Which Linux distribution are you currently on?
How many distributions do you currently have installed/run?
Which one/s is/are your favorite/s?
Which of the distribution/s that you ran/run are your least favorite/s and why?
I'm on arch
I've ran arch, debian, Ubuntu, kubuntu, DSL and knoppix
The best was arch
The worst was a tie for debian/Ubuntu
Most modern "arch users" are Windows users who live to troll the last remaining human users of /g/, right?
On the desktop mostly Ubuntu. Ever since I got a job (4-5years). Previously been running Crux and Arch.
"I have a low opinion of Gentoo GNU/Linux.
Gentoo is a GNU/Linux distribution, but its developers don't recognize this; they call it "Gentoo Linux". That means they are treating me and the GNU Project disresepectfully.
More importantly, Gentoo steers the user towards nonfree programs, which is why it is not one of our recognized free distros."

Say it with me:
Gentoo BSD/Linux

>having the freedom to use whatever software i want is bad even if i know free software should be the standard
Listening to rms is fun, but he is extreme as fuck.
Fat communist cuck.
I want to start my own business helping protecting people from hackers/spies. I have been working in IT for years. I have always wanted to work in the Computer Security field but when I was 21 I had a bad night that has cost me a lot in regards to dealing with background checks and such. It was only 1 event but the cops got 'creative' with the charges as my lawyer put it. I was made an example of. It happened 12 years ago as of next month.
Has anyone ever had to deal with a similar situation? This is the reason I think I should go into business for myself. I am very confident in my own abilities and I know my shit. I have been hired several times until people see the incident on my record. Then they rescind the offer. It is gut wrenching every time I try to get a new job. If you have any advice I would be eternally grateful!
>>58962710
If you're entering your mid thirties with no prior experience or skills in the industry, please do not start a company selling security.
Get yourself a job and learn it inside and out while getting paid and experienced.
Selling security without the requisite skills is firstly unethical and damaging to the profession, but worse, will lead you to embarrassment and ruination when another lawyer gets creative with liability after you failed to live up to standard.
>>58962710
just stop being a faggot,
just go do it anon.
>>58962710
please do it anon, i dont want this guy to spy on my phone
JavaScript
What do you deem as okay? Native JS, no JS, Ajax or jQuery or hipster library's? I try to avoid javascript but sometimes it's better for normie users. Why can't we have a web without faggot.js?
I want to add an event listener to multiple elements using a loop.
for (int i = 0; i < numofelements; i++{
getElementById(name + i).addEventListener("click",function{
doSomething(i);
})
}
function doSomething(a){
console.log(a);
}
Now why is it that it doesn't remember the value of i when I first added it and uses the last known value of i. How do I get around this.
>>58962514
I like angular but anons on here will claim all js shit bloatscript
>Why can't we have a web without faggot.js?
Because the only people who work on webdev are the people too stupid to understand what they're doing to begin with, so you end up with 685 libraries that all half-do what you want and 13 frameworks written by people who, again, do not know what they're doing.
It is developed and maintained by idiots.
hey guys my dog keeps shocking my computer can i spray it down with antistatic spray?

I can't wrap my head around how it works, searching google, people just repeat algorithm like a buzz word
I just don't get how your search term, no matter how long you make it, will be surrounded by either random english words or random characters depending on which option you used to search
like the random english words, how could they all be words, if they wern't being picked from a dictionary
i'll like my red pill with an order of sauce please

Zotac recommend
Hard drive is 83% free, and completely healthy according to disk management. Any ideas?
You're gonna need to give more info. Bumping because I have a similar problem; I can only shrink 15gb even though I have ~50gb free.
>>58961926
have a 500GB drive, 83% free. sometimes disk management shows I can shrink up to 150GB other times less than 5. When it shows I have enough free to do what I want I attempt to shrink and it throws an error at me.
Defrag, otherwise your files will be spread all through that free space
What the fuck is this """"Growth Hacking"""" bs?
marketing without paying
>>58961306
First season was funny as hell. Second was meh. They lost me when the broadcast.net dude accidentally wiped all porn.
>>58961306
A "growth hacker" is a title used for specialized developers whose job entails ensuring their current and future infrastructure is able to support the growth of their company.
What _actually_ counts as hacking? Does guessing a password count as hacking? Social engineering someone to get their password? Surely, it's more complex than that, right? Do hackers write algorithms to fuck shit up? And are all hackers really Russian?
;3 hehe hry sweetie can i save that nice picture of yours?
Finding a codebase and hacking around at it to make it do cool stuff for fun in your spare time.
There you go, you're not a hacker.
>>58961178
so its just getting access to a codebase and writing/changing the current code or even adding code to make it do stuff they dont want? thats it?

Hey /g/, normie faggot from here. I've been lurking in programming threads on /b/ for the past few days, and I'm still not really sure what it is you programmers do. Like, you write code to make websites work, but I don't really understand it beyond that. What would an average "programming job" consist of? I don't really get what programming can do besides math.

I know, but I'm not a programmer so it's not like I have any sort of baseline
is it worth it?
No, this is: http://xon.sh/
None of them are.
If they don't even have a bash mode they are basically already dead.
Even zsh, with all its language enhancements like nested string manipulation, and even "more corporate friendly" license hasn't deprecated bash.
>>58961879
Why would they need bash-mode? Any scripts that you would execute have a she-bang anyways: as long as you have bash and sh installed all system-scripts run perfectly fine.
That's like saying as they don't also have a mode to be actively worse, they aren't worth it. Although for the record, xonsh does have a way to source/execute bash files.
