Do you not know what concatenative programming is? How can you call yourself a hacker? How can you not use emacs? Honestly...

If you have a graphics card and it isn't used solely for rendering things, you do not belong on /g/ desu
I have a passively cooled one based on a mobile Nvidia and it's pretty nice.

>implying the computer with said attached card must be headless
>>59144925
CPUs are much better at rendering, tho

Anyone studying VoIP/VoLTE and or SIP/H248 here? Most of the lurkers on /g/ are coders/programmers but does anyone here know Telecom? Transport protocols, voice, data and signaling protocols? The reason I ask is because I"m looking to create a group to get together either on skype or chat, to talk, study and help each other out at work, with VoIP concerns etc.
Bump for Telecom master race
Wish I could contribute OP, at my last job I was working helpdesk for a wireless ISP (TD-LTE), and very few people were familiar with the low level protocol stuff. I've found some LTE protocol books on torrent sites but I haven't got a clue where you'd go to study that sort of stuff.
Why was android created with such a terrible OS update path? I can't think of any modern technology that has such a fucking awful methodology of upgrading to a new OS. Why can't they change this to just allow people to plug their androids into their computer, go to google, and update to the newest OS? There are millions of phones out there still running fucking Kit Kat.
>>59140841
But you can do that.
>>59140851
It depends on the model/company. Also I'm talking out of the box plug and play, not jail breaking or other methods that only a small percentage of people would do.
It's more a function of Google still having any modicum of control than anything else. By turning over control of updates to OEMs, the OEMs will continue to use Android. Otherwise, they'd probably just make their own OSes for their own brands and try to force everyone to use their own walled garden of apps, which would lead to segmentation akin to the vidya industry circa 1979.
And after the inevitable struggle, one or two victors would emerge and we'd have the same paradigm we have now.

Fuk it free new phone
Didn't you pay for your buggy phone? Why would you buy something that would just simply not work? It's their fucking responsibility if the phone is broken, they should give you something that works.
You wasted a thread. Don't even bump.

Hey guys, how can i tell if my laptop hardware is compatible with linux? specifically a *buntu distro.
I have a lenovo g505 if that helps
Pic unrelated
>>59140668
Run a live USB and test it. Make it persistent if you think you need some third party drivers.
>>59140687
I dont have a usb drive, i was just gonna use a small partition from my desktop pc to use as a "boot drive" in order to install linux on the laptops hdd. But if thats the best way i guess i'll just buy a 4 gig drive
Bump with food
