...and why is it 16:10?
Ayymd poojeet cpoo doesn't support that ratio pic related
>>59135891
>1920x1080
>16:10
I'm not sure what you're trying to assert here.
>>59135875
I wish I could afford to get a good 16:10 screen. They cost some 50% more (or even greater) than an otherwise equivalent 16:9. I just can't justify it.
Got one at work though. Shit's great.
>>59135875
It just werks. My favourite aspect ratios are 4:3, 5:4 and 16:10. I don't have a 5:4 Display at the moment. I do have a 4:3 on my iBook and Thinkpad and a 16:10 on my iMac.
point of sale software and hardware that work with Linux?
With hardware I mean any: printers, scales, cash drawers, barcode scanners, card readers or all in one package as in the picture, that work with Linux.
No because pos vendors are literally Jews
>>59135467
Just get a cheap Win XP computer with no internet connection.
>>59135467
Barcode scanners are just input devices.
Printers can be written to like a file, the cash draws usually plug into them so you trigger the release by character
why /g/ keeps telling me having less cores is better
i dont get it
>>59134969
/g/ is probably right, because /g/ is filled with incompetent 'programmers' who can't utilize multicore CPUs to any reasonable extent.
>>59134969
Well, many processes only run on single cores, so in certain use-cases single cores are more efficient (i. e. you are only using a single thread, and on your 8 core rig, one core is overworked while seven are idle).
This is not universally the case, but it on occasion is a reason to use fewer, more powerful cores.
>>59134969
because less but poweful cores > more (but weaker) cores

yeah there's a god program that fixes everything with a 10 billion line OS made to suit everyone so it's just right for you, it's secret though.

The services you need active depend on your use case so there's not gonna be a one-size-fits-all solution for that
If I were to get a CompTIA A+ and subsequent network/security certs, is it possible to get into the field at 30? I want to fix/maintain systems and who knows what other opportunities exist.
>>59133279
what kind of systems? Comptia is ok for desktop support but if you want the big boy entrylevel certs you need to look at , MCSA, RHCSA, and CCNA.
>>59133327
Ah, see this is what I want to know. Yeah, I'm fine with helping whomever set up their printer, but I'd rather not be help desk for life. I generally feel like networking is the way to go for future stability. There's all kinds of hosts and such in my town; so there isn't a lack of opportunity here. I just derive pleasure from setup, troubleshooting/resolution, and overall maintenance. As you can tell, I'm kind of aimless, but your cert suggestions help give a good heading.
>>59133465
If you specifically feel good about setup/maintenance but not so much about helpdesk, networking is definitely a good path.
You can also look at some 'non-IT' areas like teledata electricians (installint datacenters) and cable/fiber linework (in the air/underground)
Where can I find a very plain, cheap and one-coloured watch? It has to be digital and has to have seconds (date obtional). Not visibly a Casio.
Pic related, but it does not have no seconds.

I have a pc, a PS4 and an iPad.
My internet is SUPER SLOW on all 3 when using my wife.
It's been like this for a week.
Up until a week ago everything was fine.
Youtube won't even load 144p videos anymore.
I have a 16000 Internet connection. Downloadspeed is usually 1.2-1.6 MB/s.
Now it takes 2-5 Minutes to download 1 MB of data!
How is this possible?
I tried everything - nothing helps.
Internet provider claims everything "should be fine"

Try not to download videos while you are having sex, that should fix it

serial performance will be always required on interactive applications
unless you never actual sit on a computer and only encode x265
stupid people have the delusion it's a matter of progress
it's not a matter of progress, it's a mathematical fact you will always require serial performance on CPUs
this is because interactive application must always adhere to the rules of a global loop
you can cry all you want to your mommy for your next game to be "100% multiprocessed" but it will never happen kiddo
it's how mathematics works.
you will always need strong threads not only in gaming, but in anything that requires human input, including setting up your Photoshop before you actually render, which is 99% of the time you actually use a computer
I'm a game developer and I keep trying to tell people this but everyone's too stupid and desperate to see the truth
Processor speed increases have been slowing way down, but the hardware companies don't mention it at all, everyone acts like it doesn't matter with multithreading but even if you go through the massive pain in the ass of making your engine perform efficently with multithreading the performance gains are minimal
>>59132488
>Processor speed increases have been slowing way down
Wait
You mean last 10 years there were speed increases?
>>59132524

OnePlus 3T is pretty neat. Sisters G4 got into a bootloop as well and I recommended her 3T, we both ended up buying one and it's been the best phone so far, and it doesn't break your bank either.

What's a good replacement? I really couldn't give a shit about features like volume control and shit, I just want something that's comfortable that doesn't make as much noise.
