Best free software/method to record your screen with audio preferably?
Read the fucking wiki

Stop breaking the rules asshole. You can't even have a picture with audio.

Real headphones are shit quality bro.
Who else waiting for the next BlackBerry to revive the keyboard fad?
I just picked up a priv yesterday and i absolutely love it.
Not me. Physical keyboards that small are too uncomfortable to use.

If they come out with a sideways one I'll buy it right away. My Droid 4 is getting really old. Would be nice to upgrade.
Dear /g/, how do I hire competent IT people?
>mid-2016: join medium-sized team of code monkeys as a Junior Developer, learning the ropes
>recently lose 6 people (two people quit for better offer, three people fired in security audit for browsing inappropriate content (sharing dank memes via company Trello), last one goes for paternity leave)
>team is now me and spastic intern that leaves in May
>understand barely 30% of the project codebase, operate the rest as a black box
>code largely undocumented, often missing latest commits (the >PROMOTIONS people were fired on spot)
>field-promoted to Senior Developer, have to keep the project aloft
Starting tomorrow, HR will be throwing people at me, I get to name four* that will be hired starting next month. How do I sort out the competent individuals? I've read the CVs and ruled out the obvious warning signs, but that still leaves almost two dozens.
I've also spent most of this weekend browsing common interview questions, putting together what I'm gonna ask them. I'm well aware that some (perhaps most) of those people will atually have higher technical skill than I do, which makes my task even more difficult - I can't properly test the areas I don't know myself.
Would you have any pointers for my situation?
* I was subtly reminded that at least one of them should be foreigner or woman (or person with disability, but none turned up in the CVs) but that still gives me plenty of choice.
you ask them to show what projects they created, how the fuck did you get "competent"
>>58918680
>Dear /g/, how do I hire competent IT people?
You train them. The ones who look friendly.
>* I was subtly reminded that at least one of them should be foreigner or woman (or person with disability, but none turned up in the CVs) but that still gives me plenty of choice.
Oh, you're just sharing your fantasy on /g/. Get a life.
You have two options.
1) Throw them into a room with a computer without internet and give them some problems. If they can manage, then they're okay. Something simple -- not FizzBuzz, but similar. Something that would take 10 minutes for anyone with a brain who had done an intro class.
Either that, or write something and have them de-bug it. That's a classic.
2) Ask them to bring a program that they had made and explain components of it in detail.
These are tests to see if they can 1) read code and understand what is happening, and 2) be able to generate code.

I see a large demand for diverse data sets that are rigorously classified, annotated, and most of all created by human interaction. Are games the next step? The human interaction is a given, as is the logging of relevant data. Who’s going to be the first to climb this mountain, or more likely, who’s out there in front of this already? Do you believe that one can successfully “Gameify” the data creation / curation field?
>>58918632
what do you think google's captchas are?
>>58918696
Absolutely, but that's simple character recognition, plus nobody wants to "play" captcha
>>58918998
Have you seen those new captchas with street signs or house numbers though?
Give users virtual "points" for "helping out" and you have an army of good goyim who will rush to support the botnet at the drop of a hat. Especially if they can show those points to their facebook friends as something that shows that they "love science".
What's a well-respected programming language that is still uself c# is a meme and boring as fuck
>uself
Did you mean useful?
What do you want to use this language for? Regardless of your answer, learn C.
>>58918606
Depends on what kind of work you want to do. I like C, C++, and Ruby.
>>58918962
Yes, you are correct. I misspelled it. Sorry /lit/
>>58919037
oh cool, I need to try out C. But what about low-level programming. Something that will make me look cool because no other normies understand but at the same time has a actually use other than learning for e-peen and to suck off other faggots on IRC all day.
Hello guys, normiefag here.
I use my PC mainly for Gaming, College—Stuff and a little bit of programming, at a basic level. Everyone says that Linux is Generally better than Windows, but, knowing what use I give to my PC, which are the advantages of using Linux and not Windows?
Linux is a meme.
>>58918597
Linux is more flexible, you might have trouble to begin with but as you use it you'll learn of new and faster ways to do things.
Windows has games and is easier to work with if you're new to it.
I dual boot for games, but do most of my work on linux.
>>58918597
Linux is nice for general browsing, normal use but the moment you need any business, college related stuff or do any media work with adobe products, video editing etc you run into massive trouble and its a pain in the ass
What comes after 10?
More spyware?
More lock-in?
More appstore?
>>58918529
Software vendors are forced to publish windows compatible binaries only through the appstore, preventing the chance of torrenting by 100%
Too bad Microsoft is pussy and wont do it. Microsoft Windows was saved by the virtue of torrenting, software piracy keeps windows alive.
>>58918529
>What comes after 10?
Subscription software.
The only way MS can be absolutely sure they get paid for every byte.
I'm just wondering why all video editing software for windows is complete garbage. All I'm trying to do is sync an audio file with some video, and every single program I've attempted is utter horseshit. Its either incredibly overcomplicated when it comes to a task that should be as simple as "Drag the audio stream to re-position it" or its so simple it can't do anything like that.
I've tried Windows Movie Maker (Yes I know that's supposed to be trash but I don't need any crazy features, this is low level stuff) and its worthless
I've tried lightworks but its so overly complicated that the thread for syncing audio is six pages long and concludes with "We dunno, you can't in this version."
At this point, all I want is something simple and preferably open source. This is something I can do in 5 minutes in iMovie, but fuck apple. Does anyone have a good suggestion to try?
try sony vegas
>>58918556
not free, download it from some shitty site

Premiere pro is pretty gud
Well it's not free
For free stuff there's always kdenlive
Is there a tech channel on youtube more JUST than this?
I remember that man.
If there's nothing worse than his channel itself, it's the way he tries to justify that he's still somehow a tech channel when all he does is vlog his beaner family and play with lego

Oh
Gaymer child here. I want to end it, my addiction to games is too fucking much. I have PC that runs everything and chinkpad T420 for uni. I want to dispose my PC and invest in a laptop that will run only Overwatch in 60fps (hey, at least I won't play like 10 other games I am playing right now) and hopefully will make me more productive. What would /g/ recommend? Budget is 500$, laptop can be an used one. Good GNU/Linux support is seen as major plus.
you should kys
kill yourself
>>58917873
if you want to kill your addiction then continuing overwatch is fucking stupid
just stop playing vidya all together then

All for roughly 160€/170US$. I usually play shit like HL2 and Portal 1/2
Should I give it a shot?
>>58917825
Yes, Source engine is easy as fuck to run on low tier hardware. Stick to Valve games at 1080p and you'll be fine.
Haggle it down to 150
>>58917825
I've seen i7-920s for that money on ebay.
