
what would you advise i use?
Well, /g/?

Should've used C instead.

Any shortwave fans got advice on pulling in signals? I'm new to the hobby and can find a few stations at night. I've been looking at antenna builds online but thought I'd ask around as to what other people have made/use.
>>58884257
it might not be exactly what you want but look into getting an rtl sdr or some other usb sdr, they're not all made equal so check the spec sheets but typically the cheaper rtl sdrs do about 24-50mhz on the low end (you can use a downconverter to get even lower) while others can do down to 100/10/1khz (sdrplay rsp2 does 1khz, rsp1 does 10khz for instance)
they make pretty shit radios but the reason they're useful (and this is coming from a ham guy not a shortwave guy so ymmv) is that they tend to be able to scan a huge amount of bandwidth and coupled with the power of decent computer software you can scan a *lot* of frequencies very quickly and very often, and get some really nice features such as spectrographs, it makes finding the interesting signals and stations a hell of a lot easier and once you've found them on the sdr you can pick them up on your decent radio and put the rtl sdr back to scanning

Just downloaded a movie on a magnet from YTS.AG... I do this quite often, but for some reason it will not play in VLC. Try also to convert via handbrake but it won't even allow me to add to the que. Any ideas?

Hey /g/ I wanted to build a small home server to have movies and music etc. I know the basic of computers (not much) but just wanted some tips and advice
>>58883807
start with installing gentoo
>>58883807
Find an old desktop. Any old dual/quad core will normally do. Install a server OS, generally pretty simple these days (ubuntu server, centOS, debian). Then just install some media server program. I use plex, but there are lots of different ones to use.

>what are you waiting for?

>>58883841
Come on down to the chrome store today and get welcomed by Osprey 1.0.3! That's right! Not 1.0.1 Not 1.0.2 but 1.0.3! Now for selling for the low low price of free!
That good enough for you?
I finally got a job and decided to spend my money on big boy things: like a VPN. I'm looking at Nordvpn, pic related, but I'm hoping to find another one for a little bit cheaper
Nord is about $40 for a year but all I need one for is for browsing the internet; not p2p traffic. I just need it on 3 devices and don't give a shit about spoofing location for Netflix or any of that crap
Any recommendations?
>>58883721
well whats your threat model? i.e who/what are you protecting yourself from?
>>58883721
Buy a cheap VPS, run your own VPN on it, and spend the rest of your money on something else.
>>58883872
I have a horrible ISP at home; shitty DSL. I can't set up any kind of server, even to redirect traffic
>>58883832
Muh gubbermint
And so I can browse 4chan while at work
