I like Linux, and I love the aesthetics of older mac laptops.
So the dream that keeps me up all night furiously masturbating is putting a raspberry pi or something similar into an ibook g4 body, possibly attached to an "external" (it would be internal to the laptop itself) SSD, new battery (one that can be replaced, that isn't defunct like the actual g4 battery), stock monitor and screen, and whatever other goodies I could do with the body.
The CD drive spot itself could be used for one or two redundant SSDs, or more battery space for that 12+ life.
I can computer, but can't solder, so I need some ideas on how to put the newest, fastest linux I can into the shell of an ibook g4.
Dream with me, /g/

**I meant stock screen and keyboard.
Actually I meant stock keyboard and typing surface. Actually I meant stock coffee cup holder and foot pedal. Actually I meant stock TV and VCR.

Just get a lapdock or pi-top

HELLO DARKNESS MY OLD FRIEND
>RYZEN WON INTEL IS FINISHED
Um... No, sweetie. Intel is going to drop their prices a small amount to entice the few people that might buy a slightly weaker Ryzen but aside from that Intel still has the best performance chips in both the Workstation and Gaming world. Not to mention the most efficient choice for laptops.
Nothing has changed except AMD has caught up to Haswell tier CPUs, unfortunately this is 2017 not 2013, dear.
>>59072961
>best performance chips in the Gaming world
>only 16 pci
>"it's nugh for gaming guys"
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
Serious question? Should I invest in AMD stock? I see no reason why it can't hit $25.
>bullshit benchmarks show up
>massively overclocked CPU's get decent results in synthetic benchmarks
>single-threaded performance still no where near as good as intel
>yet another DOA AMD CPU line with 15 cores and no real world performance
>Intel still a far better choice in the real world
Hope it was worth the wait you fucking faggots.

Neat thread, OP.
Intel shills full force!
> buy 1800X for $500
> water cool it for $100
> overclock
> spend the remaining $400 on the best whores available
Intel shills will remain virgin forever lmao
Even apple is beating them with their 1W CPUs

delete this you dumb goy. intel has plenty of competitive offerings you dumb poorjeet

Plz don't let us down again, AMD
Are they AMD?
Are they Nvidia?
Are they Intel?
What do you think their battle-station is like?
What can we learn from their taste in technology?

Problem found.
Someone redpill me on what these things are used for?
Is it better than getting a sound card with ports for surround sound speakers and optical out, or is it really just a box that makes it so you can conveniently plug a pair of headphones into in front of your computer?
What about having a logitech g430 headset?
Well, in my case it allows me to plug my headphones with their 1/4in native jack directly in. Its super easy to bend/damage the jack with the adapter to 1/8in from the added length. It also lets me have a volume knob conveniently placed on my desk, which I like for reasons.
I honestly dont notice any difference in sound quality when compared between the DAC, my laptop's headphone jack, my PC's headphone jack, or even my phone.
>>59070273
they look pretty cool and impress people in battlestation threads
All single-core enthusiasts (we all know they are intel shills in truth) should go back to >>>/v/
Leaps in multicore performance are here to stay and all applications already support them otherwise

I don't run an illegal trafficking ring of Bluray re-encodes so I don't give a shit about your 99-core encoding performance.

CPUs are not GPUs. They will always require single-threaded performance. The memes that you ONLY need multithreaded performance are for idiots.

Delete this thread, you fucking idiot.
just got done figuring out android NativeActivity using the raw native_activity (not native_app_glue) which wasn't the easiest considering the lack of documentation and examples. the "boilerplate" i wrote is 400 LOC but it's all super clean and readable.

Why is everything so retarded now?
I still remember when YouTube was a site focused on its users pre-google takeover. There was interesting content and the site was responsive. I feel that with the iPhone it started to go downhill. Now you got a shit ton of unfunny prank channels and the site is infested with clickbait. Of course there still some great channels but most of the bigger ones are trash. Especially gaymin got so cringy if you compare it to < 2010.
Are they actually re-encoding the older videos? Most of them look like total shit now. Also they have no working search so you can't filter videos by age.
Sites a Javascript fest now with so many bloated features that it takes so long to load sometimes. And most comments are utterly retarded duo 8y olds toddling with their iPads.
I feel like the Internet is going to shit soon. It's already mobile layout for desktop users cause tablets and everyone needs to bloat their sites with JS so they don't even work without it.
>>59069228
>I still remember when YouTube was a site focused on its users pre-google takeover.
You are young. Youtube was never anything revolutionary. They sold out immediately when they saw the google cash.

Why are hard drives still stuck at 1TB for the past decade? Why don't we have 10TB, 20TB, 40TB etc yet?
>>59068771
To explain it very simple to retards like you, imaging folding a piece of paper in half and then doing it again and again. Eventually it gets harder to do.
I hate using analogies because it's Reddit-tier and always full of holes but hey you're the one who asked a Reddit question anyway.
you can get 10TB hdd's now
>>59068893
-- also, i'd imagine the apparent slow down in hdd capacity jumps is at least party due to more effort being spent on improving flash, now that it's closer than ever to actually replacing hdd's altogether
