Flatpack and appimage exist now. Linux has the software to compete with Windows by offering simple 1 click programmer installers (except for chmod needed for appimage), but no one in the Linux community has enough political power to actually force the main distros to actually accept these as a solution and require their use. Desktop Linux has a power vacuum that cannot be overcome, there will never be a year of desktop Linux because you're too busy trying to convince people systemd or unity is better on technical merits, instead of agreeing on much more important policy merits.

Repositories have been poisoned before as well. Third parties need to publish once and forget about packaging ever again. End users need that disk of turbotax to work from the store. I personally like downloading the latest version of Blender instead of waiting days or weeks for some repository maintainer to repack it.

Can we have a shaving technology thread?

Why are you still using expensive cartridge shaving systems, when you can get a better quality shave from double edge razors that cost only 10ยข per blade?

I don't shave with blades, I just trim all the hair I have with an electric razor at 3mm, but from what I know the multiple blades spread pressure over more edges so youre not as likely to cut yourself

what i hate about multiblades is that hair constantly gets stuck in them, it's a ridiculous design flaw

I don't get it. I have a single USB-C port on my shit laptop. If I want to connect anything besides a massive $200 hub to it, I lose access to the only USB-C port.

Virtually none of these adapters or dongles have pass-through USB-C. They occasionally have a female port for CHARGING ONLY

I'm completely lost. What the fuck is the point? I need a power adapter to charge the computer, most power adapters are rated for specific voltages / draw, so why would I plug in some rando adapter with a USB-C?

Where's the utility here? I don't get this shit at all.

Smartphones are toys for children. This isn't up for discussion, it's a fact.

There are no useful things you can do with it, they're all meant to serve as a distraction. Nearly all their users only use them for crap like godawful "games", snapchat, facebook, and so on.

Typing on these screens is unacceptably bothersome, so any kind of actual work "on the go", be it professional or hobbyist, is out of the question.

Whatever you do on these, you're also intensely spied on and everything you store on them is also datamined by at least one large corporation, even though you're a paying customer. There are also ads everywhere and the devices are designed in such a way to limit what you can do. The fact that gaining root privileges renders your warranty null and void is the final nail in the coffin and underlines the attitude of the manufacturers towards the users, the device is ultimately something you're not meant to control. Only a fool would ever own a smartphone.

Whatsapp conveniently dropped support for Nokia and Blackberry. Because muh NSA.

If Intel 7700k had 8 cores at 4.5GHz it would absolutely DESTROY AMD, AMD wouldn't stand a chance in hell, all you retards are benching 8 cores vs 4 cores with the 8 cores being weaker than 4 Intel cores, not fair numbers at all.

AMD is really shit

If Kabylake at that frequency had 8 cores it would use 440 watts.

If AMD had a full Ryzen chip at 4.5 GHz, they'd absolutely DESTROY the 6900k! ...and the motherboard and the VRMs amd the power supply and anything caught in the heat blast. Much like a 6800k would, because no one has eight cores with SMT running at that clock speed. Not even IBM.

Sage for stupid thread.
