Hi. I want to ditch my smartphone and get a feature phone. This thing is eating away at my life and I need to get away from it but I still need to be able to do TWO things.

1- make calls

2- listen to music

Do you guys know of any feature phones that can do these two tasks? That means I need a 3.5mm jack as well as the 900/1800 frequency thing for it to work in the US (all the good Nokia phones are 2G sadly so they won't work)

Thank you

>feature phone.
how is it a feature phone if it has no features
>>
>>59175107
That's the point, it has select features
Only the essentials (and I want to find one with a little more than just that w/ music)

Or would I be better off carrying around an MP3 player and flip phone?
>>
>>59175156
It's getting pretty hard to find FM radios on smartphones but your $10 shit nokia dumbfone will have one.

The new 3310 will have a camera and SD card I think, but I dunno how that's going to work.

I mean why not?

there are thousands of Chinese factories pumping out cellphone parts ready to make any cheapo phone you want.

Probably took minimal effort if any on their end so they just leverage their name to earn a few bucks.

Would a CPU architecture with specialised cores or SPEs be beneficial?

Let's say you have 4 main cores for general computation, 2 specialised cores for handling the OS and it's background processes and another 2 cores for things like I/O, the SB/NB and various other components, freeing up the main cores.

CPU architecture with builtin FPGA, however, would.

>Would a CPU architecture with specialised cores or SPEs be beneficial?
Of course, that's what a floating-point unit, GPU, etc really are in the end.
>2 specialised cores for handling the OS and it's background processes and another 2 cores for things like I/O, the SB/NB and various other components, freeing up the main cores.
We did these kinds of things in the '80s, it wasn't very uncommon to see high-end workstations like pic-related running general purpose chips just for handling I/O or other specific functions. But nowadays CPUs are so blindingly fast for those kinds of tasks that there's not as much of a point in spending more time, effort and silicon on such a solution.

I wonder what teamspeak uses to ban their users using linux/macosx

it's a mix between ip/macaddress/hardwareid

You're able to change windows productid by altering the following file:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

this with a few other changes allows users to log back in.

My understanding is that the id is 'tied' directly to the hardware. Am I able to manually change this anywhere? Maybe a VM would work.

>>
What the fuck are you on, retard, teamspeak only bans by ip and identity, it's literally as easy as restarting your router and creating a new identity.
>>
In the last TeamSpeak3 update, they've made an update in the ban system as you can see here : http://forum.teamspeak.com/showthrea...3-0-7-released

( + bans got some magic to prevent abusing )

Now we just need to figure out how to bypass the new system.
ive tried changing my Hardware ID with Volumeid, reinstalling TS and nothing...
i disabled and enabled my internet adapter in Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections and somehow i could enter in the server that i'm banned. But after that i disconnected and couldn't enter in the server anymore... thats weird, cmon guys someone need to find how to bypass the new system.
I changed my IP and ts id several times and nothing.

Why is left (symmetric) so widely used?

even some low level fag in charge of the xboxone architecture said that they got a massive performance boost ever since they went asymmetric and decided to allocate one core to the OS and the rest of the cores (7 or 8 cant remember) to whatever user gaymen stuff is running at the moment.

so explain to me why dont operating system schedulers do this already? what are the downsides?

Most IO devices generate MSI-X interrupts, which any arbitrary available core can handle, as well as being able to do DMA (and thus avoiding relying on a CPU all together in order to transfer data to buffers in memory). It makes much more sense to try to avoid shuffling data across CPU cores (due to caches 'n' stuff).
>>
>>59172669
I think it's because most operating systems come from a time there were no multiple cores.
>>
>>59172669

Because the "operating system" isn't one single thing retard. It's a bunch of stuff, like GNU + Linux.

Recently fresh installed another pc, and I noticed the lockscreen is different. I'm used to the lockscreen going blurred and showing a box to enter password when you click the up arrow or whatever, but on this clean install it slides up and a plain windows 10 logo is seen at the side, as was with the original windows 10.

How do I enable the former, as I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.

Does anyone know the math that would tell us the effect of computing power on the temperature of the world? That's a lot of energy being released just to crunch some numbers.

>>
>>59171502
The top machine on top500 draws 15,000kW (15MW) and it's not even the most power hungry machine. And the top 500 only lists the top500 participating machines. There are a lot of huge clusters in private data centres, like Amazon, Google, etc.

So ignoring all the desktop PCs which aren't crunching numbers, I would guess it's something like 5-10GW.
>>
>>59171502
Are you mentally retarded or just a fucking idiot?
>>
>>59171606

more like legitimately curious.

>>59171556

5-10GW could power 1,500,000 to 3,000,000 homes. That's a ton of energy.

I recently used this account sharing site which had lists of log ins for a website and passwords many invalid but some real.

It struck me that maybe these logins weren't necessarily posted with the owners consent. How legal are these sites? Do you use one often?

I don't think I'm going to use one again desu
