I am learning emacs for memeing purpose but I leave the door open for it to become my main editor if I feel like switching from vim (and if I don't get RSI in the process).
What resources would /g/ recommend?
I am doing the built-in tutorial for the 3rd time but I'd like to see other material.
>Brainlet friendly video tutorial but no "retarded click-here-click-there with an indian accent"-tier.
>No "lol just use evil mode" or going straight deep into autism without understanding what I'm doing first.
>>59231605
First of all, fuck evil mode. If you want that, just use/stick with vim. Second, you don't need anything other than the built-in tutorial. Finally, when you have a grasp on emacs, google MELPA and see if it's anything you'd be interested in.
>>59231605
Emacs is completely self-documented. Nuff said.
>>59231605
FSF have a giant documentation for you (free in every way).
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
*coughs*
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Seriously though how do we fix pic related and improve /g/ as a board?
>>59231526
>every site is clearly being paid by intel
I read that post and it was clearly sarcasm
You turbo autists really can't stop, can you?
>>59231526
>some autistic /v/ trash actually made this in his basement
try to fix yourself first.
why would anyone not get jet black

why would anyone get an iphone?
So, anon-kun,
Where do YOU get your tech news?
>>59231255
Terry Davis Livestream
he sometimes scrolls through HackerNews
I don't care, if there's something worth caring about I'll hear about it sooner or later
>>59231259
>HackerNews
This picture is literally the state of this board right now.
>>59231045
and you're contributing like a fucking idiot
The only secure choice is to not play.
I lied just get a 7700k you pretentious faggots. Or at least wait for the 4c/8t AMD. AMD fuck up without doing the same, Intel knows what's up, the sweet spot is still 4c/8t because they know mass parallelism is done on the GPU level nowadays when it gets to the common desktop and gaming.
>>59231227
As far as I know, no game or common application uses GPGPU. Beyond stuff like PhysX that's all cosmetic and thus graphics anyways.
Is it just me, or did Google completely ban Tor now?
You could reload the captcha and eventually get street signs and those were actually solvable, but now it won't even accept the street signs and all other captchas just simply disappear.
How am I going to search for health issues and tranny porn without Google knowing my real identity?
>>59231036
use Lynx
>>59231036
use startpage
>>59231053
>>59231070
Those nu-search engines never give relevant results for me.
>bought laptop
>wanted to clean it after a year
>most disassemble it first
>most remove the motherboard
>found the cpu
>dark thoughts coming to me telling me to look at the thermal paste
>do that
>thermal paste looks dry just as i thought
>return the cpu back and clean the laptop and reassemble it back
>laptop runs fine after turning it on
Did i fuck up /g/? will the laptop temperature be higher now? Should I be worried?
>>59230925
you didnt apply new thermal paste?!
wut ...
Unless you're replacing your CPU, I wouldn't do that too often. Thermal paste shouldn't need to be applied more than once and after it is, it generally is fine to leave as-is. As long as you didn't get any crud in the paste or anything, you should be fine.
>>59230946
>>59230954
I didn't apply a new thermal paste, i just wanted to at the one the laptop came with
am i fucked?

Any of you all subscribe to tech magazines like Wired?
I used to get Wired sub for free. (there used to be promotions from shit like mycokerewards) This was before it got all political and gay and even then didn't really ever read them.
>>59230823
>This was before it got all political and gay
the reason i cancelled it. after 2011 it got worse and worse.

any magazines you'd recommend?
> he pretends to run an illegal trafficking ring through the Venezuelan border so that he needs all that security
> he is incapable to run basic tools or use his own brain or even external to the OS tools to secure himself
> he is unable to run most software that actually matterts
> he pretends Indians run Windows
> he doesn't get it's not browsers that do the spying, it's the websites themselves
>nothing to hide, nothing to fear
If you weren't a troll you'd at least google your shitty premise and see how many times it's been debunked from hundreds of angles before making this thread.
>Thing comes along that's way fucking better in every possible way to sysv
>Crusty old linux users throw a fit and hinder progress
this is why it will never be year of the linux desktop and why most linux software is garbo
prove me wrong (you cannot)
just as expected
>>59230702
i agree anon
linux simply has too many spergs who cling to things like the 'unix philosophy' which was really just a 90s message board meme, not an actual design imperative
>>59230804
>being able to fractionalize every part of your operating system and pass input and output between all programs as text streams is a meme
HOO HOO
>take /g/s advice and buy some secondhand servers
>one month later get $700 power bill
are you FUCKING kidding me
>>59230642
If you pay fifteen cents per kW/hr, that's 4667 kW/hrs. Or about 155 kW/hrs per day, or about 6.5 kW/hrs per hour. The hours drop out so that would mean you had an average draw of 6.5 kilowatts. Even if only half of that was the servers (is your normal bill $350?) that would blow fuses in most houses, even in 220-volt places, in addition to making the room boiling hot, unless you were careful enough to spread them out to several rooms on several circuits, which would have indicated full well you knew how much power they were drawing.
>>59230724
>If you pay fifteen cents per kW/hr
Is the entire premise of your argument
>>59230734
Well if you pay 30 or 40 or more per kW/hr then you'd a.) have to be pretty stupid to not look at how much power your stuff draws, and b.) be pretty used to getting cucked with big bills on a regular basis.
Why has he turned into an Apple shill

>>59230606
>"the only way to ban is through IP address!"
Go home kid.
>>/v/
>>59230647
how do they ban other than IP?
so they banned my computer? how do I fix that?
From any OS. I'll start. I would have to pick guake drop down terminal. It's insanely convenient and I use it constantly.
