Anyway, note that the rightsholder here doesn't know who you are. They know your IP address*, and they know who owns your IP -- that is to say, they know your ISP. They send this letter to your ISP, and your ISP forwards a copy to you. Generally, your ISP will do dick-all about it, though you may want to be aware of their policy for repeat offenders just in case.

(*NOTE: Whether or not an IP address is considered Personally Identifying Information varies by jurisdiction. In other words, legal opinions vary as to whether your IP address can be used as a substitute for a proof of identity when bringing legal action. In the US, to the best of my knowledge, it is not; in Germany, it is.)
