i dont know how to use i is new to linux
install gentoo
Why shouldn't I buy one? I am looking for a laptop with Quad-Core i7 for work and dedicated video card for light gaming. The UX501 is only 6th gen and has a bad screen, the DELL XPS 15 will end up costing upwards of 600 leaf-bucks more. I don't necessarily want a gaming laptop, but they have a much better price for the tech.
The XPS also doesn't have a numpad, which is a very useful thing to have
Lenovo Y700 or Dell i7559
I went with the MSI GE62VR for $1250 and feel very satisfied.
Lenovo Legion
What's the best custom ROM for this?
just give up
get a new phone

/thread
I'm inheriting a laptop from my brother and I'm going to put windows 10 on it. I remember seeing in a thread, I can't remember when, someone using enterprise edition rather than home or professional. what is the advantage of this? if it means no ads in the start menu, this is something I want. main question, what is the advantage of enterprise edition over other editions. thank you and sorry for bad English.

I have tried many distro in the past and it's not my cup of tea. for school and gaming it is simply more convenient for me to stick with Windows. thank you for contributing.
Why did FOSS smartphone OS never take off?
>>58936452
because Mozilla is a shitty company full of shitty devs, just use Android Open Source Project
>>58936452
>just use Android Open Source Project
um, ok?
>>58936452
Because the vast majority of smartphone users don't give a fuck about FOSS' philosophy and there's already AOSP, why fragmentize things?
how much does one of these matter?
Mines about 5+ years old and my internet cuts like every few minutes. Usually have to turn off wifi from wifi and turn it back on and it works again.
my ISP (which sucks) is blaming my router, to buy new router or not? what should i look for?
>tfw 13 year old di-524
>tfw it's still working with not a single problem
>>58949042
Routers are designed to deliberately brick themselves after a few years, definitely consider a new one.
>>58949042
go to your local second hand store and buy a shitty one for $5 to test.
Redpill me on Android phones available today, /g/. I want to upgrade from my Nexus 5, and the most likely purchase seems like a OnePlus 3T. Worth buying, or should I wait for the new generation of chipsets to come out this year?
Pixel
>>58948554
why on earth would someone buy a just-released smartphone instead of getting one from 1-2 generations ago for cheap as shit
do you actually do anything on your phone that requires high specs, or is it all just texting, internet browsing, social media, etc
only reason to buy the "latest and greatest" is to use it as a fashion accessory
Install
Gentoo
Hello /g/, until this moment I've been using google chrome browser, but i want to use something better. should i just use Firefox, or there is better browser than this?
>>58946978
Pale moon, never had any issue with it.
ungoogled-chromium
I use Maxthon, but it turned into shit after Maxthon 3.
Unfortunately I still use it because it has features I like, with no other browser equivalents that work properly.
I use ASTER on windows 7 to split ONE pc into TWO work stations
For example one PC can i have
>its own user login
>its own keyboard/mouse
>its own monitor
>both times, so it acts exactly like 2 separate PC's
Now...how is something like this possible on linux? I understand Xorg is just a standalone server, how could I run 2 xorg sessions with different users and make Linux act like two completely separate PC's, on one desktop?
Is it even possible..lol?
>>58946340
Stop doing that retard. Just what kind of poorfag are you?
Forgot to mention, ONE AMD graphics card, and hopefully not 3 days of custom tinkering.
Is there software similar to ASTER for linux?
>inb4
lol useless OS for hobbyists
>>58946347
Its extreemly convienent. Oh I forgot theres no such thing as 'convienence" in Linux
Why do people use this crap OS again?
>>58946347
I love how anytime linux is obviously lacking in features or missing crucial software the general response of gnumales / linux fanboys is "LOL POORFAG"
or "OH WELL GET OVER IT"
fucking insanely bad OS desu
