I work a job where I am allowed to listen to music, but I need wireless earbuds, and only for one ear as I work.

I've heard that you can't make the Apple wireless earbuds work for just one ear at a time. Is that true?

Ideally, I'd have a way to pause them and maybe control volume wirelessly.

Anyhow, what are my best options?

What's the best overall option, and what's the best budget option?

> it's a piece of shit sensor anon
> it's a piece of shit wireless anon
what a bunch of bollocks the above memes were. the mouse has proven to be the best piece of technology I have ever put together in my life as an individual piece. omg where do I start. Amazing data-connection with a wired STANDARDIZED usb cable, alternative fully wireless connection, dubbing as a remote control from anywhere in the fucking house. Fucking hilariously sturdy whatever the abuse, especially if you are good with micro-repairs. No fucking memester can tell a difference in sensor technologies without being prejudiced. They would fail to tell differences with a blind test. Amazing ergonomcs. Even if you don't give a shit about some of the extra buttons you can just not use them and they are not in the way. Hilariously comfy as shit. Amazing aesthetics, both Patrician and Gaming at the same time, omg it still looks amazing 100 years later. It still fucking works. Fucking amazing mouse omg. It's unbelievable.

One actual negative, the battery is like dead in within like 10 hours.

But, due to the data USB connection with a standard cable, who gives a shit, it's practically a standard data connection mouse too, it gets power from the cable that way and it never breaks because even if it does, just stick another microusb cable in it lying around until you find a better more flexible cable.

Unbelievable technology. Logitech must be feeling like idiots with that mouse. They released it and then they went like OMG what did we do, it's so good, nobody will buy anything anymore if they got that already.

I bet the G700S is worse.

It does look less patrician too.

I have it, it's a good mouse but not all sunshine and rainbows like OP makes it out to be.

1) The battery life is just silly. I have spare eneloops now but before I had it plugged in half the time.
2) The cable sucks dick. It's way too stiff, so IMO having it plugged in is not ideal.
3) Maybe it's something on my end but it's always reverting to the default profile on reboots, rather than staying on the last used profile.
4) Not a huge fan of the ergonomics personally. Could be better, could be worse.
5) I don't like the mouse wheel. I don't really like any of Logitech's mouse wheels.
6) The haptics on the buttons suck. They feel like cheap shit on what is a $100 mouse.

I do really like the aesthetics, it's probably the nicest looking mouse out there. And I agree about the G700s, Logitech basically defaced.
It's ery sturdy as well, so that's nice.
The best thing is the button layout. For one of my profiles I have the three buttons next to the lmb set to Page Up, Page Dow, and Ctrl-W. And two of the side buttons are mapped to Home and End. Really great for browsing. The extra buttons are also nice for 3D modeling.

I'm interested in finally learning a programming language and I've decided to start with Python. Is codeacademy a good resource for getting the basics or should I just buy a book and teach myself?

To me it seemed like the kind of software that holds your hands pretending to teach you while never taking the training wheels off, but who knows if it'll work for you. Try it out; it's not like there's any commitment.
>>

python is fun, pretty easy too.

fun to use on a *nix system.

coursera or codeacamdemy is fine, book is better if you can commit

if your on windows consider C# after. gets a lot done and is nice to use
>>
>>58952451
I started with Python on Codecademy, went from there to books. This was like 4 years back. I'm now pursuing my masters in software engineering.

Codecademy is a good place to start, it's not going to get your a job immediately but it'll go over the fundamentals you need to really start learning.

i bet this is why my laptop overheats

Yeah, probably. You should start changing the thermal paste every 6-8 months. Arctic Silver 5 is the best paste. I got 2 tubes of the stuff for 10 dollars. Also never use water to remove the paste (I've seen people do it before). Use dry q-tips to get the bulk of the hardened paste off, then use an alcohol pad to clean off the remainder. Completely dry everything with some tissue, then apply the new thermal paste and reassemble your machine.

Welcome to /g/, newfag.

I dunno if /g/ is the place for this, but I want to build a thing.

Basically I want to figure out how to build a PCI-e M.2 adapter, I've seen x4 cards that house 1 or 2 M.2 cards, usually with the second hooked up to a SATA port.

What I'm looking to do, however, is to figure out how that works, then scale it to x16 so I can mount 4 x M.2 cards.

Once I get it working, I can look at things like raid configurations, however the first step is simply to get the cards mounted and showing up individually, whereby I can set up a software RAID0 or RAID10.

I'm a software engineer in a hardware engineering team, with access to pretty much any equipment I'd need, short of the chips such as PCI-e bridges.

So how about it, anyone know how to go about it, or even have a card on hand that I can take a closer look at?

Why not ask the team you work with, or are you in the remedial school team?
>>
>>58952939

I have, the lead electrical engineer has asked for high-res images of an existing adapter card. His team is under the pump hard at the moment, so I'm trying to reduce the amount of his time I waste to a minimum so I can use him more during the physical build of a prototype.

If I ask too much of him I'll end up having to trade favours in the form of giving him more access to my software guys, and they are already overburdened after I lost my best guy.

Plus I'm trying to do as much as I can without someone holding my hand, learning more on his side of the house can only make us better at working together on our joint projects - this is as much a learning exercise for me as anything else.

Around 9 months ago I started teaching poor kids in Bed-Stuy NYC how to code. They picked everything up really fast.

The class has grown to where I'm volunteering every other night. The benefits I've gotten from this has been immense.

Why don't you volunteer your time to teach the next generation of technology workers so we don't have to import more outsiders?

How does /g/ keep it's equipment clean?

Any tips, tricks or regimens that have proven more effective than others?

I Swiffer everything within easy reach nearly every day (less cabling the better I tell you what)

I use plenty of cheap canned air from Harbor Freight (pic related)

And I run a few 20 inch box fans around the house with cheap disposable 20 inch furnace filters on the back (the green ones, about a dollar piece and last about a month).

Dust is still always an issue.

Buy pic related, its $50.
Get some Cyberclean too, that stuff is great for puling dust away from all the inboard components.

I dust my PC every 2 months or so, take it outside to minimize the dirt.
I clean the air filters once a month or so.

Once a year or whenever I upgrade something, remove all the major components and go over everything with CyberClean

>Just gotta watch the power of it with gpu fans and stuff, it could damage them.
I work in a dusty warehouse, and I need to clean the PC stations there on a regular basis. I blast them while they are on, and spin the their fans up to some jet noise level. Been doing this for over a year. Never damaged a PC, and never broken a fan. Infact we had zero PSU fan failures in the last 8 months since I started cleaning the PCs like that on a regular basis. When I first started there we had a PSU fail once a week.

I mean I wouldnt do that to my PC, but so far so good.

Can /g/ recommend a Virtual Private Server provider?

Most unix applications are developed with the idea that they will be libraries and might be unit tested using the command line. Later on they are glued together to form a final application. At that point it doesn't matter if it's GUI or cli.
>>
>>58950787
.net isn't a library that you can link to, it's a complete language framework with VM like Java/JVM.
