I use Suse and don't even connect to the net that often.
However, I'm still concerned that every time I set up the wireless connection, *someone* is able to see my dickpics, notes, and all. Should be easy enough for them. I have a T430.
Is there any way to have any privacy except using a 20 year old laptop that can't connect to the net at all? Or are we fine? I even fear that the thing is always connected, regardless of your setting. Even with the "hardware" wifi switch off.
I REALLY don't want anyone seeing the images I have.
>>58950727
Nobody gives a fuck about your dick pics you fucking pedo.
Get rid of the T430 and buy a T420 to install coreboot on, then youll have full BIOS-level control of the wi-fi card. You cam even keep the Ivy Bridge CPU, Coreboot supports it on the T420.

just use a wired connection.
go has the "the go programming language"(k&r 2.0), what does rust have? that webshit book has no example programs. what the fuck is rusts deal?
It's sexy.
>>58950661
Rustaceans don't actually write code. Of course there aren't any example programs.
>>58950661
I'm learning go too and I can assure you that the go programming language is not a K&R 2.0.
For rust, this book is very good:

Someone please explain to me why the jump from 4k to 5k is an $800+ difference.
1k more duh
>>58950614
Because if you're dumb enough to buy a display that there's no native content and no hardware can run games at native resolution, you might as well just get on with it and get your dumb ass ripped off at the same time.
>>58950614
There isn't much demand for 5k panels, so there not very mass produced. Most people are still wanting just a 4k panel. To give an example Apple can sell a full iMac with a 5k screen for as much as dell wants for just the screen just because Apple builds so many Macs
Has anybody ever taken the comptia+ cert?
Its my first cert im studying for im 25 desperate and wondered what it is like.
Go away dumb frog poster
I just did my A+, wasn't too hard but I already had IT work experience.
My advice is: Take practice tests until you get them right.

I think you have that disease where you can't discern facial emotions. I think it's called autism.
So I loaded pfSense onto one of my old computers and it's me edge device now, so what now? It's literally sitting at 0.3% average CPU utilization, why did I even do this over a shitty arm router?

options
but if you cant see a use for it, then you are not doing the types of things that could really use it.
Most people never really need anything more than port forwarding
Uptime for one, if your hardware is solid it will run for a decade without a reboot. Setup openvpn on it to get remote access to your network.
>>58952221
interesting idea. I dont think i have a real use for it though. I only have a single storage server and just sftp into it
So I went to the theme changer on my phone but there is not "add" or "more" option.
Not your personal tech support
Is there an app for a theme store?
install gentoo
So I just got a new laptop (pic related), and immediately noticed that it has a bunch of dead pixels. I counted 12, but there might be more.
How common a problem is this and should I ask for a refund/get it replaced? What's the chance that a new unit would also have it?
Is there some way for me to fix it myself?
I've been using a macbook for 6 years and it doesn't have a single dead pixel...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7wfHStzm24
Check Dells policy. I think you can return it if it has more than 10 dead pixels.
>>58950344
Check Dells policy. I think you can get a laptop with better QA
why is it so god damned difficult to format my old windows 7 hdd?
What have you tried?
>why is this simple task so hard for me?

On demand for single files?
Any of those file testing websites.
otherwise use malware bytes the rest are meh tier.
And even then malware bytes does little.
Noob to Kali here, just working on my senior project.
What is a good tool in Kali 2.0 to pentest on a local server such as 192.168.0.11?
>pic unrelated

I hear Ayinger Celebrator is a good tool in Kali 2.0 to pentest a local server.
I don't mean for career reasons. I mean, for the actual sake of education and learning software development beyond code monkey levels.
Also consider that I'm from Europe. If I were from the US, I wouldn't ask this question. There are dozens of degrees named "Software Engineering" in the US. In the Europe, I only found a Masters degree in Amsterdam that has exactly this name. Kinda pathetic.
Surely you have degrees in Computer Science?
More pics please
>>58950046
Is computer science still listed as a math degree where you are? If so, it's probably an awesome as fuck degree.
most autistic tech related thing you have done
>install gentoo on my ps3
>turn it into a dedicated tripcode miner
>hoard dank tripcodes for max shit posting

"Cloud" sounds a lot better desu
Hey /g/ I was told today the best way to learn Linux was by installing Gentoo. Was I meemed
>>58949557
Absolutely.
In my opinion, the best way to learn linux is to use Arch.
>inb4 experimental tech support simulator
Arch gives you enough to be "productive", but still requires you to do a lot of the heavy lifting.
Bear in mind, Arch should not be your primary OS if you're still learning linux. Don't overwrite your Windows/OS X/Whatever.
Spend a week on Arch, and then check out Ubuntu. Ubuntu is a fucking gift from the heavens in comparison. This contrast will allow you to appreciate how much work was put into the different distros.
>>58949557
Installing Gentoo is definitely one of the best ways to learn about Linux.
But if you're only installing Gentoo to learn about it, go somewhere else.
