what can't addblock plus block annoying pop ups? I still get them
better question, why are you stil using adblock?
>>59330222
what's wrong with it?
>>59330236
you said it yourself, its not blocking popups. ublock origin is currently the best adblocker and can use any adblock filter if you go into the settings.
Today I uninstalled windows key completely, then booted my computer with ubuntu
Ubuntu is good except for the slightly tinny sound and the inability to scroll up super fast with the mouse wheel
I installed ubuntu because I don't trust microsoft with my data since I've heard about the vault 7 stuff
Good blog post.
>>59329919
>vault 7
>therefore I installed the OS with the most vulnerabilities
Nigger what?
>>59329931
The government won't waste their time on linux, when they can spy on microsoft which is what most people use
When did the "linux is vunerable" meme start?
Teach me how to install gentoo, onii-chan.

>>59328810
It just works.

7 without a doubt.
Windows 8 is shit you cant even boot up into safe mode with that shit, it asks you to boot up normally first
I'd like to be able to create higher quality videos for my YouTube channel. Currently all I know how to do is use kdenlive for splicing together video clips. I've tried using its special effects features multiple times and I just can't understand how to use those damn keyframes. I use a simple screen recorder program literally named simplescreenrecorder. And I use audacity to remove static from my audio with its noise removal feature.
Any suggestions for a better workflow?
For video editing you would be better off asking this in /p/
>>59328405
forgot to mention I also occasionally use ffmpeg in the CLI but I'm not very good with it
>>59328412
Thanks man. Didn't even think of that.
Why is it that we have been using basically the same operating systems for decades now?
Doesn't OS technology ever progress?
Because we haven't.
>>59328015
Because why change things that aren't broken?
UNIX works just well.
Because nobody has made anything better. Loonix is fragmented upon trillions of useless distros incompatible with each other, os x is gay, and everything else is just a gimmick.
Is SpaceX a meme /g/?
>>59327869
no
>>59327869
No. ``Is * a meme, /g/?" is a meme
>>59327869
Yes. They waste millions blowing up rockets by accident and building meme cars that can only be charge in meotropolitan areas. If you disagree please tell me how space x has made any different in your life besides occasionally driving behind a tesla in traffic
How come we have OLED TVs but no OLED monitors?
Not even an OLED laptop.
Why the fuck hasn't Samsung released an 11 inch netbook with a OLED display yet? Don't their tablets use AMOLED?
>>59327480
> Static image burn in
> Inconsistent pixel wear rates lead to artifacts on static images like desktops

Because there are a lot of people still buying shitty (((gayming))) 1920x1080 tn monitors priced over 500$

Only a few are, the rest in my CS course are only here to ruin the real estate market in it's entirety across the country and send the country in another recession with their parent's communist cash
>t. canadian
No, the meme comes from otaku with no life who spend too much time on a single thing.
Every other country has that but they don't call them otaku and aren't recognized for their obsession.

Alright /g/, let's talk about APFS, did Apple win again?
Remember Linus shitting on HTS+? I wonder what he thinks of Apple File System.
btrfs master race
>>59326019
TIL APFS is the only file system that offers file encryption by default. my next computer will be a Mac because apple is the only privacy driven company left. how did it get to apple being the best tech company in 2017
>>59326019
Probably that it looks good
He shat on a shit system, there is no need to do it if the system is not shit
Rate linux distros you've used / are using and rate them [0/10] and [Easy/Expert] and maybe tell your favorite or most hated thing about it.
E.G.
>Ubuntu
[8/10]
[Easy]
Very User Friendly
No problems
>Arch
[5/10]
[Hard/Expert]
Works
Setup isn't easy
>>59325952
Honestly, I want to get into Linux, but what stops me is that the simpler / well documented ones have gay as fuck names (fedora, Mandingo, etc) or a stupid logo.
>>59325952
>Ubuntu/ElementaryOS
[Easy]
[6/10]
>Debian/Arch
[Easy]
[9/10]
>Slackware
[Hard]
[10/10]
I don't really know why people say Arch Linux is a "hard" to learn distro, everything is on the wikia really well explained. AUR is super useful too.
I am currently using Slackware (running from the plague, systemd). Although it is not much different than any other distro (really, they are all almost the same) I really like it's community, their package manager and how they manage 32bit and 64bit builds.

Should I sell my Thinkpad and get a MacBook/MacBook Pro?
Obviously I'd keep my battle station but I sort of want a Mac and an iPhone again
>>59325829
Yes get the Macbook
seriously it's not a meme they're good machines
>>59325829
Just install MacOS on your Thinkpad, best of both worlds
>>59326124
That's not good enough tho....sounds like OP wants a real Mac
Is there a better Android browser than Lightning?
Firefox is too clunky.
Lightning is best
Yeah use something based on Android webview
>>59325815
any CAF browser (tugabrowser, yubrowser, etc) is better, but they are all closed source afaik and also not as lightweight.
Chromium is open source, but it still has some privacy issues.
Lightning is lightweight, and has adblocking, but general browsing isn't as comfy as on a chromium based browser.
