Seriously, iPhones are fucking trash. The only thing they've got going for them is the fact that none of them come with shitty processors, like some cheap lagdroids do. Aside from that, it's just a shitty, unintuitive experience AND I WANT MY MOTO G4 BACK. Fuck this shit.

with algorithms you always see them written in the native language then put in somewhere, should we use the native language that an app is being developed in and use that language to call a lower-level language to make it zoom zoom zoom faster?

in general you will not notice the difference in speeds

in general you won't notice the difference in size either, unless you need >8GB, then you will obviously notice

The speeds aren't really going to matter unless you've got an APU so just go 2x8GiB unless you need more than 16GiB

I haven't looked into it much, I'm just glad they're finally dropping HFS+. They never should've removed UFS as an option, choice is a good thing.

Laptop is broken. Well, HDD needs replacing but the technician would have to take my current one when he replaces it so that ain't happening.

I will buy a cheap desktop computer, probably a 1TB Dell Inspiron.

>>58982766
just buy a new HDD and replace it yourself?
>>
Most laptops make replacing the hard-drive piss easy. Just unscrew a screw, take off the cover, slip out the old one, slip a new one in.

And you can connect the old hard drive to a computer using a normal SATA connection and standard power connector if you need to do so to get the data off. Or if you just want an unreliable hard-drive to store porn on.
>>
>>58984356
Keyboard doesn't work either, so i have a wireless keyboard and mouse constantly on top of or around my laptop.

Also the hard drive needs to be replaced so i may as well get a whole new machine. I dont have a desktop right now so I'll probably get one of those.

>>58984340
Yeah but it's gonna be going anyway. I will recover all files (SATA to USB) but need good ideas for new programs, e.g. Deluge, CCleaner..

So, I've been playing around customizing and fixing things on my new install of openSUSE and it's actually a lot of fun! I'm enjoying listening to some synthwave and just slowly going around editing stuff.

After I've done configuring my drives, what do you guys generally like to do to customize your setup? So far I've only built a color scheme for my terminal which I think looks good, next got to find a matching theme and wallpaper.

General customization thread I guess

plain and outdated to me, but functional.

I like the taskbar that Microsoft introduced in Windows 7, so much so that I use KDE that offers that today. As far as I'm concerned that "launch app button that turns into a tab for that app" is the standard for modern OS ui.

So I'm going to a local Infosec conference for the first time soon.
I'm pretty interested in the field, but I just don't know much about it other than a couple of Black Hat and Defcon seminars on YouTube.
It seems cool, but I'm still skeptical if it's actually what I want to focus on.

What should I expect in the conference?

Depends what part you're interested in. I work in infosec but in threat intelligence. I love it, but I have to run elbows with other infosec sects like compliance and shit, and I fucking hate them...Hate isn't a strong enough word actually...

If you're into the pentesting or intelligence side it's a lot of fun and interesting work, if you're gunning to get a CISSP and talk about PCI and HIPPA and expect people with technical abilities to care, go throw yourself in a fire.
>>
Also don't be a poser faggot, if you're unfamiliar about something do try to fake it, people will quickly realize you're full of shit. Use the opportunity to ask questions and try to learn something new.

Also leave your trench coat at home and don't say shit like haxor unless you're joking...

Having issues with a Toshiba v63600-C 1TB external HDD.

On my Surface Book, the drive functions perfectly. On my Z77X-UD5H mobo the drive is constantly failing to appear in Windows or receive power.

The drive has to be physically unplugged and plugged back in for Windows to detect the drive or for the HDD to even receive power, and this is only a temporary solution as the drive will disappear and lose power after a few minutes. This is the same case for all USB ports through expansion slots and the integrated USB 3.0 ports on the motherboard.

Other USB 3.0 devices like my 16 GB Patriot Quick Drive seem to function normally and high current devices like my Nexus 6 are able to draw power normally without a problem.

Any ideas on how to get the drive functioning normally on the desktop motherboard?

Guess what you're being tracked no matter what, get over it, use something that actually works instead of some retarded OS where you spend time worrying about which font renders better.

I started reading this book and it says to use a now discontinued board (the spartan 3 starter board)

What do I actually need to properly use an FPGA, what all goes into the actual programming and I/O of it? I want to use them but I am confused at the place to start. Also if anyone has any info on where I can pick up this board and all the peripherals that be great.

You need to program with VHDL and for I/O I think you'd use assembly but not sure
>>
>>58982073
But how do I actually interact with the FPGA? What is a good FPGA to sue in relation to this book? What do I need to make those $25 FPGAs actually programmed and take input and give output.
>>
>>58982181
>But how do I actually interact with the FPGA?
Commands over a serial port usually. Most FPGAs have a software package to do this for you.
