So I've been doing a lot of research on how the Internet works and was wondering if it would be possible to send digital information without the use of an ISP. According to my research, an ISP is just a company that helps you transmit your information over long distances in the same way that you pay a post office to send your message over a long distance.

However, I am aware that the radio waves used by cellular companies can reach around the globe. Amateur radio operators do this all the time. They pay for a licensing fee to use the air waves, but they don't have to go through an ISP to transmit their data. I am also aware of "packet radio" that can transmit messages and slow-scan television (SSTV) that can transmit images.

But what I'm wondering is if there is a way to transmit digital data in large amounts either wirelessly or not without having to go through the ISP? I heard that if you know a server's address, your packet is sent directly to the server without going through the "sorting facility" that your ISP runs. Is this true? If I connected directly to a server, would the ISP be able to see my traffic and bill me for the data usage?

look up how wifi works, and then look at how much a mesh network would cost to set up.
theoretically, if you had enough people join in then you could have a massive network throughout your town, and if enough towns joined in then you could have nationwide coverage. 100% free to use wireless network for the whole country

>1440p isn't worth it on a 24 inch monitor

Who started this meme and why?

Except even at 2 ft, the PPD is about 51, which is right at the limit depending on which expert/measurement you believe.

Why you memeing, bro?
>>
>>58980060
24" 1440p is 122PPI which is certainly at the upper limit, but should still be fine for most people at proper desktop viewing distances.

If you have poor eyesight, or a particularly large desk that positions your monitors further away from you than is normal, 24" 1440p should be fine.

Is the LG G4 a safe phone to get? I heard it has a "bootloop" problem. Is this common?
42 posts and 3 images submitted.

no. It has bootloops, and they don't make replacement mobos. just get something else, mabye the 1+3T, or better, just wait for MWC
>>
Its great and cheap, I got it new for 200 with the promo tmobile had

MAKE SURE YOU DONT GET A MODEL WITH 505 on the S/N number on the box
Usually those manufactured around mid 2016 are good
>>
I have one and really enjoy it. Tbh though, the bootloop thing would scare me too much to get one new. I haven't had any problems personally. Great cameras, and hasn't slowed down at all since I got it over a year ago.

Uni offers special engineering scholarships to females only.
"Our mission is to drive females toward engineering, in order to let them fully contribute to society's development"

How ridiculous is this? Should I call the police?

Throw a shitfit and threaten to call both the local news stations and tell each of them the other is gonna cover it first if they don't hurry until Uni complies

For chauvinism, they're implying females are unable to contribute without massive help.

Vivaldi.
It's slick comfy, deletes all the cookies and history if I close it and its gui is top notch in my opinion.
And works great on linux.

seriously, have fun shrinking 3-4 inches over your lifetime, have fun with an unnatural lower spine curvature, have fun when you hit 40 and you have to see the doctor for lower back pain, have fun hunching over to play ball with your grandchildren, seriously how does it feel to be controlled by the masses and forced to slave away while in a position the human body isn't meant to be in? what do you have to say for yourself?

Windows crashes all the fucking time

I've only been using Linux for about a year and half, but it has never ever ever crashed on me.

I think the final straw was when I got BSOD just for leaving my computer sitting idle for more than 20 minutes. Like what was it even doing that made it crash like that? It was idle. There were no programs running. What the fuck was it doing in the background without my permission, and why was it doing it so terribly that it caused it to BSOD?
