Why are programmers so eager to water down their field by making the barrier to entry so low that literally any third worlder with internet can take their job?
Name another field where people are so open about their field that they allow themselves to be put out of a job through ease of education.

Skylake won't support Windows 7, and that apparently means Windows 7 is dead.
However Skylake also doesn't support Linux, yet this is not a problem. Linux will continue to work just fine.

Hey /g/, I'm looking to finally start working on my degree, but I don't know whether or not I want to do comp sci or information technology.
I've been in the field as a network admin for about three years and like doing administration / O&M type stuff... basically not a developer.
Comp sci seems to be in demand, but the math requirements freak me out. I've been out of school for almost five years and I didn't retain much math stuff.
Information technology doesn't seem to be as in demand (not that I've seen in the D.C. area anyway). Am I not looking hard enough?

I haven't used any resources to learn highschool math myself, so I can't personally recommend any, but I've heard good stuff about khanacademy, otherwise just google
I'd also recommend that after a while of recapping you watch the first few lectures of the Linear Algebra / Calculus lectures of MIT Open courseware to see if / where you'd have any problems to follow the lectures / do the exercises.

Learn the basics via one of the many Java tutorials. You should know what things like access modifiers, attributes, methods & classes, abstract, static, data types, inheritance, input parameters, return types, arrays, loops, lists, interfaces, main method, etc. are (no specific order btw)
Afterwards, start implementing some simple models (Teacher, Classes & Pupils class), look up the explanation for different sorting algorithms (bubble sort, quick sort, etc.).
Google everything you don't know "How do I ____ in Java"
