distrowatch has a small impact in the real world

you think everyone looks for distros only from distrowatch? only hobbyists go there.

I go directly to their respective websites. I only go on distrowatch to check news and ntohing more.

Can't say I expected a dignified response from a niggerbuntucuck

Those statistics are based on page clicks on distrowatch.

Reminder that Linux Mint doesn't even have a security team like Debian, Ubuntu, RHEL/Fedora, openSUSE, etc.

No self respecting sysadmin will actually roll out Mint.

Ambulances, breathing machines, etc are all expected to be reliable. We live in a time where software bugs kill people. Using a memory unsafe language like C is plain unethical. There are much better alternatives in this day and age. The only reason anyone would learn C in 2017 is to feel superior. Fuck anyone who codes in C.
>>
>>58886611
What do you recommend instead of C?

I've never seen that before is that a barcode of sorts?
>>
>>58886412
Yes. Back in the day the operating systems were so small in size you could fit in a bar code, then you could just scan it to boot Windows which saved a lot of valuable hard disk space.
>>
>>58887687
Application programs were distributed in magazines this way.
There was a special scanner - the "Cauzin Softstrip Reader".
You scanned the barcode into you computer and ran the program.

does UEFI provide any real benefit, or is it just garbage? I have it disabled on my devices because it only ever seems to cause problems.

>>58886032
as far as I'm concerned it's a garbage solution to a problem that never existed
>>
it's shit
>>
>>58886032
Well, first off, it allows you to boot easier than ever before. One efi file on the root partition and you're set (if the FS is recognized by the UEFI).
Second, it actually is an OS by itself: you can run a shell, you can write a module for it, you can even launch a browser if you want. Possibilities are endless compared to BIOS.
I personally use it for NVMe SSD.

What's the fastest most lightweight ROM out there? I've got Archidroid on mine which starts off really fast when you first install it, then it gradually gets slower and slower, as waiting 20 seconds just to open a new fucking tab in google chrome
